I'm about to start a new job in Sunderland so wanted to explore and the Good Apple Cafe being nearby definitely means I am about to become a regular. The service is great. They are so friendly and welcoming. You will be spoilt for choice as a vegan. The food is the very best quality. I had a full breakfast and my partner got a roast veg wrap with sweet potato fries. Very happy that they serve Palestine cola too. We even got pumpkin curry pasties to take away for our tea that were delicious too! And I am looking forward to the cake we got to take home too.

Stopped here for brunch to break up a long journey. It’s been running for 12 years, so I knew they must be doing something right — but I was still surprised to arrive on a cold, rainy Tuesday morning and find the café completely full! Great to see, and I was more than happy to wait for a table.
Read moreI went for the full breakfast, which was absolutely delicious — they even make their own sausages! I took a cake home for later, which was equally good. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, as was the owners’ (?) friendly dog, who kept everyone entertained with her ball!
If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely be coming back.

Dined here today,for the first time in a while.Had the Shawarma flatbread wrap which came with skinny fries and salad.Absolutely huge! Light fluffy wrap,good seitan (although I prefer it a little firmer),pickled cabbage, houmous,chili sauce, delicious 😋.Staff as always,so friendly and welcoming.Sell a few books as well,plus their own branded fairtrade tote.Lovely little place in the heart of Sunderland,which is undergoing through major transformation.Only 10 minutes drive from the beaches of Sunderland too.Well worth a visit.Support local businesses!

What a delightful place. I have wanted to come here for years and finally made it. Friendly and welcoming. Quick service. The soup was absolutely delicious. Read moreThe food is always fantastic quality and usually pretty healthy. Their regular menu has quite a few wraps, a rainbow salad bowl, some toasted ciabattas, as well as a couple of really tasty different all-day breakfast meals, among others.
The staff are really friendly and full of character.
The cafe can get pretty busy at times, as it's quite small, but takeout is always an option.
I'd love to see some new additions to the permanent menu, perhaps some of the popular specials.
In an area of the country which isn't usually the most vegan friendly, the Good Apple stands out clearly above the rest.

I tried the special banh mi and also the roasted cauliflower soup. Both of which were delicious. We also tried the 'dirty' sweet potato fries. [We got a little carried away but managed to fit it all in].
The dessert was delicious. I had the raw 'snickers' bar but also tried the pecan brownie. So tasty, but without being too sweet.
Also, nicest matcha latte I've ever drank.
Highly recommend this place if you're in the area or even as a special trip.
This is an apple you definitely want to take more than one bite out of.

This was our first visit, but it definitely won't be our last! Great menu with lots of choice, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. We both chose the burger, one of the specials, and it was delicious! I am not a fan of burgers which are very meaty in texture so this was lovely as it was all veggies, with plenty of accompaniments in the bap, served with fries and coleslaw. Even though it was a generously-sized meal we managed to squeeze in some delicious carrot and walnut cake and a coffee. Both of which were excellent.

Read moreI had the Mexican burrito wrap and then a slice of the carrot and walnut cake. Both were really delicious and would highly recommend trying. If I'm ever back in Sunderland again, I'll for sure come back here to get some more great food. The girl serving me was also very polite and did a great job :)
