Nice place, okay food - Edit
Came here after 3pm so just coffee and cake. Got the cockolate cake, it wasn't bad but not the best one I had. Kinda a small piece for 550yen.

Wasn’t for me - Edit
When visiting the bamboo forest looking for a vegan option near by. Meals looked like they would be tasty and reviews were promising. Just not my cup of tea. Was too healthy and lacking flavours for me. Partner didn’t enjoy his meal also. Service was great though. Ordered a cake after which was ok. Probably the highlight but won’t be returning.

Cons: Expensive, Not my cup of tea flavour wise

Convenient vegan place in Arashiyama - Edit
The main plus point for me for this cafe is that it was kind of tucked away from the Main Street - Which meant it wasn’t crowded and we got a table straight away. We just got dessert. The banana pound cake was delicious, my husband said the matcha one was good, but I didn’t really like the cheese cake. Tasted like nothing. The staff were almost awkward. They wanted to speak to us in English (which is a normal judgement of my white person face lol) but my husband is Japanese and only really speaks Japanese. Just made it confusing and awkward. Also, we had to wait for a long time (30+ mins) while they prepared the table next to us full lunch plates before we got ours. I understand they wanted to get the orders out in order, but ours was literally just cake on a plate.

Delicious !!!!! - Edit
I wasn’t expecting that the place had so many choices. It is a casual place with wooden tables giving a “natural” environment to be in. The staffs were nice and could understand and speak English.
Read moreAs for the food, first of all, the visual was pretty well composed. Second of all, most of the food seemed to be organic. Finally, it was delicious.
I will definitely go there again if I am around and need to spend a nice and restful time as a vegan.

Nice cafe - Edit
Went to Musubi when Arashiyama-Kan was inexplicably closed. Very pleasant cafe with a clearly labeled vegetarian lunch plate. Seems like the lunch plate changes regularly but there is always a vegetarian option.

Great taste - Edit
The place is relexing, quiet and tasty. But, a-bit pricy. There is 3 vegetarian dishes for lunch, all very good. Comes with great misu soup, delicious salad, small smoothie and tea.

Had the delicious (and beautiful) set lunch - the vegan miso soup was full of savory flavor. The tart pickled vegetables were a nice compliment to the slightly sweet but fluffy fried gluten.

Excellent Food & Desserts - Edit
This is a convenient location to eat if visiting the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. It's a short walk from the JR station. We arrived during tea time, which was at first disappointing because we were very hungry and looking forward to the lunch options. Thankfully, they still serve a limited number of dishes during tea time (a veggie spaghetti dish, a chickpea curry dish, and there was a third option I don't remember). We ordered the spaghetti and the curry and both were excellent. We followed lunch up with chocolate cake, the ice cream parfait, and a matcha smoothie. They also had many other vegan dessert options.

Hojicha latte! - Edit
Small café with non-vegan & vegan lunch set which consists of pickled sides, miso soup, shot of fruit smoothie, rice (mixed/brown) with soy meat and salad for 1350 ¥. Offers variety of vegan deserts and coffee/matcha/hojicha latte (with soy milk) which is heavenly ❤

We had a great dinner which came in a set with tea, appetizers, miso soup and small desert for 1500円. Everything was really yummy and I'd love to go back and try out different dishes next time.

We had a lunch option which was really nice (it’s called vegetarian btw). The food was tasty and enough portion for 1400 yen. We didn’t try their cakes, but they all looked very tasty from the pictures. If you like tea lattes get the hojicha soy milk latte!!!! It’s heavenly.

no thanks - Edit
had the breakfast since it was the only thing available. the onigiri was extremely salty and the umeboshi was an unpleasant surprise (that’s just personal taste though). the miso soup tasted horrible. the matcha cake had a strange texture and the ice cream was icy. the only good thing was the anko.

Friendly little cafe - Edit
The staff were really helpful even though there was a slight language barrier, he showed us the vegan option for the lunch set. The tofu was so delicious, and we loved the little additions like the smoothie included. We tried two of the cakes which were both tasty.

I had the vegan meal set and it was great. The restaurant is directly by the water, but a little off the tourist path. The waitress was nice and very helpful. The food was great. I can't recommend this restaurant enough.

great lunch spot - Edit
We had lunch and there were 4 vegan options! We tried two of the set lunches, the chickpea tomato curry and the tomato spaghetti. Each dish came with soup, salad, and a small smoothie. The salad was delicious, as was the curry. We liked the spaghetti, too. All in all, a great lunch in Arashiyama.

Rall nice vegan food - Edit
While there wasn't a big selection of vegan dishes, as tourists we only needed one dish each-- which they certainly did have. And that dish was very delicious!
Read moreThey offered a vegetarian and a vegan meal. We, of course, had the vegan option, which was tofu with rice and tempura on the side. It also came with miso soup and some small pickled vegetables.
In addition to the great food, the restaurants had a particularly nice atmosphere, with water cascading down one of the outside windows.
If I was in this area again, I would eat here again.
Oh and by the way, theres a shop that sells some nice pickled cucumbers on a stick ... on the way from the train station to this restaurant. So keep your eye out for that vendor.
Pros: Great atmosphere and tasty food

One of the best cafes in Japan - Edit
We ordered 2 different vegan sets for dinner and both of our sets were just amazing. Everything from the main dish to the side dishes was seasoned really well and tasted great! Everything was so fresh. The set also comes with tea and a mini dessert. The miso soup was the best miso soup I've had in Japan! Incredibly flavorful and comforting.
Read moreWe ordered a chocolate cake on top of that and split it between us. The staff was attentive enough to split the cake without us asking and put it on two separate plates for us. The cake was to die for and so was the small slice of pound cake! So moist and fluffy!
We were there kind of late in the evening and were surprised there was nobody in there despite the food being so incredible! Please give this place a try if you visit Kyoto!
Easy 5-star if happycow let me rate them that!

Read moreFood was very tasty (celery smoothie, main dish, veggies miso soup), and the prices (1250 a set lunch?) were very reasonable considering the location of these mountains is a bit remote and touristy!
