Gem of a place - Edit
What a great find. I used Happy Cow to try to find myself a vegan lunch before heading off to the British Museum for the afternoon. Thenga Cafe was marked as CLOSED on Happy Cow but it was very much open.
Read moreI ordered a wrap to take away which was packed with spinach, lettuce and pakora. Absolutely delicious! I hadn't realised it also included a portion of dahl which was a real bonus. All great value for £7.95.
I'd definitely go there again and will eat in, so that I can choose from the wider menu and eat in comfort, not on the move.
Pros: Friendly staff, Great value, Homely

We followed HappyCow's recommendation an had lunch at Thenga Cafe: the daily lunch, soup, banana bread and homemade masala tea with coconut milk. The food was delicious and highly affordable. We especially enjoyed the cordial atmosphere. A place to relax and refresh.

Super friendly owner, service very fast. Had the lunch set which was good if uninspired and the wrap which was absolutely delicious. The banana bread was good, too. Try the mango lassie- it’s also great.

Great value vegan curry, just a hop skip and jump from Kings Cross rail - Edit
This is where I will be eating when I'm travelling through Kings Cross rail now that VX has closed.
Read moreJust around the corner of Cromer Street next to 90 Judd Street, there is an entrance via what looks like a fire exit. I had lentil dhal with rice/chapati, some veg and a samosa was a bit extra. The owner was interested enough to talk and made me feel very welcome. It is a shared table venue however it wasn't busy and I don't mind that anyway.
Pros: Vegan menu, Great value for this location, Friendly service
Cons: I don't mind however, some may not like to share a table

Small menu but tasty and satisfying. Food served in small cafe with canteen style tables. The homemade banana loaf was amazing! Good place for a quick meal in a quiet venue.

Good food and great value - Edit
This cafe near King's Cross & St Pancras stations is a great place for some lunch, especially when changing trains. The food is delicious, portions generous, and the cost very modest. The owner is super friendly, and makes people feel welcome to stay and relax, even when not buying food (but who could resist? We can't).

Hidden gem - Edit
A little vegan place with a sense of community to it, 5 minutes walking distance from Kings Cross station. I had the daily lunch and a roti, very tasty. Prices are pretty good considering the location, but real reason to here is for the friendly atmosphere and the food.

Delicious, simple and affordable Indian canteen - Edit
I've only recently discovered Thenga Cafe and I will definitely go back. They serve a fixed menu of a curry, rice and two sides. When I went I had a lentil dahl, onion bhajis and a cold salad, all delicious. The whole things only cost £5.95. The decor isn't anything special but it is a lovely welcoming space and the staff are very friendly. They also serve homemade cakes and really good fair trade coffee. Recommended for a quick and cheap lunch.
