Vegan option in Short North - Edit
I ordered the Buddha Bowl with tofu and a side of fries with rosemary aioli. Both were delicious. Staff were friendly and menu had options to be made vegan.

Mostly Vegetarian - Edit
The cafe has a cute aesthetic and the patio is great in nice weather. However, the menu is mostly geared towards vegetarians, with few vegan choices or substitutions other than salads. Please bring back vegan cheese options for the pizzas!

Many Vegan Options - Edit
It’s hard to choose with so many great vegan options. I got the Village Salad vegan and had extra their veggie patty to put on top which was delicious.

Yummy Vegan/Vegetarian Options! - Edit
Although not a strictly vegan menu, there were great options for vegans/vegetarians. We shared a pizza and a black bean burger w vegan cheese.

A Columbus must - Edit
The Northstar Cafe is great! With many locations in the Columbus area, and a bunch of vegan and vegetarian options to choose from, you cannot go wrong!
Read moreMy favorite is the Northstar Burger made vegan with the simple salad. The bread is different if you order it vegan and it's friggin' good! Also, their salad is probably the best I've ever had. They're a little pricey, but totally worth it.

Great recommendation - Edit
Staying in downtown Columbus. From the hotel, to all the people I met along High Street; they all recommended Northstar Cafe. Some without knowing I was looking for vegan options. They were all right!
Read moreGreat patio, nice interior, friendly service and great food. I enjoyed the black bean burger and today's special soup- cauliflower with cashew cream. Accompanied with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Would definitely go back!

wholesome food - Edit
Northstar is a must-visit Columbus restaurant. There are at least 3 locations and each has a slightly different menu. I've eaten a variety of things: the veggie burger, thai curry burrito, pizza, square meal, and the carrot juice. All were great. The veggie burger is probably one of the most popular items. The ingredients are very wholesome and healthy. No negatives, really, except that it can be crowded. Northstar has also given free veggie burgers on Earth day, so keep that in mind!

You should try the beet burger - Edit
This place is not really that vegan friendly. They only have a couple of dishes and you must specify that you wan them in vegan form. North Star is known for its beet burger, which is very good, but does get old after awhile.
Read moreThe beet burger is made from rice and beets and is served on focaccia bread (if you ask for it "vegan") with mustard, onions, and greens. It comes with a side salad, but you can ask for another side dish if you wish.
Recently they added a sandwich that you can get with baked tofu instead of animal and cold grain pilaf with nuts & fruit side dish to the menu and it is delicious! I am not sure if this is a permanent menu item or not, but I hope it stays.
The home made ginger ale is really good and they now offer Boylan's natural soda fountain drinks.
There is a problem with consistency sometimes. One day you get an excellent meal and the next time that same meal is pathetic in portion and flavor.
This is a place I like to visit once in awhile, but not frequently because there is not enough variety. However, it is worth a try. I would give it at least two chances before you make your own judgment.
Pros: Good veggie burger, Mostly organic
Cons: Few vegan choices, Expensive

Great food - Edit
I have enjoyed my food every time I have visited. I was disappointed to find out their beet burger is served on non-vegan bread when the first time I was told it was vegan.

If you ask for it "vegan" they put it on focaccia bread instead of the egg washed bun.

A nice neighborhood place - Edit
Good food, restaurant can get noisy when crowded. Best to go not at peak hours. There are a number of vegetarian/ vegan options- and the menu is well labeled as to which items can be made vegan. I like that they easily substitute a nicely cooked tofu in the burritos, and that the folks at the counter who take your order are well informed about the menu and what it means to make a dish vegetarian or vegan! Entrees are now in the price range of $9-11.

Fantatsic Brunch! - Edit
This bright, open little cafe offers a really fantastic brunch in the very hip short north area. There are tables outside if you dine here in nice weather. You order at the counter and food is brought to you after you order. It always seems to be crowded so plan for a wait. It is well worth it though. The food is standard breakfast fare exactly as it should be! I had the mushroom and cheese omlette and adored it.

Top quality cafe - Edit
Not only do they use local, organic ingredients, but the food is top-notch. Many items can be made vegan, and they also have an excellent juice selection (as well as a killer ginger ale). The Northstar burger was incredible (albeit a little difficult to eat with a substituted non-dairy mammoth Focaccia bun), and all the ingredients tasted so fresh and delectable. There's something for everyone here, the location is awesome, and they have a wonderful magazine selection to peruse while waiting for your food. My partner and I went twice in one weekend, and each time the restaurant was very busy. Also, tips are built into the cost, a European aspect that we found very pleasing.

Great Place- Popular and Crowded. - Edit
The food here is excellent, the menu is small and the drink menu is limited too. The menu has just enough on it for us, but I wish they had a larger drink menu. (such as, more than one beer to choose from). We have eaten at both of their locations many times and have never had a meal that wasn't delicious. But... There are so many others that feel the same, therefore, unless you get here early or on a slower day, you will have to wait a bit to get your food, and although the place isn't small, finding a seat is hard to come by -and the battle begins! They should also have more salad dressings to choose from... hope you like -vinaigrette- because that's what your gonna' get. (It is a better visit in the warmer weather than in the cooler because both locations have outdoor seating and that helps relieve some of the seating stress).

After re-reading this post I see how we should have made it clear that "1 type" of beer is the "draft style" they have lots of others by the bottle! We would also like to add how I much we appreciate the free Veggie Burgers they give out for earth day... Yes, you read right, FREE! (Sorry, If you missed it this year.)

Excellent - Edit
This is the all around perfect restaurant: it's the best place in Columbus to meet with anyone, Northstar really caters to "diet diversity". Every person I have brought here [particularly out-of-towners] are blown away by the quality of the food. The service is outstanding: always friendly - not just courteous, but friendly...assuming this is a reflection on the owners taking care of it's employees!
Read moreAn excellent dining experience. Try it, you & your guests, will love it.
Pros: fresh ingredients, menu variety and consistency, friendly staff
Cons: Have to stand and wait for beverage., Does not have vegan brunch option
