Mildreds, established since 1988 and reported vegan in May 2021, operates several restaurants in London. Its changing menu offers British classics as well fusion meals, with example dishes like mushroom pie, Indian curry, lentil burger, tortilla chips and gucamole, burger with fries, waffles, vegan brownie with ice cream. This branch is small and gets crowded at rush hour so expect a wait. Cashless. Open Mon-Sat 09:00-23:00, Sun 09:00-22:00.

From how we were met, shown to our table, through to finishing and leaving the whole time was a great occasion. The atmosphere, the friendly, helpful service, food and drinks were all five star quality. Every dish was full of different flavours, the sticky rum pudding was the best vegan dessert I've tasted yet. I certainly recommend booking as it seems very popular and can easily see why.

Read moreThe pear rosemary daiquiri was lovely. I chose the braised cabbage with chili oil (medium-spicy) “small plate” and the beetroot railway cutlet burger, which comes with several toppings and good fries. There was an interesting dry accompaniment (spicy, crumbly), which I presume was to sprinkle onto the fries. The cabbage was very good.
I ordered the sticky toffee pudding (spiced date cake) to take away but ate the accompanying salted caramel ice cream with pineapple compote at the restaurant - delicious!
I’ll look forward to trying more of the menu.
Tables are fairly close together, and the sound level when the restaurant is full at lunchtime is high.
Seating is available in two rooms upstairs.
Note that the unisex toilets are on the top floor (two flights up).

The oyster mushroom skewers are one of the best things I've ever had! The cocktails were divine, not too sweet and very smooth. It was also my first time having vegan caviar! And the staff were very kind even as the night got busier.

I’ve been wanting to visit Mildreds for a long time. Once I visited London, it was the first place I’ve been.

Umami in tomato tartar is beyond! I really like the combination with mustard mayo and crispy capari.
Beetroot carpaccio seems like a basic dish but the flavors bring it to the top level.
I really like mushroom skewer too. Spices are very balanced.
Also service is really good. They are very nice and interested.
I can’t wait to visit Mildred again and try some more!

Bowing deeply to this 36 yo Iconic restaurant - Edit
I stayed overnight in London before heading back to the states to go to Mildreds. What a delight to be able see the pop-up Madam Mildreds on Poland Street, dedicated to the raucous 80s, my glory days. I came before the dinner rush and was treated like a beloved auntie…With the Communards playing I so enjoyed the rainbow pickles, Mildred’s beer— yum with Korean fried Chickn burger, cup of tea and rum coconut sticky toffee cake! Really was honored to be in this trailblazing house. May the next 37 years be as fabulous! This 60+ year old vegan, who was there back in the day, thanks you!

La catena Mildred’s offre ristoranti vegani per tutta londra e non solo. Hanno un ampio menu con varie proposte, di base piatti non molto abbondanti e costo abbastanza elevato. Abbiamo provato un antipasto di verdure ( dire misero sarebbe fargli un complimento), un’insalata di carciofi romani con salsa allo yogurt e bacon in aggiunta, zuppa di noodle shiratake e il tiramisù. Menzione speciale al tiramisù al cioccolato bianco, davvero ottimo, piatto assolutamente da ordinare se si prova mildred’s per la prima volta.

A great brunch spot for our recent weekend in London, the Charmoulah brunch is really tasty and so filling I couldn't finish it all! A really good combo of flavours and good value for money.
Read moreMy friend (non-vegan) had the Biscoff pancakes, her review was that they were great but a little on the stodgy side. They did look quite a bit smaller and less fluffy than the ones I have had at other branches previously, but still really good!

Be warned!! Our reservation to the Sodo location was rescheduled to Madame Mildred’s, no problem I understand that happens. However I expected the same quality and class as all other Mildred’s locations, absolutely not the case!
Read moreMadame Mildred’s location is covered in sexually suggestive drawings of partially nude white women. The slogans on the drawings are vulgar and so offensive. They are on every wall and window.
I’m fine with nudity, bodies should be celebrated(although a warning when our reservation was canceled would have been appreciated) as we had a youth with us, what I’m not okay with is promoting archaic ideas of beauty and sexuality. I’m beyond disappointed that Mildred’s would promote this sexist, racist, heteronormative stereotype. If you want to do a nude theme then you should embrace all body sizes, colors and genders.
Be warned this is absolutely not a family friendly restaurant. I was blind sided by this. When I told a staff member this they said “you were told it’s 80’s themed”. I’m sorry but I didn’t realize that the part of the 80’s Mildred’s wanted to celebrate was blatant sexism, and the idea that only skinny white women can be, and should be, seen as sexual objects. I’ve been coming to Mildred’s for over 10 years, but will have to re-think if I will ever return to any of their locations. I don’t want to give my money to a business that chooses to promote these backward ideals, women have fought so hard for the progress we have made and I refuse to support those that want to drag us back.

We had a great range of delicious starters, mains and desserts all beautifully crafted. The restaurant experience is however substantially degraded by the noise level with even quiet attempts at conversations reverberating against the bare walls and floors, further exacerbated by the unnecessary background music. We were at a table for 6 and it was pretty difficult to hear anyone clearly except the person next or opposite to you

We just arrived in London and in our jetlagged state, we were thrilled to find Mildreds! We ordered the kim chi gyoza and the kiri hodi. We were delighted with both selections. We indulged a bit and ordered the tiramisu for dessert. It was heavenly! We are in London for 10 days and we know we will be back!

I did a good choice for my last dinner before coming back Italy. Staff was very friendly and offer best service possible. Dishes were well presented and food was superlative. Our choices: Arancini, Kim Chi Gyoza, Salt and Pepper Tofu Bokkeumbap and Shiitake tempeh dan dan noodles. We finished our meal with delicious desserts: White Chocolate Tiramisu and Chocolate Ganache layer cake (my favourite!). Add this restaurant on your wish list!
