Sweet and savory delights - Edit
Delightful vegan pastry shop with coffees and pistachio soft serve ice cream. The tuna sandwich was awesome and felt like the real thing. The pastrami with mustard was nice too. Good creamy coffees. It was an operation trying to get a seat so we could enjoy our coffees. They say you need to order first before sitting but then you can’t be sure to get a table. Luckily we managed and brought sweet pastries from their place opposite as well. Yum! I’d love to try everything on the menu.

Cute little cafe in a quieter area of Amsterdam. All plant-based so you have all the pastries/sandwiches to choose from. The staff are friendly and nice and the food is tasty. Loved the cinnamon croissant and the Hoisin bun!

We had a Hoisin Bun and a Smoked Feta Galette from the savoury side and a fig tart and croissant pudding.
The hoisin bun was packed full of flavour and quite rich for the size of it.
The Galette was the best thing we tried. It was cheesy, spicy goodness.
The fig tart was lovely too, flaky pastry, sweet fig jam and a creamy topping.
The croissant pudding was lighter than I expected but still a little stodgy.
We were also offered a free salty pistachio ice cream that was delicious.
Would recommend a visit here as it all looked and smelled amazing.

Went there to grab some breakfast. No room to sit, because it's really popular, but the food was amazing. Loved the hoisin but. So much flavour! Also tried the chicken katsu sando, which was tasty also.

We had the Hoisin bun filled with seitan and it was absolutely delicious. It was very busy at the bakery with a really long queue, so we went to the Deli on the opposite side of the road where it was less crowded but we couldn’t find a place to sit so I took it to go. Would have loved to try more - there were amazing sandwiches including vegan halloumi and other protein packed breads and great looking croissants. It’s a bit on the pricy side but I wouldn’t expect otherwise in Amsterdam with that high quality food. Will be back!

I got the hosion bun, bolognse pastry, and a gochujang pork sandwich!
The hosion bun was very good, spices were yummm! And it had small seitan pieces.
The bolognse pastry was a BIG favourite in our friend group, it had really nice parmesan cheese as well!!!
And the sandwich was really good too! The gochujang pork was a little spicy, and it also had lettuce, carrot, and pickles. The bread was a really big portion lol... I ended up eating all of the filling and leaving some bread.
Also tried a strawberry pastry, and a pistachio soft serve from my friends!
My partner had the pistachio latte and said it was okay, wished it had more pistachio flavour...
Everything was superrr gooodddd. Will definitely return!

the pudding is kind of like a dense bread, imo it could be sweeter. its very heavy, i think thinner slices would be better. the sugary crust was perfect.
now the soft serve - i actually had no idea it was available here, so i found it by coincidence after wanting to try it for a long time. and listeeennnn - GET THIS!!! pure pistachio heaven, creamy, cold, rich, uuugghhh this might be the best ice cream ive ever had. no kidding.
visit this place fr, i wish id gotten savoury options as well.

I would highly recommend this place if you visit Amsterdam.

Saint-Jean know their stuff. I finally visited the deli and it did not disappoint. I ordered a paprika cheese croissant, orange almond cake, and a rather small but delicious hoisin bun to go. The bun in particular is amazing -- what a great idea too!
Read moreI wanted to get a sandwich for lunch but they were quite small and pricey (didn't seem worth it), so I stuck to the pastries instead. They know they are good at what they do and their prices reflect that. The price of being popular I guess!
