Awesome Quesadillas - Edit
I've only had the Quesadillas there , but they are incredible for such a simple dish. I think its the type of cheese they use. I asked for and assume its vegan but seeing the other reviews I have to be more vigilant because the staff is not knowledgeable on what is considered vegetarian and what is vegan. I like the food but it is kind of pricey, and I wish it would be all vegan instead.

Not sure what the fuss is about - Edit
Lots of egg on the menu, nothing was exceptional. The space was tight, prices were high, food was mediocre, service was slow. The ice cream sandwich for dessert was literally was $11 and since they ran out, they went across the street to buy vegan ice cream to thrown it in some very hard cookies and serve it with some fruit jam.

Tricky for vegans - Edit
I went here for lunch, having enjoyed meals at one of the LA branches. We ordered the Chicken Milanese sandwich, which is marked as vegan on the menu. For some reason I decided to just double check that it was indeed vegan, and the waiter seemed confused about what that meant, and then after checking with another member of staff, said that the chicken was made with eggs. We also asked about getting one of the smoothies without honey in it but were told they are pre-made so they can't adjust the ingredients. Unfortunately at that point we decided just to leave as the curt attitude of the staff and mislabeled menu had put us off. It really concerned me that other vegans would unknowingly order items that aren't actually vegan, so wanted to just mention our experience here.

Not as vegan as expected - Edit
I was suprised how much stuff on the menu had egg and dairy in it. The vegan options still looked good though, they were out of the desserts I wanted to try but what we had was good.

Cute place, but sadly lacking in vegan breakfast options - Edit
We were initially excited that this place was one of very few in the area that was open early, and planned to have breakfast here since no breakfast was offered in our nearby hotel.
Read moreThe decor is really cute – bright and clean.
Although much is made on their website about being a "plant-based" restaurant, we found it hard to find satisfying vegan breakfast options.
The waiter was very helpful, pointing out which items were actually vegan, but we weren't left with much.
The breakfast menu looked enticing, but is quite heavy on eggs with no vegan substitutes offered. This is confusing, because it should be simple to swap out eggs for tofu, tempeh, or any number of animal-free substitutes.
We ended up paying close to $40 for a skimpy avocado toast, and a bowl of oatmeal, both with no protein – and coffee and tea. I'd like to make a plea to the owners to please, please, consider offering more vegan breakfast choices, your neighborhood really needs your care and concern for plant based options to be fulfilled! I love this area, and would like to stay overnight again, but short of throwing our own stash of nuts into your porridge or avocado toast (and factoring the cost into the $40 bill!), we need a more balanced start to the day before we can consider returning. On the plus side – the porridge was absolutely beautiful – that went on Instagram immediately, and the Bellocq Earl Grey was one of the best I've ever had. (That's saying a lot, because I really care about quality teas!) I stopped in the Butcher's Daughter takeout shop, hoping to buy some tea to take home, but only to go cups were offered. Since Bellocq tea Atelier is in Brooklyn, why not consider selling some in your shop...?
Will keep an eye on developments here, hoping not to cross it off the list...
Pros: cute decor, fantastic Bellocq teas!
Cons: lacking vegan breakfast options, over priced , seating by the window is uncomfortable

Delicious drinks - Edit
We popped in for a warm drink to escape the cold. I loved my cashew nut chai latte-the perfect drink to warm up with a festive taste for Christmas. Cute decor and a good looking menu which we will be back to try.

The Butcher's Daughter was VEGAN - Edit
A plant-based restaurant that treats its vegetables and fruits like a butch would it's meat! A careful, thought-out menu with a mixture of sweet and savory choices!
Read moreFood *****
We ordered the quesadilla and the nachos libre. The quesadilla was one of the finer vegan quesadillas we've tried. Decorated with an assortment of vegetables and comes with a very unique dipping sauce, making this a delicious choice! The nachos were fantastic! You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between these and meat nachos. Yum!!
Atmosphere *****
Outside seating in a nice, quiet area with plenty of table space (granted you don't have to sit with anyone if it gets too crowded). Overall a very nice environment and they are also cognizant and caring towards the environment. You'll see what I mean when you visit!
Service ****
Quick, pleasant and no hiccups! The waiter could have been a bit more lively and friendly but no complaints!
Price $$
Surprisingly very cheap consider all that you get! All entrees under $20!
Pros: All Vegan, Outside seating

