Delicious vegan dining experience - Edit
(Visited 17. April 2023)
Read moreVisited with a group of 22 people (booked in advance). Had 6 course dinner which was fantastic. Really tasty and varied. Would also recommend to get the all you can drink menu to go with the food (good value). Restaurant also sells vegan goods.
Portion sizes might be a bit small if not having a multiple course dinner (Although I have a bigger apetite).
Staff was super helpful and welcoming! The interior was cozy and lovely. Would definitely recommend visiting!

Hi

Hi! I wasn't the one booking it, but I understood there's a calendar for reservations in the website (website link in Google search). Just checked it out and you might have to use a google's translate feature as there isn't (to my knowledge) an english version.

Fantastic! - Edit
We loved Paprika so much! The food was good, the place beautiful and the staff very friendly. 10/10 all around! The lunch menu is pretty extensive, and the set menu offers generous portions. The desserts were nothing short of incredible - we would have come back if we’d been here longer.

Vegan heaven in a non vegan city - Edit
Reservations are recommended, but at 6pm on Saturday we were seated with no issues. The food was wonderful and we did stick with the japanese foods; no pizza. The atmosphere is cute and hippy, and the staff are so kind! My non-vegan wife got the karaage and loved it! The fried gyoza were to die for!

Great lunch set and stirfry - Edit
I had an amazing lunch here at paprika, given the other reviews I was on the fence about going for lunch but I thought it was one of the best meals I have had in Japan. I had the soy meat stir fry lunch plate and it was amazing. My partner had one of the beyond burgers and loved it. The soy karaage was also great. It definitely can add up but the lunch plate was huge and I thought it was good value. There is also a little grocery store of sorts with cookies, fake meats etc.
Read moreI would love it if they had more drink options i.e. ice chai etc. But that is a very minor critic.

Delicious dinner, ok lunch - Edit
Went here twice. The first time I had a teriyaki burger for lunch. It could have used a lot more sauce, so it was a little disappointing. The dinner on the other hand, especially the Japanese stir-fried tempe, was delicious! The service is also lovely😄

Good rice dishes, but… - Edit
We went here a couple years ago and had a pizza that was terrible. Still we decided to give Paprika a second chance but this time we went for the more Asian dishes. Luckily, these were fine. Healthy, tasty and good size portions. All in all a good restaurant with a mellow vibe, but I would suggest not to order the pizza.

Great Osakan Vegan Lunch - Edit
We split two dishes on our visit: the Soy Meat Karaage Set (¥1450) and their Vegan Loco Moco (¥1540). Loved their soy meat set which included brown rice, salad, and soup. The presentation was on point and the soy meat chicken was very good, albeit a bit on the saltier side. Lots of food for a lunch plate.
Read moreThe loco moco was also a great treat. They use a homemade soy patty with gravy on a bed of greens with gravy. Both of these dishes were definitely filling and it made my heart happy to have found some great vegan food.
But we can't forget about dessert either. We went with their dessert set (¥1200) which included ice cream, brownie, and a raspberry cheesecake. The ice cream was my definite fave and went really well with the brownies.
Like other vegan restaurants, they also sell products such as soy meat and cup noodles for the vegan traveler.
Thanks Paprika for a great experience!
Pros: Desserts set was delicious, Excellent ambiance

Wet pizza. What a joke - Edit
The reviews on here are amazing. My friend and I were incredibly excited to try the margarita pizza that are on the pictures for this restaurant. The cheese was literally wet yellow syrup. Not even like nice cheese sauce. ALSO we ordered two pizzas, only got one. When we asked about the second pizza they said they had sold out. We only tried the one pizza, and it was bad. But the other food on the other people’s tables looked nice. We also tried the brownie which was okay but nothing spectacular. I don’t know why the reviews are so amazing for this place. My advice, don’t get the pizza.

Love for veganisme is there. But no love for good tasting food. - Edit
Vegan food in Japan isn't that available and to see a place that show Japan that we al should be vegan is a great start.
Read moreBut the quality of the dishes are low. No taste or some taste. I just know that vegan food sloud be better tasting. In the land of miso and soy saus I just aspects more depth in a dish.
If you decide to eat here. I think you have more luck with the Asian inspired dishes than the European.

Came upon this place by chance as I was in the area. Selected the meal in one as I didn’t k ow what to have. They are so many options! Was great in taste, texture and presentation. I didn’t get a picture of it as I was too hungry. The soy cheesecake was lovely. I was full when I left and would love to go again.

A bit disappointed (sorry!) - Edit
I was very excited to visit here after reading so many amazing reviews. I saw that many reviews mentioned the eel dish, and after quite a lot of underwhelming vegan fish dishes over the last few years, I was hesitant to try it but trusted the reviews… But I regretted ordering it once my food came out😒it didn’t have much flavour at all, it was just mushy with a thin bit of nori underneath. The sauce on top was nice but I only had a tiny bit of it. The brown rice underneath was just that, brown rice. For the price I paid for the dish I was really disappointed and wish I had chosen something else. I dined with someone else who ordered the vegan karaage with cheese sauce. It was lovely and presented well but expensive for the portion, especially with no rice. That being said, the food is GMO free, chemical free, sugar free etc so the price will naturally be higher, and I appreciate that. I seriously don’t recommend the eel dish at all though despite what other reviews say. Also the baked tofu cheesecake was just that, it tasted of pure uncooked tofu with some kind of flour. I hate to leave a bad review. I think I just chose badly. The lady next to us ordered pasta and it looked and smelt delicious..! Also the staff were wonderful.

Wide selection of Japanese style food - Edit
Throughly enjoyed my meal. Had the karaage set meal and two appetizers - the fried “oysters” and 5-piece gyoza. Wasn’t expecting the set meal to be as big as it was so only really needed on appetizer. Set meal comes with rice, salad , soup, and pickles. Tasted great. Only downside was the karaage soaks up alot of the oil. If I would do it again I would get the oysters set meal and gyoza appetizer. Those were both solid items
