Great local cuisine - veganmade - Edit
I did browse through the reviews before coming and chose to avoid the burgers and the schnitzel. Instead I had the herring-free salad and my husband had the kebab bowl. These were really good! Especially the potatoes and salad (which had a delicious garlic oil on). I wasn’t wow’ed by the eggplant-herring, but I liked trying something that had local cuisine vibes. The dish also included a tofu scramble that I think is a vegan tvorog remake - a nice touch.
Read moreOverall, we really enjoyed our meals. While I wouldn’t say that the dishes are super cheap, people are not lying when saying the dishes are large! We could hardly finish them!
But we still decided to try out the cakes. We liked two of them very much, but the cookie dough cake was too sweet and dry.
Atmosphere is really nice. Not too loud music, nice staff, and food arrived within 10 minutes.
They also have some nice local beers and ciders that were really good.

Nice menu - Edit
They had a lot of very nice options for brunch.
Read moreThe savoury waffle was very nice even though the waffle itself was not so fluffy.
Crepes with caramel and banana were also good.
The coffees were not the best quality in my opinion.
Good prices.

Big portions at low prices - Edit
We visited here in September 2025 and found it very reasonably priced. We tried the Soy Schnitzel and the Furious Grill Burger. The schnitzel was massive but a little bit dense so I ended up leaving about half of it. The accompanying potatoes and salad were lovely though. The burger was nice but didn't really go with the bun it was served in. We had a piece of chocolate cake to take away and that was really tasty. We had hoped to try some of the local draft lager but they had run out so that was a shame. If you're looking for big portions at low prices this is a good choice.

Cheap! But… - Edit
It’s cheap and you can get a big portion of food! And that’s probably the only real advantage of this place. It’s pretty chaotic. I was there at lunchtime. There’s no menu, just daily specials. That wouldn’t be a problem if they weren’t written on a board in very messy handwriting. I had to ask the staff about everything, and they weren’t exactly helpful…
Read moreOk, but the most important part: the food. I felt like I had traveled 20 years back in time. It reminded me of the early days of my veganism, when people had no idea how to cook vegan food. It wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t restaurant-level either.
If your expectations aren’t high, it is ok. You’ll leave full, but not fulfilled.

Worst meal in Riga - Edit
Waited almost 40 minutes for my food even though the restaurant wasn’t even half full.
Read moreHad the soy schnitzel and was so disappointed. It was battered but the batter was not cooked through so it was doughy and gross. Also there was just way too much batter. The schnitzel itself was not 1 piece but instead seemed like a bunch of smaller pieces put together around the batter and cooked. It did not hold its shape while eating. Overall not good flavour but the main component being so gross was a huge disappointment. Worst meal I had in Riga

Great for local food - Edit
I think one should try their veganised local foods.
Read moreMy husband really enjoyed their traditional soup and potato salad.
They are also very accommodating for people with allergies, there's a great selection of alcoholic cocktails, wines and other alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. The service is very pleasant.
However, the burgers were so so. The buns were stuffy, they sprinkled some nootch on top that just falls off and doesn't add anything to the flavour, my husband's kimchi tofu burger was flavourless (according to him). We'd go back there, but not for the burgers.
Pros: Great service, Great Veganised Latvian cuisine, A large selection of desserts

A lovely place - Edit
I think I arrived at a bad time, when their lunch time was ending. Apparently I had their last sandwich which was filled with soy meat and vegetables. It was okay, nothing special but not bad either. I also had a piece of cookie dough cake, very tasty! The chocolate part was a bit heavy to my taste, but otherwise the flavors were good. Also, the atmosphere was very nice.

I guess this is a great vegan restaurant, but for me the food was way too heavy and oily. But Heavy or not, the Latvian cheesecake was excellent!

Lecker frisch zubereitete Gerichte - Edit

Amazing vegan food - Edit
Awesome place! Pretty sure their lunch options change every day, but they also sell various options of sandwiches, cakes, pastries, desserts, etc. The cakes me and my mom tried for dessert were so delicious! Food came out very quickly, staff was kind and the atmosphere itself was really nice and enjoyable. There’s seating both inside and outside for sunny days. I will definitely return here 😊💗

Vegan Latvian food - hit or miss - Edit
During our trip through the Baltics, it became clear that Riga would be the most difficult city to find vegan food in, especially food that mimics some of the local cuisine. I’m not sure why this is, but I would really recommend eating outside of the old town for this reason.
Read moreSeveral online forums said that Mazā Terapija was one of the few places to experience a vegan twist on Latvian food. This is true for a few dishes, with the rest of the menu comprising standard vegan cafe fare.
For starters, the carrot salmon was amazing! As someone who used to love seafood, I am not sure how they were able to so closely mimic the taste. Truly one of the best things I ate on this trip.
However, we were less impressed by the main dishes. The schnitzel was a bit too heavy (way too much cheese), and the meat substitute wasn’t my favorite. I could only eat a few bites, and I mostly just ate the potatoes and side salad (which were delicious). For the flagship dish, I was hoping for more. My boyfriend said his tofu burger was just okay and not all that crispy. I hope we just ordered wrong, and I would definitely come back to try other dishes especially for the low price and generous portion sizes.
