Worth the money

We had the pre-set vegan menu for 37€ per person and it was simply amazing. The taste combinations were creative as were the presentations. A perfect place to go for "upscale" vegan dining.

Pros: vegan options clearly labelled , vegan dessert options

Cons: not fully vegan

Big portions! Vegan options standardly available

We've been to Mykene a couple of times over the years.
It's a traditional restaurant, a big place, but with plenty of room.
Vegan options standardly available and clearly indicated on menu.
Dishes are really big portions and I could hardly finish even my appetizer. Some traditional dishes, but also some original combinations and out of the box dishes.
Nice to have vegan desserts available.
Menu changes every now and then, so always new things to try.
It is not a vegan place, so the smell and sight of people eating animal's ribs next to you can be confrontational ...

Traditional restaurant with different vegan (and raw) dishes on the menu

I would describe Mykene as the closest possible to a traditional nice restaurant. Well, in fact, it's a traditional restaurant with all kinds of non-vegan choices! Now they also do have different vegan dishes on the menu and have even a dedicated raw vegan menu.

Their concept looks really like providing a platform, where everybody can meet and enjoy their own choices and preferences, in which they succeed very well.

The waiters, especially the more skilled ones are very attentive ones when they know you are vegan, they will very carefully explain what they bring you and also provide some nice inside on how it is prepared.

They have several vegan and raw dishes, as starter, main and dessert.

What is nice it that the menu regularly changes as well, and their chefs don't hesitate to learn about the subject and try to come out regularly with new dishes, which is great.

As a vegan it might be annoying to see still the animal torture around you.
Now for a dinner with colleagues or friends, not at all into vegan, it might be a neutral invite and having them giving it a try.

Nice place for dinner where you can invite everyone with you, since you'll find any kind of food style.

Pros: Traditional restaurant, Vegan and raw vegan menu, Attentive waiter

Cons: Can be expensive, Still animal torture around you

OK restaurant, conveniently big menu for Leuven

Mykene has a lot of options, which is nice. Sometimes it takes a long time before you get served, though, and it is quite expensive. As for the menu, I really like the vegan sushi burger. My husband (a vegetarian) also likes the 'bordje uit de oven' (oven dish). On the other hand, the vegan fish is really quite boring, we wouldn't take that one again. Overall, the restaurant is quite nice, especially if you're having dinner with colleagues, friends or family who want to eat meat, because the menu is so big. There's also a nice terrace at the back.

Pros: Many vegan and vegetarian options, Nice terrace

Cons: Waiting time can be long, Not all options are interesting, Quite expensive

Good place for mixed company

As a vegan, this is the best place in the city to go with a omnivore group. They won't complain about "weird vegan food" and you'll have an awesome vegan meal.
There's a good choice of vegan options on the menu, also labeled vegan. I have not been disappointed with the options I've ordered here. The portions are also pretty big. Recently they also added some vegan dessert options to the menu. The aquafaba chocolate mousse is delicious.

Pros: Big portions, helpfull staff

Cons: More expensive but also fancier place

A nice surprise

A nice restaurant in a beautiful building ... and they have both "ovo lacto" AND "vegan" dishes on the menu. Like, several of each! (in Belgium, we call this a miracle) I had the filled potato and I really enjoyed it.

One regret: my partner had the cheap promo menu, but they could not make it vegan: so my main was more expensive than his whole menu... soooo unfair!? I wish they had at least given me a glass of "bubbles" like he received, but they didnt :(

Pros: vegan options, nice beers, nice location

Cons: can be pricey , unfair menu policy
