Positive first - sauces are lovely, the curry sauce is really nice.
The Tofish however is very underwhelming. It is just fried tofu - some nori sheets or flavouring would have helped.
Good chips and sauces/toppings are vegan (gravy, curry, beans and peas). The tofish isn’t great though.
Unfortunately the use milk in the Pattie, this would be great if they removed it!!
Expensive. Cold. Tofish desperately needed seasoning. Food was lukewarm. Service was extremely slow. Only 4 or 5 small tables in when we went yet it took an hour between sitting down and getting our food. Complained to staff when asked how the food was. They offered a replacement but we were already part way through our meals and didn't want to wait ages for a replacement. They offered us a dessert or drink for free which we declined but they wouldn't offer a discount on the meals or to take the drinks off the bill that we'd already had. So the best part of £50 for 3 mains and 3 drinks. The restaurant was freezing too.
Not the best option for Chips in Cleethorpes - Edit
Really not the best chips in Cleethorpes, the battered tofu isn't anything special either.
Difficult to get chips in Cleethorpes as they often use beef dripping but there are a couple of chip shops that use a veg oil. The other option to this one is Meg's which isn't far from Papa's. Meg's is far better in my opinion.
Lovely staff who were very helpful and attentive. Unfortunately the main dish we went for (tofish and chips) is often cooked with the other gluten-free options so couldn't be guaranteed to not be cooked with fish. Chips also cooked in beef dripping unless explicitly requested otherwise. Again, lovely staff but disappointed that a dish labeled "suitable for vegans" has the potential to be cooked with fish. Waste of an otherwise great effort option.
It’s rare to find tofish & chips, so was delighted to find this on the menu. It was a large portion, and the chips were delicious. The tofish was battered tofu-which was a little bland, so definitely order a side portion of mushy peas to add some flavour. The setting is amazing-seaview seats get snapped up quickly

Very nice tofish and chips. - Edit
Very nice but would've been even better if they had wrapped the tofu in seaweed as it would've given it a more fishy taste.

Flavourless Tofish - Edit
Tofish didn't taste of anything. Greasy food. Have had much better Vegan fish and chip alternatives in the past.

Tasteless tofish and chips but excellent service - Edit
Took a retired colleague for a drive out for his birthday.
Read moreHe had a fab time and loved the food. They even brought him a doughnut with a candle in and sang happy birthday.
My experience wasn’t as good but the staff are very attentive. It was my first ever time in a papas and I won‘t be rushing back anytime soon.
£11.99 for 4 pieces of bland battered tofu and some very scrappy chips.
The mushy peas were plentiful but £1.89 extra!
We didn’t have sauces but I’d have beengest upset as they brought them out to others in little plastic pots.
Pros: Exceptional service, Lovely surroundings , Decent portion of tofish
Cons: Tasteless food, Scrappy chips, Expensive

Disappointing - Edit
Staff were nice and the food portions generous, but the tofish and chips (and mushy peas) were tasteless. Disappointing.
