Amazing Food

My wife and I went here last night and the food was amazing! The service was really good and the owner took the time to come and talk to us and check everything was ok. It was also lovely to see the restaurant so busy. Overall, great food and experience, would definitely recommend.

Lovely food, lovely people (and dog-friendly too!)

Visited Plantuguese last Friday and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a cosy vibe that makes it perfect for a laid-back evening out. Service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm without feeling overbearing.

I had the lion’s mane mushroom steak, which was a real standout — beautifully cooked, deeply savoury, and incredibly satisfying. My wife ordered the Francesinha, and it was rich, indulgent, and full of flavour, clearly inspired by the traditional Portuguese classic but done brilliantly plant-based.

The menu is quite limited, but honestly, that feels like a strength rather than a drawback. Everything we had felt very considered and well executed, and it’s refreshing to see a restaurant focus on doing a smaller number of dishes really well.

It’s also very dog-friendly — our dog Ronnie came along and absolutely loved all the attention he got from both the staff and other diners, which just added to the warm, welcoming feel of the place.

Overall, Plantuguese is a fantastic addition to Bristol’s vegan scene — great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be back.

Pros: The menu, Friendly staff, Atmosphere

Amazing!

A cosy restaurant, with friendly service and amazing food. The white sangria and the pastel de nata with coconut ice-cream for dessert were especially great!

Amazing vegan Portuguese food!

This place works wonders with vegan food making so many cool portugues dishes you didn't even think could be vegan-ised! Their mushroom 'scallops' were amazing as was the chowder dish, the nori really brought out a fishy flavour. And of course you have to get a pastel de nata for dessert, I would eat these everyday if I could!

Yestuguese!!!

Wow, believe the hype.

The seating spaces are tight yet this adds to the buzz of the place.

The staff are friendly, efficient and welcoming.

The food is filling, distinctive and flavoursome (see pics and check their website for updates on the menu).

An extra shout out to the epic Pastel de Nata.

The plan is to work our way through the entire menu over the coming months.

Plants pitched perfectly

A fantastic range of options from small plates and sides to main dishes. I loved the ‘sardines’ made from tofu and seaweed and the ‘scallops’ made from oyster mushrooms. The pastel de nata for dessert was a perfect ending to the meal. What a great addition to Bristol’s vegan restaurant offerings.

Absolutely bangin’

So good, food top tier, i had the ‘cod’ and potato dish and it was phenomenal. Non vegan friends enjoyed theirs. I’m local to southampton and these guys come to our vegan market so I have bee lucky enough to already know they’re good from the market, but sitting in having a different dish sangria was great. The vibe/decor of the restaurant is really nice too!

Plantugese’s expansion to Stokes Croft is amazing!

The food was incredible. Service was excellent and the aesthetic genuinely makes you feel like you’re abroad, even though we dined on a cold evening in January 😅 So pleased Plantugese now has its own restaurant space and has expanded further. Will be back!

Yes, yes and YES!

Come with me to Bristol's newest vegan restaurant, Plantuguese !

We had the entire small plates menu because we couldn't decide what to have. 😅 Sadly they were out of octopus but we had some delicious oyster mushrooms instead.

The food was like nothing I have ever tasted and each dish was so rich with sauce, we ordered some extra bread to mop it all up!

Highlight dishes:

Camarãro De Fricassé (prawns)

Pica-Pau (beef stew)

I'm desperate to go back and enjoy a jug of sangria on a warm spring evening. 😍

A great team with delicious food.

Pros: Deep & interesting flavours, Friendly staff, Great menu

Unbelievable food

I never managed to catch them at a market but I'm so lucky they've now got a restaurant 5 minutes from my house.

The Franchesina was perfect and the gravy was deep and rich.

Will be going back asap!

Mind blowing

I would have loved the food from Plantuguese even before going vegan. I’m so happy I could try such a heavy francesinha sandwich. Best pastel de nata I had so far. Would highly recommend for vegans who used to be heavy meat eaters.

Amazing Portuguese food

I have been a fan of Plantuguese for some time now, and their food really takes me back to my time in Porto.
I'm so excited that they now have a permanent restaurant from which to serve their delicious meals.

Amazing food!

I still haven't visited the restaurant- but I had Plantuguese at a festival at the end of the summer!
I had the prawns on sourdough bread in a garlicky sauce and honestly they were incredible!
And the pastel de nata 🤤
When I saw that they were opening a restaurant I was so stoked!!
As soon as Christmas is out of the way I'm going to do a Bristol trip just so I can visit and I seriously cannot wait!! 😁

A beautiful restaurant run by beautiful people

From one vegan business owner to another, we have to say Plantuguese has done a stunning job. The interior is beautiful, spacious, and well-decorated, with a mural and lighting that adds a real homely Portuguese vibe. It’s dog-friendly, pleasant, and relaxing. The menu is easily the most unique 100% vegan offering in Bristol, if not the UK. Everything is cooked fresh, including the delicious pastéis de nata. You have to try this place!
Bristol, you are so lucky!

Pros: Cleanliness, it's spotless, delicious food, Dog friendly, Easy, reservation, transaction process.

Cons: We live 2 hours 😄

First ever vegan Portuguese food

This is the first time I've had vegan Portuguese food and the mains are outstanding! I had the vegan cod dish and the seafood rice. It really tasted like seafood, which I do miss a lot being vegan. The pastel de nata is AMAZING and I could easily scoff 5 in one go.

I think some of the small plates can come off a bit bland. I didn't enjoy the oyster mushroom scallops. It lacked flavour & needed something to brighten it up. The sardines were okay but the bread it was served on was just normal toast. I'd stick to the mains tbh!
