Best italian restaurant

Literally. The food is amazing and the owner is just the most kind and nice person ever. You can have take away but the environment is so quite and chill that it’s fantastic for a conversation, read or just relax. Please try it!

Pros: Delicious home-made food, Lovely owner and true animal lover, Price and quality are the best I ever saw

Shockingly good veganised local food

We loved all the food that we had. We tried the vegan version of Ferrara Cappellacci and Cappelletti. Mouth watering. We also had a mix of all the home made dishes including polpette and Seitan bites. For dessert we tried the chocolate salami and one truffle ball. Everything was fantastic.

Pros: Top class vegan food, Lots of options

Cons: A little bit outside of the city centre

T I R A M I S U

Absolutely adorable little shop/deli who serve and sell vegan products. We bought some things to go, but shared a tiramisu on the spot (one of the best ever and reason enough to pay this place a visit). Would be surprised if anything they make is anything less than delicious! Very genuine, run by people who love and respect animals 💛

Best Emilian traditional food!!

After I went vegan I was ready to renounce tortellini, cappellacci and lasagne, the food I grew with in my hometown in Emilia Romagna. That was until now! In this small but cozy restaurant/deli in the heart of beautiful Ferrara you get it all! Tortellini with cream cheese, cappellacci di zucca (pumpkin ravioli) with seitan ragu, lasagne.. they even have vegan tiramisu!! And they passed my personal test, so they are Native Emilian certified! It was definitely worth the hour drive to get there! Thank you Shelly for being such a wonderful host!

Pros: Tortellini!!, Cappellacci!!, Lasagne!!

Best delicious fresh food.

Ok. It’s the best place I eat so far in Italy, even in all Europe, every thing was delicious and fresh and the staff super nice!

Tasty food & great service

We really loved the pastas, the personal smile and the welcoming environment. The only reason why we give 4 stars is because of the meals size which are too small for the price we paid.

BEST vegan food!

We took a daytrip from Bologna to Ferrara and found La Vegana on HappyCow; it is safe to say that this place in itself was already worth the trip. This is amongst the best vegan food we ever had! Super friendly and helpful staff, very reasonably priced as well. A little out of the centre, but well worth the walk: you will not regret going here!

What else?

It couldn't be nicer and the food is the best I ever tasted in my life. It's just a bit far from the city centre, but, if you're vegan, a must go.

Pros: Wide choice , Cheap

Cons: A bit far from the city centre

small-great rosticceria

this is a tiny take-away (Italian rosticceria) full of small and big surprises.
Everything is home made, wonderful tasty and unexpensive. The owner is a very nice, young creative chef.
My favorite place in the whole region around Ferrara!

Pros: tasty, healthy, home made, unexpensive, vary various

Cons: small, you cannot eat inside

Very friendly, pretty tasty.

A good selection of bain marie dishes and vegan supplies at reasonable prices. Some of the dishes were amazing (the seitan balls especially), the cheesecake and the patties/burger-things was very good.

The eat in options are sitting in a comfortable loungechair (only one), but you can take your dishes to a nearby park to eat, which is quite pleasant, and return them later.

The only complaint about the food is that it wasn't so fresh, though I did go there late afternoon on a weekend, so that's probably my own fault.

The owner (whose name I've forgotten) speaks Italian and English and is very friendly.

The store is a little hard to find as it has no sign out the front as of August '13 - but it is where the HappyCow map says it is.

Pros: Food is very good to excellent., Good prices. , Very friendly host.

Cons: Bit hard to find.

All Vegan and Lovely!

All vegan food fresh, tasty and well made by incredibly friendly and helpful owner who speaks english well.
It is a small shop, but with a nice range of all vegan dishes (when I went; lasagne, tempeh with veggies, a green bean dish, tomato and almond burgers, houmous, and a good few desserts; moist tasty choc muffins and a lemon cream tart). I was surprised at how little what I got cost - so good value for money too.
Everything is homemade - the seitan and tofu, even the pasta in the lasagne. I got a bit of almost everything and it was all wonderful.
There are also a few vegan goodies (chocs etc) you can buy.
