Simply Confusing - Edit

I’m not quite sure where I land on this one. On one hand, the flavours were pretty much exemplary, while on the other there were multitude of inconsistencies that muddied the water somewhat.
Let’s start with those bright notes. As stated, if I critiquing solely based on taste, this place would be an easy recommendation. Both burgers were juicy and texturally appealing, the soup was rich and hearty, and doner kebab, while not on par, was still respectable. Likewise, the popcorn tofu was a decent enough side, but it was the distinctive musakhan rolls that offered a real point of difference from anything else that I had ever had from similar establishments.
Now, to the low-lights. The clear and obvious starting point here is the portion sizes. Yes, the burgers were indeed delicious, but they were mere morsels, gone before I could properly savour them. Only the soup that came in serving that I would quantify as acceptable, though it suffered from an anaemic appearance that didn’t do it any favours. The fries had a similar pallor; not a dealbreaker, but certainly uninspiring. As for the kebab, it bore the weight of expectation that comes with the name and, sadly, didn’t quite deliver. It lacked the indulgent lusciousness and messy charm that one hopes for in such a dish.
In pushing to find a conclusion on this meal, I would ere on the side of slightly disappointed. There were positives to be found, but with stronger contenders nearby offering similarly styled fare with greater impact, I’m unlikely to return unless convenience dictates otherwise.
