Do better, Nido’s. Or at least train your manager not to act like a jerk to paying customers

Really disappointed with my experience at Nido’s Backyard. I coordinate a group outing after a Friday night meeting, so I called ahead to make sure our group of 10 could be accommodated and pay separately. A woman on the phone told me that while separate checks weren’t allowed for a table, we could order at the bar, and that no reservation would be needed. That sounded like a good solution. I called ahead specifically to avoid confusion or problems, and still ended up dealing with exactly that.

We showed up today, Friday, June 27, around 8:15 PM, only to find out that the bar menu is completely different and so limited you can’t even order tacos… at a Mexican restaurant. Seriously?

I tried to talk to the manager about the miscommunication and see if anything could be done, but he was arrogant, unhelpful, and completely dismissive. Honestly, he shouldn’t be in any customer-facing role. It was clear they didn’t care about our group or our business. We were a group of 10 ready to eat and spend money, but I guess they didn’t need our business on a busy night.

It was honestly embarrassing to have brought a group there and end up with this kind of mess. I put in the effort to plan, and it just blew up in my face. It’s not just about the menu, it’s about how we were treated. I expect better from any place that is in the service and hospitality business.

He could have tried to offer any kind of solution, but instead he chose to be a [censored]. Really disappointing. I do not recommend this place and will not be coming back.

Do better, Nido’s. Or at least train your manager not to act like a jerk to paying customers.

Great space, lots of vegan options!

I came here for a birthday party with veg/ non-veg folks and it was a hit! I loved the outdoor seating with heat lamps, and got a great cocktail. There are plenty of vegan options to choose from. My meal was simple but satisfying.

Limited but doable vegan

It's possible to have a decent vegan meal here, but we would have liked to have had more choices. Still, it was fine. The place was huge and busy - we were outdoors. We were advised to park in the secured parking lot, at a cost of $5, rather than on the sketchy street.

Needs more vegan options

We like this place however and return here frequently with non vegan friends but we do wish there were more vegan options with vegan cheese and vegan protein, not just ingredients removed.
The veganized dishes end up being pretty much the same thing - grilled veggies, guacamole, chips, rice and beans, no vegan cheese or protein options. In addition, there is a very good appetizer (potato flautas).
Dishes are very tasty but wish there was more variety.
The margarita is made with honey and there is no agave syrup so we requested simple syrup.

Pros: Atmosphere , Huge patio, Drinks

Cons: Lack of variety in vegan protein options

They have 2 vegan options and sadly they just aren't very good

We ordered the Quesadilla de Flor de Calabaza as well as the Panucho - the two options that can be made vegan. They were both dry / bland. Had a similar experience at the old Nido Kitchen as well. Great cocktails and atmosphere though.

Very adaptable menu!

I love this restaurant. They have a menu with a lot of variety, especially if you ask the servers! There are many options that can easily be made vegan by removing cheese and it still tastes amazing. They taught me that a quesadilla isn’t about the cheese it’s about the seasonings and herbs used. Plus they switch up their vegetables often l. The drinks are great and there are beautiful plants every where!

Pros: Flavor, Helpful Staff, Easy to read menu

Cons: Peanuts in potatoes
