Serves meat, vegan options available. Cafe located a few minutes walk from Togetsukyo bridge, against the backdrop of Mt. Arashiyama, around the corner from Arashiyama Hankyu station. Offers healthy Japanese lunch set plates and sweets, as well as a dinner menu. There is a local vegetable-based lunch set as well as a curry, a pasta and a taco rice set, all of which are vegan. The dinner set allows you to choose a main dish from a list, on which there are vegan options. The miso soup is vegan. There is an English menu, and the staff understand what "vegan ryori" is. From 3-5pm it's cafe only. Las orders 7pm. Open Mon 10:30am-6:00pm, Wed-Sun 10:30am-6:00pm.

Awesome food! - Edit
Everything is vegan except for the Lunch B set! We got the lunch A set, the tomato pasta and the taco rice bowl. All of it was so so bloody good!! 2 of us shared the 3 meals and we left full, pricing was reasonable too! We got 3 drinks all up and a chocolate cake that was vegan and it only cost us ¥5050, definitely give it a try if you’re in the area :)

Healthy & filling! - Edit
Ordered the lunch set and was happy with the serving size. Lots of delicious vegetables, good miso soup, and while I didn’t get a chance to try them, the desserts looked great too!

Can't fault these guys on anything - Edit
Ordered: Vegetarian lunch set (it says vegetarian but is vegan too). Got some tempura fu (traditional Japanese wheat gluten) with a sauce that tasted similar to green curry, vegan miso soup, brown rice, salad, some pickled veg, and a shot of citrus tasting juice that may have been yuzu with a bit of lime.
Read moreThis place is in a quieter area of Arashiyama that’s a little out of the way but is close to Monkey Park. Is also close to the Hankyu Arashiyama station. The menu is in broken English, but there’s enough information to get by on.
This place serves meat but the menu is mostly vegan. As such, there are lots of vegan options here! One is the vegetarian lunch set. The others are taco rice, tomato and veg pasta, and veg curry. I ordered the veg lunch set. It was DELICIOUS and quite generous in serving size too. With the lunch set, you can choose whether you want white or brown rice.
There is also a good selection of vegan desserts too! I personally didn’t order any (I was the only one in my group who wanted savoury food) but my non-veg family ordered some. My mum and cousin ordered the apple cake, while my aunty ordered the matcha tofu cake. All loved it! My cousin also ordered an ice coffee with regular milk (it comes with soy milk by default, you have to ask to change to regular milk) which she enjoyed.
The food took a while to come since there was only two people working, but wasn’t too long. No more than 10 minutes.
FYI: If my interpretation of their website is correct, they also hold events like miso-making workshops, plant workshops, social events, and lectures on how to get the best out of your running work-out. Not too sure about this though!
As an extra pro: the whole vibe of the place is very health/nutrition focused, so you can be sure that you're getting a healthy meal that will energise and fill you up! :)
Pros: Good selection of vegan meals and desserts, Generous serving size, Freshly cooked (except miso soup and rice)

Delicious cakes - Edit
We went here after a trip to the bamboo forest and it was lovely!! The cheesecake was delicious and so were the soy milk cafe cafe au lait. The chickpea curry was delicious too. Unfortunately we were there too early for dinner but still would recommend for an afternoon snack/ something sweet.

kind service + delicious vegan options = perfect meal :-) - Edit
I made my family come here after seeing that it had good vegan options via the happy cow app. It was easy to find and just a short walk from the bridge. The service was extremely kind (even by Japanese standards), and the food was delicious. I had the dinner combo (~¥1500 / ~15 USD) w/ the fried tofu as the main entree. It came with rice, miso soup, three small vegetable sides, tea/coffee, and dessert (I had the vegan pound cake w/ vegan vanilla ice cream). My family ordered (a la carte) the tofu taco rice, the udon noodles w/ kimchi, and the udon noodles w/ kimchi and beef. Everything was so yummy! We waited a bit for our food but it was definitely worth it (and the sweet staff more than made up for it!) Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Pleasant Cafe, Lots of Vegan Options - Edit
My husband and I came here for lunch while in Arashiyama and really enjoyed it! The staff were friendly and were kind enough to let me borrow a cable to charge my camera while there. Some items on the menu include chicken, and as the kitchen is open into the seating area you might be uncomfortable with the smell of cooking meat. The vegan items we tried though were really nice, including the taco rice, curry, pound cake, and matcha cake. I'd go back if I was in the area again.
