Worth the wait - Edit
Waited around an hour and a half but it was well worth it. Awesome little spot entirely run by 1 super sweet woman. Tons of options and endless amounts of cheap beer.

Oriental Vegetarian (Allium-free) - Edit
A cozy shop that serves oriental vegetarian options. Very friendly staff, she seems to be the only one handling the whole shop - taking orders, cooking and serving food. Really love the food there, everything was so delicious. Note that even though it's open till 2 am, she mentioned that she will close earlier if sold out.

Would give 5 stars - Edit
First time I had okonomiyaki and oh boy was it good and so were the gyozas. The food along with the charming atmosphere of the place made this one probably my favourite restaurant of 2 week trip across Japan. There's a vegan/vegetarian menu and a self-service bar with all drinks for 180 yen each.

Best Vegan Okonomiyaki in Osaka - Edit
OKO is hands down the best spot for plant-based okonomiyaki in Osaka.
Read moreThis tiny shop is located on the second floor with limited bar seating and few tables for small groups. Do not bring a large group here or you'll end up having to squeeze into one of the small tables.
We ordered the vegan okonomiyaki "American" size for about ¥2400. A steep price at first, but once we saw how much food came out, we felt it was justified. You get to select five (5) toppings to go into your okonomiyaki. I highly recommend adding potatoes and eggplants to bump up the hearty content of this giant, Japanese pizza.
While it's not a traditional okonomiyaki, the food was absolutely delicious with big portions. We also tried their gyoza which were equally as impressive.
The shop seems to be run by one person and she was very friendly and accommodating especially to English speakers. Visit this spot if you're in town for a more intimate dining experience.
Pros: Excellent portions and food, Intimate setting
Cons: Wait can be long when busy

An amazing find in Osaka for vegan okonomiyaki - Edit
I never thought I’d find a vegan okonomiyaki without a significant effort but I stumbled upon this place as I was walking around a suggested shopping district. The restaurant is small but has a 5 star atmosphere. Music playing, decorated with love and the staff are amazing. It feels like you’ve been invited to their home and they’ll make you exactly what you need!

Never thought I would have okonomiyaki and it was vegan! The owner took time to chat to us while she was busy making okonomiyaki and yakisoba. The amount of food was just right.

Good food! - Edit
Vegan or vegetarian okonomiyaki! Yes please!! Alot of veggie options to add. I really liked the mushrooms and would have doubled up on those. For a single person the small is more than enough food. I also ordered the vegan gyoza which was 👌. Only one person (the owner) was working and was very sweet. Despite being the only person taking orders and cooking she handled it very well.

Cozy bar with amazing food - Edit
During my first attempt there was a bit of a line (with good reason) so I came back later in the evening and was able to get a table to myself. If you're a bit of a night owl this place open late even during weekdays. I ordered okonomiyaki (medium size) and some gyozas. If you're going by yourself be mindful this is pretty massive size. In hindsight small size would've been fine.
Read moreIt's super fun choosing you're own options. I would recommend to not be in not be in too much of a rush, as there was only one staff member doing everything and she was pretty much run off her feet cooking and serving, the poor darling, but was super cheerful nonetheless!
You need to self serve your own alcohol which was fine and easy to do. The menu gives clear instructions to just let the staff know you're getting another drink.
I had a lot of fun eating solo, and I'm sure it'd be even better with friends as it's a lively atmosphere.
Pros: Super tasty, Choose your own okonomiyaki toppings, Friendly staff
Cons: Seating is a little small if you're tall

Sigh - Edit
Let me preface this by saying I respect the hell out of the proprietor, Shiho-chan, who does EVERYTHING herself. But I just didn’t enjoy my experience here. Loud, uncomfortable, and the okonomiyaki didn’t taste like any okonomiyaki I’ve ever had. I didn’t like it. My husband had fun though, so your mileage may vary. I give it two stars, he gives it four, hence our combined score of three stars.

Great food and cheap drinks - Edit
This quaint place is definitely worth checking out, especially before a night out. Was stoked to find vegan okonomiyaki. My girlfriend and I were going to just share a large okonomiyaki, but the waitress informed us we both were required to order a meal (fair enough given the size of the restaurant and fairly standard for Japanese establishments), so instead we ordered a medium okonomiyaki and the yakisoba. I’m glad we did because the yakisoba was so good, the sauce was amazing.
Read moreYou can customise the okonomiyaki by choosing which ingredients you want and the wait staff confirm what is and isn’t vegan using a printed chart so there is no confusion.
Cool atmosphere with a kooky waiter and cute cat and dog videos constantly playing on a TV in the corner to keep you entertained as you eat and drink you fill of 180¥ drinks!
