Love what they are doing - Edit
Was a bit disappointing for baked goods. I really love what they’re doing with community events, community potlucks, being inclusive and welcoming, love what they're about! But we drove quite a ways out of our way for the bakery and it was just okay. Ordered an almond croissant that was a little stale, and a mini sponge cake that was suppose to be "peach compote" but I didn't taste any peaches. The space is a bit dark. It was alright, next time I might try the sandwiches rather than the baked goods.

Yummy baked goods, bad service - Edit
I've been a couple times. Some of the best vegan baked goods I've ever had, and yet I still likely wont go back again. The people who work there are grumpy and rude, and on top of the sparce sad-looking space this made the atmosphere feel even colder. On one of my visits, my chai latte barely had oat milk and was mainly cloyingly sweet chai concentrate... I went up and kindly asked for a milk top up; the woman rolled her eyes at me and begrudgingly added another small splash of milk, which still wasn't enough to balance the chai concentrate. It's really too bad that a place claiming to be welcoming, kind and inclusive actually isn't. I refuse to give them any more of my money.

Yummy croissant - Edit
Stopped by for a coffee and pumpkin croissant. Yummy croissant. Disappointing that even though we ate in, my iced coffee was served in a disposable cup.

Perfect - Edit
Places like this are why 5 star ratings were invented. Best (apple crumb) cake I’ve ever had, and an outstanding pesto focaccia. Croissants are one of the few worthwhile vegan croissants I've ever had.
Read moreOn a recent trip I traveled from another neighborhood here, planning to treat myself by working from morning into the afternoon but -all- lunch options were gone by early midday. Plan accordingly!
Ordered a masa cake with pear compote, and I think something went sideways with this dish? It was displayed on top of a separate bowl that made me think that the compote was in the bowl, but it wasn't. I asked if the compote was perhaps inside the cake, no one knew the answer, and they said probably yes. It wasn't, so I guess the compote was...a small kiss of syrup on top of it? Unclear.
Piano playing lovely.
No cash accepted. :/

My fave bakery - Edit
Was so sad to hear it might be going out of business, but those plans have been cancelled! Though they run out quick, what they have is great - and the focaccia sandwich is GOAT
Read morePros: Focaccia sandwich is amazing, Chocolate croissant is a regular item I love

Focaccia pesto sandwich was overflowing and scrumptious. Almond croissant was good. Tiramisu was perfect. Decent although small selection of options.

Very sweet - Edit
All vegan spot in funky Fremont!
Read moreI loved the vibe.
The strawberry shortcake was delicious but a little sweet. I also had the hot chocolate which was mostly foam but still good.
The person who took my order seemed very uninterested in being there or interacting with me, which was a bummer.

Cons: Customer service

Good macaroons - Edit
I got one of every flavor of macaroon and my partner loved them. The blue one and the white one were his favorite. I also got a plain croissant thinking it wouldn’t be sweet, but it was. If you like sweets though you’ll probably like them.

Everything we’ve tried from here is great from the croissants to the macaroons. Tastes like straight out of France or Italy. Highly recommended. 😍

Beautofu Cafe! 😭💦💦💦💦 - Edit
Crying. Full story follows. Crossed town (a two-hour trek) to come to Lazy Cow Bakery in Fremont. Arrived. Cafe is empty save the Barista and a man using a cafe table as an easel for his painting. Approached the cabinet. Must be late, lots of empty spaces. The counter attendant asks if I'm looking for anything in particular, I mention the meringue I saw on Happy Cow. Oh I love Happy Cow! She says. It's not in today but there's others.
Read moreLook at the menu, lot's of options, look at the drinks menu, lots of options. A couple enters behind me, I have a seat and let them go first while I decide. Six more couples enter and queue up. Oh no! I wait and wait. Take a look around. Such a beautofu space. A free food pantry, a free vegan community dinner on wednesday nights, this is divine! Thirty minutes later, I place my order, time for the tip, as per tradition, before tipping I ask hopefully, "Are you vegan?"
An Ex-Vegan. I start crying. I go into cardiac arrest, and die from my eternal sadness and pity for humankind and their innocent victims. I can't even listen over the sounds of hopes and dreams for humanity being stomped on by the heavy boot of animal exploitation workers in a death machine factory.
As she continues to say, "but I eat out vegan most of the time", all I can hear are the whirring blades of the macerator blending 30,000 male baby chicks alive to a disgusting death every hour in the United States alone. The words "I'm a vegetarian now," are completely muffled by the sound of bolt guns murdering three day old infant bovines and the harrowed tears and pleas of tortured mothers calling for their babies while machines suck the very life essence from their bloodied nipples.
Broken, I go back to my table and try to enjoy my food, but despite how delicious and beautofu the treats are, all I can taste is the utter sadness of the realization I am supporting ex-vegans, who have no excuse and should know better, roaming the Earth with their lives intact while their victims suffer. The tiramisu tastes like heartache and the breakfast sausage is flavored by shame.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Croissants and pastries in eclectic Fremont - Edit
I have had plain vegan croissants before, but this was the first place where I found an almond croissant and it is my FAVORITE. Recently they have also been making pistachio croissants with a little cream filling, and the baker put out lamingtons before also.
Read moreI have tried several slices of cake, and like the textures, but I wish they had more varied flavors, and I feel they are gravitating away from cakes unless you want to order a whole one. I have also gotten the strawberry shortcake and the tiramisu, both good. It's a very casual, welcoming atmosphere and the owner does a lot to foster a community in the surrounding neighborhood. Prices are on the higher end, going toward fair wages and a good product, but just be aware. For example the almond croissant, plus tax & tip will run around ~$9.
Pros: Laminated pastries!, Relaxed space, Conscientious owner
Cons: Higher prices
