Oktoberfest at Max Pett - Edit
Oktoberfest is a Bavarian festival (the locals call it “die Wiesen”) that commemorates Crown Prince Ludwig’s marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen in 1810. Since then, the festival is now longer and also starts in September to allow for better weather. Check the calendar if you’re going to visit anytime in September or October, as you might be able to catch some great seasonal food during that time.
Read moreNow, Oktoberfest, other than beer and most of the pretzels (always ask and bring your own mustard), is not a very vegan event. There is a lot of horse riding, horse and carriages, roasted rotisserie chickens, fish on a roll and sausage/wurst dishes abound. The Wisen has tents that do actually have a few clearly marked vegan options (mostly fried or mock currywurst), but if you want really awesome seasonal vegan food, take a taxi or train to Max Pett.
The menu is generally always in German. I’m not a big mock meat fan, but I wanted to highlight (and translate) this seasonal Bavarian dish that I think is special.
ZwiebelRostbraten Austrian Roast “Beef” and fried onions, and it’s in a delicious gravy (which has bier in the name, but does not taste like beer*)
"Kartoffelknoedel" potato dumplings.
The kraut is purple cabbage and apple.
The salad is there green salad with an amazing mustardy dressing that I love. (Getting a big salad there is always great). See the photo attached so you can see this dinner option in German, as it will appear on the menu you see at Max Pett and online.
*Note that most cooked dishes using wine or beer the heat cooks off the alcohol. I don’t drink or promote drinking and I love that Max Pett does not either. It makes it even more special during Oktoberfest where there can be a lot of excessive drinking observed. From their website;
“It is important for us to mention that Max von Pettenkofer was chairman of the "Association Against the Injury of Intellectual Beverages". This is one of the reasons why we do not have any alcoholic drinks. It is our philosophy not to offer alcohol to our vegan foods.”
Anyway, remember the great salad dressing. This is important to remember their great salad, because, Max Pett has a vegan snickers cake and vegan snickers ice cream that is EPIC ANYTIME of the year! (Enjoy their list of vegan ice creams!)

Great food, nice location, and friendly service. - Edit
Food was fantastic and did not taste vegan. My girlfriend and I ate schnitzel. The portions were large. The waitress was friendly and spoke also English. The food was pricey but you get what you pay for (high quality and large portions). The location is in a nice area that has a beautiful patio.

Amazing!!! 🤤 - Edit
Hard to get a seat without a reservation. But the food is fantastic !!! Go and try it - you will love it! 😉 For two people (1 appetizer, 2 main dishes, 1 dessert 2 drinks) you should count on around 50 €. But it's worth it!

The best vegan food I’ve ever had - Edit
Amazing food that doesn’t taste vegan at all! They had the most amazing ravioli and Tiramisu I’ve had in years. Also the waiters are very nice and understand/ speak English fluently. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Munich looking for an easy meal

Expensive but great - Edit
Great Käsespätzle and good Schnitzel. The cakes and milkshakes are good, too. There is no alcohol in this restaurant. Great taste but sadly very expensive.

Yummy Bowl & Nice Vibe - Edit
I had the Mediterranean Bowl as main; and a chai latte.
Read moreThe bowl was yummy and rather generous; but the ratatouille too sour for my taste.
I agree that prices are above average in Munich; but portions were decent, so no big complain about that.
However, if the food is not organic, then perhaps it's a bit overpriced after all.
The service was friendly and the atmosphere was also very pleasant, specially because there was a nice weather.
If I'm ever in Munich again, I'll surely consider going again.
Pros: yummy, nice vibe, friendly staff

Une cuisine inventive. - Edit

Really nice recipes, but limited selection - Edit
We really enjoyed our time here and the food was good. I do have to say though, it would have been much nicer to have a wider selection with more vegetable-focused options. Many of their options were limited, or just “copies” of non-vegan food (such as “cheese” dip and bread, Spargel and “cheese” or “wiener schnitzel”). Personally, vegetable-heavy and flavorful recipes are much more appetizing and noteworthy for a vegan restaurant.

Awesome vegan dining. I had oven cheese as starter and the "Wiener Schnitzel" as main course. Both were delicious and a pleasure to eat.

Make a Reservation! - Edit
This place was delicious, very cool and unique menu. We started with the soup of the day, had the eggplant starter (super good) and had the Ravioli (amazing!). We ended with their house made ice cream. The place was nice and the staff very friendly, but make a reservation because the place fills up!
