Cute shop, good food, good prices

A good vegan option when visiting Nara Park. I've seen some reviews saying it can take a long time to receive food. For me it only took 10 minutes, but there wasnt a lot of people in the restaurant.
Gluten free options are limited. I ordered the dandan rice noodles, but they have soy sauce in them.

Good tasty food

The freshness of the food and some dishes that I haven't often seen on vegan menus in Japan make this place worth seeking
The falafel burger salad combo was lovely. Homemade bread and delicious salad dressing stood out
Lady running the place is lovely

In love with the food and the place

The restaurant itself is charming and I was in awe of the owner, by herself she managed to take orders, prepare the food, clean the tables and charge the people as they left, and the place was PACKED, and even so it took less than 20 minutes for the food to arrive, I was impressed. The food was delicious, I had the Karaage bento and the tofu nuggets, they were both super good. There’s a sign that says that they don’t accept children though, just so you know. I guess it must be difficult to manage taking into account all else that she has to do. But that makes the place nice and quiet.

Pros: Karaage bento, Tofu nuggets, Cozy

Best food in Nara

We went there 10min after opening and it was busy. Make sure to be on time otherwise you will wait a very long time. We waited about 40 min. The food was worth the wait. Absolutly amazing

food served in the owner/cook’s home who does the cooking, serving and billing. can take time if there are a few tables waiting so be patient. the karaage bento and the fermented rice soft serve were the highlight!

Wow. Just wow.
The BEST food we ate in all of Japan.
The food, the atmosphere, the staff, all just right.
The place is right near the park, just a short walk, entering a small sweet restaurant that feels just like home.

Pros: Heavenly food, Feels like home , Cute and kind staff

Unwilling to seat a large group

Unwilling to seat a large group, even when the group offered to split into two four-tops. Made an excuse about other guests waiting, though we had waited outside before opening and before other guests arrived.

Cons: Refused to seat us

Sweet place

Decent sized menu, food came quickly and I think it’s just the owner working alone. Good size portions and nice flavours. Especially enjoyed the bread on the burger. Slightly out of the way from the main shop area but a nice walk up the hill to get there.

Lovely place

Such a cosy restaurant, owned by a passionate vegan woman.

The food was visibly prepared with care and tasted excellent.

Similar to some other vegan restaurants where 1 person does everything, the whole place screams of their personality.

Ice cream is lovely.

You must visit this hidden gem in Nara!

This restaurant is a hidden gem, located on a quiet street a short walk away from the main sights in Nara. It's a great place to relax and wind down for lunch after a morning of exploring Nara Park. The ambience is very quiet, peaceful, and traditional. There's a small outdoor seating area. There is only one lady who doesn't speak English who runs the place, so service was a bit slow, but I enjoyed that it allowed time for relaxation.

You MUST get the cutlet burger plate!! The burger patty itself was crispy and delicious, as was the burger bun (which kind of reminded me of the texture of steamed buns). It came with generous sides: green salad, pickles, potato salad, fried eggplant, vegetable tempura, spring roll, and a skewer of fried goodness (not sure what it was).

It was a bit pricey, but that's to be expected for a touristy area and it's totally worth it for the tasty food and peaceful experience. Please note that they accept cash only.

Great vegan food near Nara park :)

Cute and cozy restaurant a short walk away from Nara Park. My wife and I both got the Karaage bento which was delicious!

The owner cooks and serves the food all by herself, and was very kind. We arrived right at opening time, and it reached capacity quickly.

I highly recommend Vegan Cafe Ramuna😄

Pros: Cozy atmosphere, Delicious food, Friendly owner

One woman show with a love for cats!

This was one of my favourite spots in Japan—a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Nara. It’s a small, cozy café run by a single woman with a love for cats.

The fully vegan menu was fantastic, and our meals were perfect—no complaints at all.

Since it’s a one-woman operation, arriving early is best, or be prepared for a wait.

The café is cash only. If you have any spare change, consider donating to the collection box near the register, which supports a cat rescue.

Not Closed!

Happy Cow states this cafe is closed but my partner and I were so hungry we decided to inspect. We were so glad we did because it was a great experience.

The setting is warm and cozy, the food was simple, affordable and delicious, and the lady who owns/runs the cafe is so sweet.

It is run by one staff member so expect a delay if it is busy. There were 2 tables seated, and we waited for 20 minutes but it was well worth it.

Pros: Affordability , Comfort, Taste

Cons: Understaffed

Amazing

Such an incredible meal at Ramona. The vegan karaage was out of this world good and the vegan burger plate was right up there with it. Wish I was staying longer, would come back in a heart beat! The owner/chef provided kind, swift service. The space was so cozy and inviting. Highly recommend for vegans/non-vegans alike.

Pros: Food, Service , Ambiance

Arrive early for this unique lunch experience!

I arrived about 5 minutes early on a Monday and was the first to arrive, but by opening time at 1pm a small line was beginning to form. Highly recommend you arrive early as this is a walk-in only lunch spot.

Vegan Cafe Ramona is run by one woman. There are about four tables inside and three small ones outside. Very homey inside with cute trinkets and cat decore.

We tried the Karage Bento Box and the Dan Dan Noodles. Both of which were delightful. The Karage Bento Box was my personal favorite—this is how a bento box should be!! Perfectly fried tofu and lightly fried vegetable tempura with some additional sides.

Please go and support this local vegan cafe!!

Expect to wait

The wait was comically long (1.5 hours for only 3 groups/5 people in front of me), but the food was great and the owner seems nice. In the end, I’m not sure if it was worth the wait.

Be patient and you’ll be rewarded

Be prepared to wait for service here as it is one lady doing it all! We came when the restaurant was fairly full of patrons already and waited 30-40min to be seated, a couple people joined waiting behind us but I think gave up and left - however, im glad we stayed! All up waiting be seated, order and food to be cooked took just over an hour, but it was a reminder to slow down and be patient. The food was absolutely lovely, such a personal touch on everything, freshly cooked and delicate.

We had the karaage set, burger sets and Dan Dan noodles. Burger set was a highlight, so many elements to try and all delicious. You could tell how lovingly hand crafted each element was, and it’s a miracle how fast that one lady works to prepare it all!

In terms of ambience, it’s a beautiful and homely little place tucked away on side street, gorgeous dining area out the front and very cute interior with lots of cat decor (and two cute cats sitting out the back garden to top it all off)

Must visit destination when in Nara

Pros: Burger plate , Decor and ambience , Exceptional effort from owner

Cons: Long wait if you’re in a rush (though worth it!)
