One of the best cafés I’ve ever visited - Edit
Not only was the cheese and leek toast and the artichoke focaccia completely delicious but the coffee was perfectly made too. The white chocolate pistachio bar is maybe the best thing I’ve ever eaten and I will keep thinking about it. Also had the fantastic matcha cookie, the babka and the pistachio cream cruffin which my husband said was his favourite of all time. Too hungry to take pics of it all🥲

It's not as good as it used to be - Edit
Unfortunately Saint-Jain is not the same anymore. They put less and less cream in the buns, used frozen berries instead of fresh ones, pastries are overbaked. And they no longer allow you to wait for a table to be free to sit inside. Stuff become more rude and unfriendly… it's a shame.

Sad to see the decline - Edit
We used to love this bakery — the place is truly unique and the assortment was stunning. Expensive, but worth it. Sadly, not anymore.
Read moreThey changed the recipes: their signature pastries now have almost no cream, the berries are soggy (probably frozen). The cream itself has become very heavy, more like sweetened whipped butter than the light, delicate filling it used to be. Very disappointing when you pay premium prices.
Also, they no longer allow waiting for a table inside. The queue is still huge, but it feels like they are trying to get rid of their loyal customers.
Pros: everything is vegan, Sweet
Cons: Quality dropped, Less friendly service

We were lucky to have had the experience of enjoying a variety of their pastries... everything was so good, freshly baked. Our absolute favourite was the pistachio filled cruffins.... heaven on earth!

Very nice & popular bakery! - Edit
We went there on a Friday afternoon. It was quite crowded, but the line moved pretty quickly! I had a latte with pistachio milk (first time trying this kind of milk — really nice!), a Hoisin Bun, and a matcha cookie. The Hoisin Bun was delicious, though a bit heavy for my taste. The matcha cookie was heavenly good! My boyfriend had a croissant and really loved it as well. Definitely a great spot to check out when you're in Amsterdam! 🥐

Love it - Edit
There can be a bit of a queue but goes fast and the pastries are delicious! Highly recommend the croffin with vanilla custard and coconut caramel YUM! It is a bit difficult to eat without a fork and knife but worth it. Matcha is also good here.

Great - Edit
The hazelnut snack was delicious, with orange and lemon notes elevating it beyond just a good snack.
Read moreThe snack filled with pistachio creme was very nice, but I disliked how much creme was pit into it.
The herbal lemonade was refreshing and flavourful, a great drink.
Definitely pricey (5€ for most snacks, 3-6 for drinks), but also incredibly tasty, would recommend.

Good coffee, pastries are too oily - Edit
Great coffee! All pastries I tried were way too oily, cruffin didn’t had much flavour at all.

Very crowded but well worth it! - Edit
Best croissant and pain au chocolat I’ve ever had. It warms my heart that a vegan place can reach this level of success (we queued for 10 minutes).

Unbelievable pastries! - Edit
The pastries are amazing! We had the cruffins, cinnamon twist, pain au choc & almond croissant. They were cooked to perfection, super crispy and really tasty. There is hardly any seating and it’s always so busy so you will have to wait for a long time to sit and eat, which is such a shame. The pastries are so good that it’s worth the wait, though, and I definitely recommend this place.

Very good but not worth queuing for hours - Edit
Went there on a weekday because I had noticed that on the weekends there can be a huge line outside and I didn’t want to queue for something I wouldn’t be sure was worth it. Yes their pastries were good, but I regret that they don’t advertise more the fact that it’s all vegan and as a consequence, this place has kind of become a TikTok/IG trend. People take pics of themselves with that food just because it’s cute and it gets views, without acknowledging the fact that it’s vegan. And prices are very expensive. I would recommend it, but wouldn’t queue for more than 15mins for this (I waited around 5mins on a Friday afternoon).

Nice flavours, not warm setting, friendly staff - Edit
I ended up here because my first choice didn’t have any vegan desserts. It was 15 minutes prior the closing time and the staff was still welcoming and friendly. I took the cruffin with pistachio and raspberry (nice combination), the one filled with hazelnut cream (very nice) and a espresso (not particularly good I think). The seating space was scarce but I think it’s on purpose. The setting in general felt a bit cold in contrast with the relaxing atmosphere set by the staff. It was almost empty.
