It has delicious well spiced vegan options and it has some interesting alternatives to the standard fare including - pancakes pizza and savoury doughnuts.

We had booked a table but the waiter didn’t ask so we sat at a table of our choice as it was initially empty. Despite not being busy the waiter talked over us twice, rushed us and wrongly preempted we would like to share a portion of poppadoms as he didn’t listen. It got worse as my dining partner was given her meal 20 minutes before me as the waiter had given her order to the wrong table. The food however was tasty but we won’t be back. The waiter brought our bill and said he gave us a discount rudely waving the card reader so we asked for time to look at the bill, he hadn’t even taken the full service charge off but we got a discount after a while of his excuses about what went wrong (not my issue)

Nice atmosphere, we were between lunch and dinner, so had the place to ourselves. We had Dahl soup, Masala dosa, saag aloo, sheera. Everything was great. Good service and clean restaurant.

I visited twice in the past year. The first time the service was helpful and the food was decent. It's in a really good location so even though the food isn't amazing, I suggested to another friend to go again. This time the food was not great. It was oily and my friend found hair in her food. They replaced the dish but still. We also paid for it. Really disappointed and would not go back again.

Overshadowed by Service - Edit
Sagar is an average Indian restaurant offering cuisine from the southern part of the country with clear vegan labels. A commendable meal but overshadowed by a bad service experience.
Read moreWe started with the Sagar Special Dosa: a rice and lentil pancake filled with a vegetable blend. The Dosa is soft and spongey, soaking up all the phenomenally spiced juices of the vegetable blend inside. A hearty amount of healthy heat lives in this dish so beware.
The Vegetable Kootu Curry disappointed. The dish was advertised and priced as a full meal but the amount of food presented was embarrassingly small. The taste was very subtle if not bland.
The Batura is a fun food experience, coming out like a fluffy, air-filled balloon. Fried perfectly, the Batura was served with two distinct sauces: one sweet and smooth the other spicy and gritty. Medu Vada, a fried lentil donut that is crispy on the outside and soft and crumbly on the inside, continued to impress and surprise me.
The dessert was a semolina-based cake with roasted cashews inside. It underwhelmed me but it’s not a dessert that fits my taste.
The service was mixed. We had a waiter add on 5 pounds to the bill before realizing that the restaurant mandatorily adds a percentage for a tip, hanging a shadow over the whole dining experience.
London is packed full of Indian restaurants. We chose Sagar because of the vegan-friendly labeling and advertising. I don’t regret going to Sagar but the service brought the experience down, leaving me with thoughts that my money would have been better spent somewhere else.

Wow! Food was delicious and the house-made drinks were incredibly tasty. The whole menu is vegetarian with a large number of vegan options, all clearly marked.

I loved everything about my meal here, so many options and amazing flavours. We ordered a curry each, a selection of rices / bread and we only paid £20 each. Super reasonably price and the food is honestly incredible. The staff here are also lovely and very conscientious - will be back!

Great place in Central London - Edit
We have been to Sagar quite a few times and we really like it. As a location you couldn’t get much better! Right across the road from the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
