Excellent organic vegetarian restaurant near the harbor - Edit
Lovely green view with a peek of the Chania harbor. Friendly and attentive service. Extensive menu, most of which can be made vegan. We started with a falafel appetizer. The falafel was most and tasty, and the greens and tomatoes from the restaurant's farm were very flavorful. My omnivore friend had the boureki (layered potato, feta, zucchini, carrot, and onion pie with a flaky crust topped with sesame seeds) and I had the vegan moussaka. Both were generous portions and very flavorful. We liked this restaurant so much that we were going to return the next day, but alas, it was Sunday and To Stachi was closed.

Delicious and SOOO many extras! - Edit
Most of the dishes are actually vegan, so choosing was not easy. We went for the Moussakka and Pastitsio. As a starter the waiter recommended the grilled eggplant with pomegranate and raisins, which really was the best of the three dishes! But just because it really was outstanding, the rest was very good too.
Read moreIn addition to that we got a small mixed platter with big beans, spinach and cauliflower as an extra starter (maybe because the eggplant took a bit longer, but they had said that right after we had ordered it) and some honey melon with some sort of semolina cake (I don't really know what it's called, but it was delicious) on the house!
Oh, and the wine was also good 😊
Loving it!
Pros: Most dishes are vegan. Good wifi

Amazing!! - Edit
What an awesome spot. We saw this place on Happy Cow and knew we had to try it and we were not disappointed! The service was incredible in this family run restaurant. But even better than that was the food. We are vegan and almost everything could be made vegan (or already is) and oh so delicious. This is a must try place!!!!!

Veganes Bio Restaurant - Edit
Efcharisto!!

This is some of the tastiest food I've ever had anywhere on this planet :) The owners are super friendly and cook everything with love, with carefully selected ingredients, 100% local. They speak english, and it's very vegan friendly. Very nice atmosphere too, highly recommended :)

Divine Cretan Vegan Food - Edit
Lovely place and really friendly English speaking staff (family run) who are so knowledgeable about all their dishes and the ingredients. A lot of choice and most of the menu was vegan or vegan adaptable. Food was simply the best meal I had over there, cooked to perfection, spoilt for choice and really good value for money. Will definitely be going there next time!

Affordable delicious dinner - Edit
We ended up ordering a bunch of starters and half a bottle of wine and after that we were full. The food was delicious and they had plenty of things to choose from. My favorite was grilled aubergine with raisins, pine seeds and garlic. All dishes had a lot of oil on it, but you could always just ask them to go easy on the oil if you're on a low-fat diet. The dinner for two, including wine, cost just 30 euros. Very good food and drinks for the money!

Excellent vegetarian restaurant - Edit
Have eaten lunch at this place in September 2016. The waiter was speaking English and let us choose a table to seat at. Then the chef approached us and described the ingredients in various dishes and made some suggestions on what things we could try.
Read moreThe food was prepared a couple of hours earlier so we got the food in a matter of 10 minutes or so. All food was tasty and fresh. We also got some tiny pieces of other dishes we haven't ordered to give it a try for free.

Pros: Fair prices, Excellent view over the sea, Variety of food choices
Cons: Have to check with chef if a dish is vegan or not

Tasty Veggie and Vegan food, friendly welcome - Edit
Really worth seeking out, friendly welcome and great range of Veggie and Vegan food. Main menu supplemented by delicious specials. I had a warm Hummus and raisin starter ( it's quite hard to find Hummus in the resort shops in Crete) and a main of artichokes, peas and potatoes, which was all fresh and tasty. My wife had mixed stuffed vegetables, all very flavoursome. They also offer Vegan beers and winds, I enjoyed a dark beer from Rethimno. I'd really recommend the people and food.

Amazing - Edit
We went to To Stachi because there are not more options in that area of Crete and we were surprised by the amount of vegan options on the menu, including tipical dishes from the region. The staff, owner's daughters and the boy that accompanies them, is wonderful and the chef / owner even shared with us a recipe that impressed us. We ate zucchini flowers stuffed with rice, hummus and vegan special mussaka, and liked it so much (especially mussaka) that we went back another day for dinner. The second day we could not enjoy the mussaka because that day was not vegan and we ate Fava (mashed lentils), vegetables stuffed with rice and herbs and okra, all very tasty. Absolutely recommended for the treatment, quality and price.

ok - Edit
It does have lots of vegan options and lots of them looked nice so I took the zucchini flowers, wine leaves and a tomato stuffed with rice and herbs and the rice was terribly undercooked. I doubt it was even cooked at all it was still really hard. The rest of my family their dishes were nice though. If you go there, definitly try the hummus because it was the best one I have tasted during my whole stay in Crete.

I'd come back to Crete just because Stachi! - Edit
We visited To Stachi during our holidays and just had to come back! Went there twice and it was such a pleasant experience both times. We're not talking only food here, but the 'staff' is really kind and prices are good and the chef and his daughter just tell you everything about the menu and ... oh god, it is just so good I can't explain it with words. Definitely worth a visit or two (or ten)! P.S.: best roasted eggplant I've ever eaten!

Great vegetarian versions of Cretan classics - Edit
Really enjoyed the meal we had here. The dishes were all delicious and the service is very friendly. The restaurant is easy to find and is located on a quiet street just away from the busy coastal main strip. The owner/chef helpfully explains the menu to you, which contains several vegan items. At the end of the meal we were given a small piece of home-made cake and some fresh fruit. Generally, as a vegetarian you can usually find something to eat at most restaurants in Crete, but you get a bit tired of the same old stuff. It was really nice to be able to try vegetarian versions of things like stifado and moussaka, which aren't always available in other places.

it was OK - Edit
The people eating next to us could not stop raving about this place but I thought it was just OK. Very nice staff and the owner comes out and explains the menu to you and will tell you what is vegan and what has cheese. They serve appetizers, 'on the cob' dishes, traditional cretan mains and pastas.
Read moreIt was epensive for us, although maybe tha's just Cretan prices generally. The food was nice although although mine was lukewarm but I dis not love it.
Of course, there are not many options for vege food in Chania so it was nice to go to a restaurant catering for it.
Pros: Everything is vegan or vegetarian, Very helpful and friendly staff, free wifi
Cons: 8 euros for a small portion, 5 euros for a carrot juice
