Restaurant turned fully vegan 2020 (previously La Esquina Vegetariana). Offers customers lunch and breakfast, in addition to an a la carte menu. Located just 450 meters north of the cemetery Gardens of Remembrance, in front of the old factory Nestle, alongside the Lavacar Cartec. To get from San Jose by bus, you should only take one of the Herediana bucetas or Guararí bus, get off at Peugeot and walk 200 meters west and 450 meters north. Call ahead to have your order ready. You can make a reservation for a group or request an express service. Accepts all credit cards. Open Mon-Sun 11:30am-8:00pm.

Read moreWe had both a Main dish and a cake. The prices of the Main dishes are fair. We felt the prices of the cakes a bit expensive but they were delicious. They also have bakery food for take away. Ans they have also some vegan products for cooking at Home.

This restaurant is a hit or miss for me. I have order food via Uber Eats more than 20 times (is the closest vegan restaurant to my apartment) and some times the food is good but sometimes is really bad/they forget part of the order.

We ordered three cakes through the Marinara app and although they took a long time to arrive (due to the restaurant being quite far away), it was worth the wait. We ordered the orange cake, torta chileno and limon cheesecake, which was our favorite. The prices were cheaper than some of the other vegan places in San Jose too.

All the food is like homemade food made by a pro 💕, the menu is all vegan and you can eat with no fear of cross contamination. The owner is very nice and friendly. The daily menu is affordable and you will eat enough. Every day having new and different options, if your are nearby dont miss the chance to try. Check on IG and FB for the daily menu.

Too Expensive and Horrible Burger/Sandwich - Edit
Maybe I should have tried the plate of the day or the bowls because the vegan burger and sandwich I had were horrible. It was tofu based meat. My burger kind of had the texture of fish, but very chewy. The side of fries were lack luster. I feel like people are really pinching pennies on fries in restaurants currently. The sauces were to all over the place as well. None of the food was savory, no umami.

However it is also located on a highway type road, which was a little off putting. Their falafels were good, but falafels everywhere seem to be a bit expensive. Take the advice of the other reviewers and try the plates and bowls.
I just say this to warn people, but maybe you have a different experience. Maybe the sandwich and burgers aren’t their specialty.

La Esquina Vegetariana exceeded my expectations with both excellent flavor and very warm and helpful service. Most of the food items on the menu are vegan, and there's plenty from which to choose. I had the Super Patacones Rellenos, which were very satisfying, with mouth-watering flavor and great crispy texture. Prices are low and portions are generous, so it was great value all around. There's parking in the small lot out front.

My husband and I came in for lunch and had the plate of the day - it was already made and on display by the counter so we could see what it included. For 3000 colones each, we got a huge plate of delicious, healthy and authentic Costa Rican food, plus soup and juice. The soup consisted of a light and medium-spiced broth with ginger, potatoes, some greens and local herbs. Our plate was filled to the brim with rice, beans, barbecued soy chicken, chayote squash, plantains and a marinated cabbage and cilantro salad. There were 3 choices of drinks; we chose the passion fruit without sugar. Highly recommend this place!!! It's not as fancy as some of the other veggie places, but it is delicious and a fantastic value (about 1/3 the cost of the others!).
