Amazing Vegan Bao Burger - Edit
It was an amazing Bao Burger. All is vegan, tastes very good and you van try ALL OF THEM! After the burger you have to try the vegan donuts. We prefer the plain one, simpel is often the best choice, but all of them sounds great.

Amazing giant Bao Buns. We had two lunch sets with chips and a drink, we tried the BBQ and the Fried Mushroom Bun. Both amazing and super friendly service. Couldn’t recommend more!

Luu's Bao Bums in Osaka is a must-try. Their bao buns are incredibly fluffy and offer a fantastic variety of delicious toppings. Plus, they have a tempting selection of five different donuts to round out your meal. It's a top spot for a satisfying and tasty experience in Osaka!

We ordered a falafel bao and one of the “meat” baos (can’t remember which) and they were both delicious. Very kind staff and they also serve drinks and dessert.

We went to LUU’s Nao on our first day in Ozaka and it was excellent!!! The service was extremely attentive and helpful. The mushroom bao (I don’t remember the name 🥲) was definitely the best choice. There are only a few tables so you might have to wait a bit, but it’s definitely worth it. We’ll be back again!!!

Yummy bao and doughnuts - Edit
Lovely staff and perfect bao and doughnuts. The bao are bigger than your average bao and are great value for the price. Chips were just ok. The doughnuts are delicious and served hot and fresh. Seating is limited, but they also offer take away as an option.

Yummy on a budget - Edit
Their 馒头 bun replaces the regular burger bun, decent portion, we tried two burgers and liked both(the ones without spicy sauce). We also liked their fresh fried matcha doughnut.

Tasty Bao Buns Vegan - Edit
I really did enjoy the food. I ordered the plant based burger for a take out. I did not wait long and it wasn't a bad price. I can recommend. They sadly were nearly sold out but the staff was super nice and the owner as well. Will go there again.

Really nice place in Osaka - Edit
The staff speaks English and is really friendly. I came for takeaway at a busy time but they handled it quite well and stayed friendly and chatty.

Luu’s Bao - Edit
Venue
Read moreIt’s an outdoor plot between 2 buildings. Cooking is done in a sort of adapted shed. There’s cover over the 6 tables (12 seats) in case of rain but can be chilly if the wind whips through.
Service
A friendly welcome from all the staff when you arrive. Water & a menu provided and you’re given about 5mins or so before they come back to take your order.
Food
I had #2 on the menu which was a plant meat burger with salad and a wasabi sauce. Extremely soft and fluffy buns. Soft burger without being sloppy and falling out all over the place. I also had the plain, chocolate and strawberry donuts and a couple of oat lattes. All very good. I wish I had a larger vocabulary so I could really sell those donuts in particular.
Price
Less than 2000jpy if you get a full set of bao, fries and a drink. 360jpy per donut. Can’t argue with that.

Disappointing - Edit
This was my least favourite meal in Japan so far, which was surprising given the positive reviews. The chips were disappointing—they tasted like they’d been microwaved. The bao buns felt overly westernised in a way that didn’t quite work; some flavour combinations were off, the texture wasn’t great, and they were far too big. The matcha donut was just okay.
Read moreThe prices were reasonable, so if you’re in need of a cheap vegan meal in Osaka, it might be an option—but seating is limited. There’s also a portaloo next to the seating area, which was unbeatable considering the small outdoor space but was a bit off-putting. I think with a bit of adjustments this place could get better overall.
That said, the staff were great—no complaints there!

Must try - Edit

Scratches an itch - Edit
All of the tables were occupied (although one four-top was taken up by one person) when I arrived at 2pm on a Thursday in mid-March. I was told to wait until one of the tables cleared out before I could sit down, and it would take the same amount of time to wait for a take-out order as a dine-in one. Only two staff were handling all the tasks, so that explains why. While waiting, I helped myself to the drinking water since I was pretty thirsty.
Read moreI was seated about 20 minutes after arriving and ordered the plant-based meat bao with wasabi mayo and a matcha donut. They came out at the same time, and I also snagged a set of condiments from a nearby table that had since emptied. The bao tasted fresh and flavorful, and the donut was battered, giving it an extra crunchy layer on the outside.
To commemorate their fourth year anniversary, the owner handed me a branded tote bag as a gift when I settled my tab. Very sweet staff! Would return to try some of their other bao and donut flavors.