Soooooo tasty - Edit
We had an amazing lunch!! This is my second time visiting the Butcher’s Daughter but, first time at this location. This spot is a bit smaller than their West Village Location or at least it feels that way but, it’s super cute. The staff was all friendly and attentive and it is literally the hottest day of the year and despite the heat and humidity they all were nice and did not seem irritable. I had the quesadilla and it was insanely tasty and full of flavor. We also tried the avocado toast and the yellow juice which was pineapple based. Loved those as well. For dessert we tried the tiramisu which is vegan and they even serve van Leeuwen’s chocolate ice cream. I would definitely come back!

Overpriced, Mediocre service - Edit
Firstly, I will give credit where credit is do: the food is good. However, it is rather overpriced, even for NYC. We paid $12 dollars for a LARGE order of potato skins, which consisted of one single potato (how generous 😤) Frankly, there’s better to eat for less. We also waited forever when the restaurant was only half full, but you know, whatever. Consider other options.

Confused staff - Edit
After I made my order I had to double check that whey new what vegan meant, there was egg inside the gluten free bread I had ordered so they had to make my brunch again, which led to our food not arriving at the same time. This is unfortunate but I hope they learn.

Good! - Edit
Of course I looooove NYC. So the location was great, the servers were good but not super hearty. My boyfriend had the burger with a egg sunny side up as a vegetarian (but you can have it plain or with avocado to stay vegan) and I had vegan glutenfree spaghetti with "meatballs". First I thought the portion looks a little small but indeed it was a lot. The food was good, no doubt but it didn't really hit me. The chocolate ganache the waitress recommended when I asked her was really delicious. That was definitely the highlight - the entree was okay (not bad but not special). I like that they offer mint infused water refills for free. They don't have endless choices, but I think that's ok.

Heaven on a Plate - Edit
The Butcher's Daughter is one of my new favorite restaurants (if only I didn't live 200 miles away!!!). The vibe is so chill—with a really clean and relaxed decor and great music. The menu is fantastic, and the food is phenomenal. I really appreciated the mint water that was provided upon being seated. I ordered a Reuben and, despite not being a huge sauerkraut fan myself, I found it positively scrumptious!

This place could really use some tofu... - Edit
Got the brass monkey which was yummy, and the breakfast bagel which was just okay... it had adzuku bean bacon and cashew cheese. The cheese wasn't melted at all and there was supposed to be an egg on it and I asked for it to be made vegan I assumed there would be tofu as a replacement but they did not. It needed tofu. Cute location though, love the atheistic. I decided to try this place out vs going back to Terri or Blossom du jour for breakfast... sadly wish I went to the other two instead.

My absolute heaven in the city! - Edit
The Butchers Daughter has long been my weekend chill spot, brunch spot, coffee spot, juice spot, and so much more! This restaurant is not full vegan but is all non dairy. There are ENDLESS possibilities for alterations and the menu never gets old! There homemade cashew milk is to die for (i get a cashew milk latte). My favorite brunch menu item is the cauliflower grits, lunch/dinner - tempeh kale caesar with vegan mayo! I love the layout of the restaurant and although small they manage to get people in and out INCREDIBLY fast without rushing you at all. The food comes super quick and the service is wonderful. I have no negatives when it comes to this delicious and inviting restaurant and cafe.

Good option for vegetarians - Edit
After visiting The Butcher's Daughter in L.A. I wanted to try the Manhattan location. Like most things NYC, the space is very tiny, a bit cramped when I went for Sunday brunch. Although I was aware this place is vegetarian, not vegan, I felt like the L.A. outpost had more vegan options available. The food was decent, but again, in comparison to the left coast, the portions seemed smaller. The staff was outstanding though, even on a very busy (stressful) Sunday for them, they were all pleasant and informative. Hoping to return to try something off their lunch/dinner menu.

I had the tacos and the cacao suave smoothie for brunch, it was absolutely delicious! Be advised that although it is dairy and meat free it is not vegan, with a lot of eggs on the menu. There are a couple of vegan options though, such as the tacos.
