A friend recommended this place and said I need to be there before opening... he wasn’t wrong. Get in early!

Long wait but worth waiting for to try vegan okonomyaki - Edit
Separate vegan and veggie menu, you can customize your own okonomyaki and choose the size plus 5 veggies. Vegan cheese comes at an extra charge. Try to come in when they open at 18:00 and grab a ticket from the machine. The place is run by one person so the queue can sometimes take two hours. We arrived at 18:30 and waited about 45 minutes. Also, it's greasy so maybe not the right place if you're not a fan of greasy food. But great to go with non vegans since there are non vegan options available.

Worth 5 stars - Edit
I would have given 5 stars but it isn't fully vegan / veggie so Happy Cow won't allow it. Lots of v options, food and drink is at a ludicrously good price, the atmosphere is perfect and the gal that runs the place is a gem!
Read moreIt is our first night in Osaka and I can guarantee that this will be a daily stop for us.

Amazing place! - Edit
Absolutely amazing okonomiyaki place in Osaka.
Read moreThe owner does it all herself, from taking orders, to cooking, cleaning and taking payments. It only seats 14 people and there is always a long queue out the door.
There's a ticket system at the front door where you get a ticket and can then check online where in the queue you are.
Be aware, the first night we tried to go we waited well over 2 hours before giving up, so the second night we were there 30 mins before opening!
You serve yourself alcohol and other drinks.
Owner is lovely, such a cool and fun place!

Favorite okonomiyaki - Edit
We arrived on time for the opening and there were already 3 people waiting. So come on time if you don’t want to wait for a table! The owner was really sweet and the food was amazing. We were 2 people and shared the fried noodles and one okonomiyaki size M and it was very filling

So worth the wait - Edit
We loved this place. Partner and I arrived just after 6 and were 7th in line. It was a 2 hour wait. This didn't bother usas we got to walk around Dotonbori, do some shopping, and experience Osaka nightlife.
Read moreOne inside, you'll be warmly greeted by the owner, who is so so sweet. She works all by herself, but the service is fantastic and works just fine. While you wait you can write a little message on the wall and pour yourself a beer.

Long wait but worth it - Edit
As others have said be prepared to wait 2-3 hours. We came at about 6:40 and we were 9th in line. We got a notification about 2.5 hours later that our table was ready. This was fine with us and we were able to walk around and explore Osaka at night in this time. The food was phenomenal and so cheap for food and drinks. The whole space inside is so cool and I am so glad we came. Be warned about the large okinomiyaki though, between 2 of us we weren't even able to finish it (and gyoza's). I like that you can pick your vegetables and that it caters to basically everyone. The owner was so incredibly sweet and she's going a mile a minute to do everything herself.

Best vegetarian okonomiyaki in Japan - Edit
Okay I was prepared to give this place a one star due to how long the wait is. I got there at 6 pm, 13th in line (this place is INSANELY popular, be there early) and I couldn't get into the restaurant till 9. You get a ticket with a QR code that updates you so you can just take a stroll around shinsaibashi/namba while you wait. But after I got in all my frustrations disappeared. It's just 1 person running the whole tiny restaurant, she's doing absolutely everything. Giving out line tickets (the ipad was broken so she had to do it herself), taking orders, cooking, serving, putting away/cleaning used dishes. She was so kind and sweet too it was a great place. But I wouldn't give it a good rating just because of that, the food itself was insanely good and decently sized portions for a good price. There's nothing better in Osaka.

3-hour wait - wouldn’t repeat - Edit
Got here at 6:05 pm and was 11th in line. At least there is a digital queue so you can go elsewhere while you wait. I hadn’t expected needing to wait until 9 pm for my seat though. The place is adorable and completely run by a young girl (ordering, cooking, cleaning). She’s so sweet and dedicated to her craft! The food was yummy and I’m glad I tried this once, but I wouldn’t repeat it given the wait.

Best meal in Japan so far - Edit
We came here in search of okonomiyaki and weren't disappointed. We arrived early (before 6pm) to a queue but quickly got our number to wait (number 10) and access to the app to track progress whilst we explored the local area.
Read moreWe sat down to eat just before 9pm and feasted on vegan gyozas before having our okonomiyakis. We were able to choose five vegetables to add and added the vegan cheese option (highly recommended). We also took the drink option too (¥180 for each drink).
The food was outstanding and the vegan mayonnaise made a fantastic addition too. If we could give 5 stars for this, we would have.
A must try when you visit Osaka.
Pros: Great food, Comfortable environment, Good drink options
Cons: Be prepared to queue - it's so worth it

Must visit in Osaka - Edit
We came around 9 PM and waited about 1.5 hours. There's a hot water machine and some tea bags at the top of the stairs, so you can have some tea while you wait in the queue. There was an iPad for taking a number but it was out of order. The place is extremely cute. It's clear that the owner put a lot of love and care into it. We ordered okonomiyaki with vegan cheese (you can pick 5 toppings) and vegan gyozas. The owner also brought us some vegan mayo. Everything was super tasty. Medium portion was huge. Don't even think of ordering the large portion if you're not sharing.

Cons: Longue attente , 1 seul staff

Oriental Vegetarian (Allium-free) - Edit
A cozy shop that serves oriental vegetarian options. Very friendly staff, she seems to be the only one handling the whole shop - taking orders, cooking and serving food. Really love the food there, everything was so delicious. Note that even though it's open till 2 am, she mentioned that she will close earlier if sold out.

First time I had okonomiyaki and oh boy was it good and so were the gyozas. The food along with the charming atmosphere of the place made this one probably my favourite restaurant of 2 week trip across Japan. There's a vegan/vegetarian menu and a self-service bar with all drinks for 180 yen each.

Best Vegan Okonomiyaki in Osaka - Edit
OKO is hands down the best spot for plant-based okonomiyaki in Osaka.
Read moreThis tiny shop is located on the second floor with limited bar seating and few tables for small groups. Do not bring a large group here or you'll end up having to squeeze into one of the small tables.
We ordered the vegan okonomiyaki "American" size for about ¥2400. A steep price at first, but once we saw how much food came out, we felt it was justified. You get to select five (5) toppings to go into your okonomiyaki. I highly recommend adding potatoes and eggplants to bump up the hearty content of this giant, Japanese pizza.
While it's not a traditional okonomiyaki, the food was absolutely delicious with big portions. We also tried their gyoza which were equally as impressive.
The shop seems to be run by one person and she was very friendly and accommodating especially to English speakers. Visit this spot if you're in town for a more intimate dining experience.
Pros: Excellent portions and food, Intimate setting
Cons: Wait can be long when busy
