Organic Excellence…! - Edit
When we were in Lisbon, we couldn’t resist checking out the vegan spots on Happy Cow. One of the top-rated restaurants we found was Organi Chiado, which is just a short walk from our place in the Bairro-Alto. So, we decided to go for lunch and see what all the fuss was about!
Read moreThe place was already packed when we got there, but the inside had a cool, sophisticated vibe. Our server was super friendly and attentive. Of course, all that sightseeing had made us thirsty, so we started with a couple of super cold Super Bocks.
For our main course, we shared an appetizer of bread and pâtés. Oh my gosh, the spreads were amazing! There were three different ones: Basil Tofu, Olives-Walnut, and Peanut Butter-Apple. All of them were delicious, but the Basil Tofu was my favorite. It was so refreshing and smooth, and it was unlike anything I’d ever tasted before — not made out of tofu, anyway.
Organi Chiado has two different specials that change (I believe) every day, and on our first visit, we both couldn’t resist the Braised Tofu (served with lime rice, a side salad, and tempura veggie crisp). It was incredible! Hands down, the best food we’d had up to that point. And the prices were surprisingly reasonable, considering how fancy the place was.
We left feeling totally satisfied and made a mental note to come back to Chiado Organi soon. But guess what? The very next day, we went to another vegan restaurant that was a total disaster. We were so hungry and disappointed that we ran straight back to Organi to save the day! (This time around, again, we shared a larger order of the bread and pâtés; I did cheesy penne pasta; Jay the lasagna. And, too, we shared a pecan pie with house-made ice cream. O.M.G…!!!) And not only did it save us, but we also got to catch up with our friend from the day before, which was really nice.
Simply awesome!!!

The "bathroom" door was a swinging salloon door and just a loose way to set the kitchen door apart from the bathroom but the walls from the actual bathroom area are not fully closed rooms which was pretty weird.

Excellent food, problematic behaviour towards animals - Edit
We are ethical vegans, as in, not in in for the lifestyle or to be healthy. We ate here a couple of times and we thought the food was excellent. Unfortunately, the last time we ate there another couple on the patio was shooing away a pigeon and one of the waiters decided he would pretend stomp it. It upset my partner to the point that he refused to leave a tip. Makes you wonder how many of these restaurants are in it because they actually care about how animals are treated.

Had a lovely lunch here, I choose a lentil daal. It was lovely but needed a bit of salt and pepper to perk it up. The salad was unfortunately drenched in mayo, I would ask them to leave this off next time. Personal preference!

Absolutely amazing food! I had a caeser salad and it was absolutely amazing. My friends both had the penne dish and they were equally amazing. The starter of pate and vegan cheese were sooooo good! Nice food in a very nice location. The staff is also very friendly. They have some Portuguese dishes and everything is organic and somehow seasonal, which is nice. Maybe only defect I can find is that dishes are a bit too salty for my taste, especially the vegan cheese (which was otherwise tasty), and not too flavorful.

I heard a lot about this restaurant until I had the chance to visit. Yesterday I did it and it was awesome. I had the chance to sit outside, where is very nice. The Sangria was amazing, and all the food, from the entries to the dessert, was perfect. My husband had the lasagna, and we can say it was the best lasagna of our lives. I got a ceasar salad, and it was enough for me haha I loved it and surely will come back!
