Worth waiting in the rain! - Edit
Walked quite a long way to find the shop and when we found it, there was a substantial queue outside. Totally worth the wait even in the rain because the pastries were INCREDIBLE!! Without doubt the most amazing vegan pastry I’ve ever eaten. The pistachio cruffin was just so delicious. I’m just sad I don’t live in Amsterdam to be able to enjoy these all the time. If I ever come back I will be picking a hotel near to Saint-Jean!

Nice pastries but not exceptional - Edit
We went here on a Saturday morning for a light breakfast, worth beating in mind that Saturday was EXTREMELY busy maybe due to the local market so we did have to queue for around half and hour.
Read moreThere is very limited seating inside (a bench that sits around 6 people) so we took our food to go.
A coffee , hot chocolate and 2 pastries was just over 16 euro. The drinks were very nice as were the pastries but as I said not exceptional. We went for a pistachio cruffin and a cinnamon bun. The cruffin was a bit too crispy like it could have been taken out of the oven maybe a couple of minutes earlier and the cinnamon bun although was tasty it was quite firm and towards the end I was definitely fed up of the chewing! Cinamon buns I have had in the past have been light and fluffy , this has more of a firm bread like consistency. Would I go back again? Yes , would I queue half an hour to get in? No.
Pros: Tasty pastry, Nice drinks, Lovely location
Cons: Limited seating, Pastry could have been better

Pastry heaven! - Edit
Amazing food, friendly staff, delicious coffee with lots of plant milk options. We got the pistachio croissant & chocolate hazelnut croissant with a cappuccino & iced latte. Everything was outstanding & when we went there was no wait, but shortly after, a long queue developed. This place is so good, it’s worth the wait. We also bought a beautiful espresso cup & caraffe they sold & can’t wait to use them at home.

Amazing pastries - Edit
We went out of our way to try these pastries for breakfast when visiting Amsterdam. They did not disappoint and there was already a queue in front when we arrived. It's impossible to choose between sweet or savoury since everything looks so delicious. We had a selection of croissants and it was heaven. Incredible!

Amazing - Edit
Such amazing pastries! They are more expensive than supermarket pastries (in the UK there are barely any anyway) but it is so worth it! I bought nine pastries in the space of three days - no souvenirs for me, just pastries! I bought two pistachio cruffins, two pain au chocolat, a pain au chocolat and hazelnut, a pesto and mozzarella swirl, a pistachio and hazelnut croissant, a chocolate brioche slice and a summer cruffin. All fabulous!

A bit disappointing - Edit
There was a long waitingline, prices were not that expensive, but the flavours were not spectacular (lots of sugar, not a good balance) and often a bit dry. We tried 7 different pastry's. Personally, I would not come back for this. I think there are better vegan options.

MUST VISIT WHEN IN AMSTERDAM - Edit
Wow. Wow, wow, Freaking wow.
Read moreThis place is a full on patisserie with all vegan pastries and coffees. It is not an understatement that these are the best pastries I have ever had in my life.
When we rocked up, there was a bit of a line extending out into the street, and for good reason it turned out. The pastries were flaky but also chewy when you wanted them to be. the pesto scroll was salty and heavenly. If I lived in this neighbourhood I would come here every day for breakfast. This was seriously a phenomenal pastry shop.
The coffees took quite a while to be made, but we could have been waiting for 45 minutes and honestly I would still have given Saint-Jean 5 stars.
Easy 5 from niki_nine
Pros: Flaky, Good prices, All round deliciousness

Delicious pastries! My non-vegan parents absolutely loved what they ordered as well. Friendly and cool space.
Read moreI had the croissant, kouign-amann, and their daily special cruffin as well as a cappuccino. All were mouth watering and I wanted to order even more.
The only downside is there isn't much seating, but the taste more than makes up for this. Grab something and eat while taking in the sites!
