Something unique in Stockholm

Carrot oil? Ỳou got it. Stem ginger? Cheap, too. Amchoor? Look no further. This place has it all, at least when it comes to all these hard-to-find ingredients that you may need when making Indian, Caribbean and other non-Westerner dishes.

I can't say I'm a regular, but at Taj Mahal I've found products that I previously didn't even know existed, such as super tasty Indian snacks from a brand called Bikaji. Not only that, they had passed the best before date or were about to, so they were sold dirt-cheap. Like 7 bags for 20 sek, a major bargain!

The latest discovery was to find canned jackfruit, both organic and fair trade. Not that I'm into the latest hipster trends, but good to know if I ever decide to make vegan pulled pork or the like. And what's more, it's only 39 sek! In contrast, a Stockholm shop that bills itself as having the largest vegan range in the whole country sells jackfruit at that very price.. only it's neither organic nor fairtrade.

All in all, Taj Mahal is a place that proves avoiding conformity can pay off.. in myriad ways.
