The bad: everything else. Everything. Else. The food was overly salty and didn’t taste good. We ordered a lot of dishes to taste and share. Not one was something we’d return for. The very first dish had a hair baked into it. Had to push for them to do something about it. The server didn’t seem to know the menu. Claimed the sauce was honey mustard. It wasn’t and I had to get it verified that it didn’t actually have honey. Our starter was one of the last things to come out and was cold. Most items that were supposed to be hot came out cold in the middle or just cold period. Our dessert was given to another table.
One of the dishes we ordered was the lions main mushroom sliders. What came out was a partially breaded chunks of mushy cauliflower sliders. Never told about a substitution and it was gross.

The new location is great, right at the main entrance to Jack London square, near the ferry terminal. Great vibe and the best vegan soul food. I missed this place while they were in between locations! So grateful and FULL now that they’re back!

I ordered the Combo tasting platter - didn’t disappoint, those collard greens had NO chance! Highly recommend the yams and BBQ tofu as well! I love mixing the sweet and savory flavors. Great presentation and portions. Also ordered the cornbread, which due to sizing I had to get it for takeaway!
While they are in their soft opening, service may be slightly delayed or confusing if you don’t know it’s cashless - like me when I was like, “where do I order?” Bring kindness and enjoy!

I got the Country Steak Plate which came with collard greens and mashed potatoes. Delicious mashed potatoes!! And I wolfed down the collard greens.
The place was great, too. Great music and amazing sound.

I’ve been to their other restaurant before. This one is way cooler. The ordering system is go to a table and order off a QR code. Staff was really friendly. The BBF burger and fries were good and messy😜 Had Beignets for appetizers.

The food was so full of flavor and so absolutely delicious! The restaurant just opened in July 2025, so they are still getting up and going but we will definitely be back! The Cajun Mac and cheese may have been the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had!
