Great vegan brunch!

Any item on their brunch menu could be made vegan. My meal in particular was amazing. The staff was attentive and the ambiance was quite chic. I would definitely come back!

Enjoyed it

I haven’t been there in awhile.
I wish it was completely vegan, but had plenty of options.

Avoid

Very disappointing. Put regular cheese on vegan pizza and very annoyed when asked to remake. Pizza was a small, flavorless crust with Daiya cheddar cheese. Space too tight for the seating arrangement they have. There are so many great places in the city if you have limited time I would for sure skip this one.

Cons: Bland food, mixed non vegan items on vegan order, Poor service, Expensive

Very yummy breakfast burrito

Went here for brunch recently and it was very good. I had the breakfast burrito and added vegan chorizo to it. Just had to ask them to make the burrito vegan which they were gladly able to. Everything was so tasty.

Fresh and Interesting

This is a very comfortable, attractive restaurant with good looking decor and friendly staff. I love that they have so many fresh juice options and you can even turn them into cocktails with the addition of your choice of liquor.

The menu has a lot of variety and everything sounded delicious. I had the curry which was fresh and prepared perfectly. My friend had pad Thai which was also great.

We opted for dessert and had the brownie, cookie, ice cream combo. The brownie was a bit dry and disappointing but the vegan ice cream and cookie were excellent.

Pros: great service, attractive decor, super healthy

Cons: dry brownie dessert

A Perfect Solo Dinner Spot

I came here for dinner by myself on a Saturday evening, and it was exactly the place I had hoped for—cozy atmosphere and truly excellent food.

Pros: Ambiance , Options , Taste

Cons: Service is a little bit slow

Great early breakfast!

For the city that never sleeps, there were not many breakfast options at 8am! The menu was a little confusing about what could be made vegan, but I ordered the bagel and lox and WOW!!! I’m not a huge carrot lox person, but with the tomatoes, this was perfect! Just be forewarned - it was messy to eat! Too tall to eat with your hands, and too chewy to effectively cut with a butter knife. It was 100% worth the mess, though. Very cute spot with good, quick service and reasonable prices.

Wonderful and cozy sidewalk restaurant

The menu has so many delicious options that it's hard to choose. The staff is super friendly and the setting us wonderful with small café tables in the sun at the sidewalk. West went there for lunch on a Sunny October day.

Pros: Setting, Friendliness, Spoilt for choice

Ok, but not worth coming back

I only had the kale salad ($17), but the menu options are few, particularly the 100% vegan.

The salad was really tasty, it had fried onions and almonds. I ordered a side of rice paper bacon ( $3) which was great.

Pros: Rice paper bacon , Neighborhood

Cons: Few vegan options

A few vegan options for a quick nosh

Staff was awesome, atmosphere was cute and bright. Beet waffles were good, but the house maple butter effing *made* it--could eat that shizz all day! 😋 Also got the fanciest avocado toast ever made; flavors were fantastic and they took pains to make it the prettiest food of your day. Overall a great little spot to tide ya over till your next destination. (Note: Visited May '24, so menu items might've changed.)

Pros: MAPLE BUTTER , Flavorful avocado toast, MAPLE BUTTER

Cons: Be clear in ordering vegan, Need to ask if some ingredients are vegan

Decent vegan bakery

Cute little shop with cute sitting areas. The pastry was pretty good. The drink tasted a little off. My biggest issue is the staff wasn’t the nicest.

Seasonal and delish

I’ve been to this spot twice and love the changing menu. Ingredients are fresh, flavors are unique and beautifully presented. This time we tried the poppyseed waffles, pastrami tofu sandwich, and the mushroom calamari. All very tasty.

Good but not amazing—it all depends on what you order

Visually, this first outpost of the Butcher’s Daughter is beautiful, which makes sense since the owner is a designer. It’s a tiny space used well, and be prepared to sit at the window counter or a communal table if eating inside—definitely make a reservation if you can. But who cares about stuff like that—it’s all about the food, right?

So, the food. It’s spotty. Some items are excellent while others are meh at best.

The excellent:

The menu changes regularly, but if the gnocchi is available when you go, get that. The gnocchi themselves aren’t particularly flavorful, but they are properly cooked, which is no mean feat. The sauce is excellent, with sliced peppers for a bit of a kick and crumbled Impossible sausage. This was the standout dish for us.

Also great was the carrot hummus, and particularly the toast that came with it. They’ll bring you more if you ask for it. Ask for it.

They have a nice selection of cocktails. Truly delicious was the spicy margarita. The sangria smelled exactly (and tasted mostly) like a watermelon Jolly Rancher, so if that’s your thing…. Unfortunately, no interesting (or dark) beer.

The meh:

The salads we tried were just OK, and the pizza was pretty much inedible.

Your experience will depend entirely upon ordering the right items, so come with a large enough group to sample several.

Final thoughts: Boo to the vegan tax! A “plant-based” restaurant shouldn’t charge more to veganize stuff that it doesn’t cost more to veganize. It’s a shame they are not fully vegan, actually, as they are pretty close.

Pros: Some items are great, Nice selection of cocktails , Cool design and great service

Cons: The menu is not consistent , There’s a vegan tax, Too expensive for what it is

Not entirely convinced...

Lots of choices, but not all recommended...if you're undecided between waffles and French toast, go for the latter!

Nice but crowded

Just got a coffee here and it was disappointed to see there is a vegan tax. Also, pretty tight seating here. I’d still come back to try an entree though.

Charming vegetarian cafe

This pleasant, waiter-service cafe with a bunch of outdoor seating (and more limited indoor seating) is especially geared toward vegetarians, though it does have a couple of vegan options. I had a very nice vegan English vegan breakfast here. There is also a small takeout annex for coffee and tea next door.

Pros: Many vegetarian options

Cons: More limited vegan options

Delicious food but wish they had more vegan options

The vegan food we had was delicious! I just wish the whole menu were vegan because it’s already on the small side to begin with! They charged $2 to substitute eggs for tofu scramble to make the country breakfast plate vegan which doesn’t even make sense because aren’t eggs more expensive than tofu these days?? We were also disappointed the French toast wasn’t vegan especially since you can get excellent French toast at so many places in the city (PS Kitchen, Urban Vegan, etc.) so it’s definitely possible. The menu’s reliance on eggs is disappointing. I’m sure they would get more vegan customers if the menu were vegan. That being said, the food was really great.
