Bel posto a Milano

Pros: Si mangia molto bene, Simpatia e cordialità , Dolci autoprodotti molto buoni

Cons: Servizio un po’ lungo se affolato

We loved this friendly restaurant

This restaurant was on the same road as our hotel. We would normally choose completely vegan as our first choice but the reviews were good and we didn't have to walk far! The vegan menu is extensive and most of the desserts are vegan. The restaurant is run by a mother and daughter who are both vegan. We had such a friendly welcome and the food was delicious. In fact we went twice during our weekend in Milan. Once for an evening meal and once for vegan Sunday Brunch. If this restaurant was in the town we lived in we would be regular visitors.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Very friendly, Tasty food

Amazing and agree with other review 5/5!

We booked a table for a Sunday night dinner. There are a lot of choices for vegans. I would recommend this restaurant above the other vegan places here. The chefs are vegan. We shared chickpea patties and then I had gnocchi. There was so much flavour. Incredible! My partner had the pizza and I tried it. It was one of the nicest pizzas. I really enjoyed the base too. Then for dessert I had the plate of 3 desserts with a coffee. All of them were delicious and the coffee was lovely too. I really enjoyed it. The service was lovely and friendly and I loved the restaurant. Fabulous!!

5/5 one of the best places ever!

The food was immaculate. I LOVED it. Visited 3 times in 4 days and they served me some of the better meals of my life. The service was so sweet.

The gnocchi was beyond belief. The celeriac burger was amazing. How you can make such a delicious meal out of such a boring vegetable is a miracle to me. The berry cream pie was delicious.

I do not really fancy going back to Milan in general, but might go just to go back here.

Excellent

Excellent food and vegan wine : Will go again : Everyone is absolutey charming ... and loved the italian accent of the waitress when she said burger... By the way there is no bread in the burger which makes it much lighter

Great traditional Italian food with a vegan twist!

Their vegan pizza is delicious. They make a whole wheat dough that brings a great taste to the crust of the pizza, which is much better than a white flour dough that we can find in most restaurants. Their cheese is delicious.

I also tried the raw eggplant parmigiana out of curiosity since it's a traditional dish, and they litteraly nailed it. Never thought of drying the eggplant and create a such flavorful raw dish.

Pros: Whole wheat dough, Vegan cheese, Traditional Italian cuisine

Great experience

I went here with my family a week ago and I was pleasantly surprised, especially after reading a few not so great reviews on here. The food was interesting and tasty, the focaccia was good which makes me think that pizza there would be great as well, deserts were so good especially the tiramisù. The staff is really kind and helpful. My family went back for the Sunday vegan brunch, 8 courses for 20euros and were really impressed.

Pros: Big choice of vegan options, all deserts are vegan

Cons: Portion sizes aren't huge, but depends on the dish

Money waste

Go there if you’re not hungry and have some extra money to spend, because the portions are tiny but the prices are big. Taste was ok. Also the interior of the restaurant has no atmosphere

Pros: Vegan menu, They tried

Cons: Too expensive , Tiny portions, Not a comfortable design of the restaurant

Not good

Starters were OK but the mains were a bit of a disaster. Complained about cold potatoes and apparently we were the first people ever to not like something there. Even brought the chef to the table!

Great Italian food

Tried this place out because it was Easter Sunday and the vegan only places nearby were closed. Very glad we did! A nice ambiance with a lot of tables full of people speaking Italian if that is something you are looking for.

There are both vegan and traditional items on the menu, with the vegan options shown first and separate from the traditional items so it is very clear. We had a mushroom pizza and an eggplant/zucchini pizza which were both great followed by the café gourmand which was extremely generous with delicious vegan cakes, including an Italian Easter cake.

We met the chef who is vegan herself and extremely enthusiastic. A wonderful experience.

Pros: Vegan chef, Wide selection of clearly labeled vegan beer and w, Very friendly service

Amazing vegan food, traditional Italian dishes, rawfood & desserts

Finding traditional dishes with plant based options while traveling is possible! Had this amazing Italian eggplant pizza made with rice based mozzarella cheese on a crunchy crust with fresh tomato sauce from La Colubrina in Milan, Italy. Chef Consuelo is a full vegan herself inventing amazing dishes comme antipasti, primi piatto, segundi piatto and dolce with an Italian plant based twist.

Pros: Customer Service, Quality of Food, Lots of vegan options

Traditional Italian food

After ten days in various parts of Italy and not too much to eat, this place was a really welcome surprise. "Vegan options" really meant that (or vegetarian as I prefer to call it when it doesn't contain dairy nor egg ) and not only two options: their menu includes three pages of vegan dishes of which a few are raw. And they use the vegan symbol 🌱 for their raw options.
I had the home made ravioli integrali stuffed with eggplant and cassava. Even though I couldn't feel the taste of stuffing the test was good. Unfortunately it didn't look very tempting. I also had the green salad with tomatoes and cucumber which was really good and it was quite a generous portion. Unfortunately we didn't have time to try any of the desserts. The cover/coperto was 2€/pp and didn't include bread. Prices was reasonable since the pasta was home made. Have had regular factory made spaghetti with canned tomato sauce for more than the 9,5€ La Colubrina charge.

Overall I have to say it was nice to sit down and have an traditional (Italian) meal and not again be referred to the regular vegan fast food such as burgers, wraps and pizza. So tired of that.

Pros: Traditional Italian food - not fast food, 3 pages of vegetarian options (no dairy, no egg)

Cons: A Primi Piatti sized Secondi Piatti

Nicest staff, best food, and perfect place to bring meat eaters

The chef at this restaurant is vegan, so she knows how to cook amazing vegan food. We've been here twice, and although the staff doesn't speak very great english, they do try their best. The chef saw that we ordered vegan food and sent us a couple slices of pizza to try that had house made rice cheese on it, which was outstanding. They also had things to eat for our entire family, who are meat eaters. I would come here any time I stopped in Milan.

Pros: Delicious pizza!, So many vegan options, amazing staff

Traditional Lombard dishes turned vegan

I have been here twice and was pretty satisfied both times. What I like about this restaurant is the old-Milan feeling and the staff's kindness. They offer a good choice of vegan dishes, also gluten-free, and some typical Milanese recipes turned vegan. Last time we went there we had sorghum and rice mozzarella balls, followed by a fancy kidney bean burger with porcini mushrooms, baked potatoes and vegetable brunoise and an interesting sunflower seed burger. Another dish I liked was the pumpkin and amaretto cookie gnocchi, a typical dish from Mantua turned vegan, which proved to be amazing. They also offer quite a good selection of vegan pizzas.

mixed feelings

It is confusing. They have a wide selection of vegan dishes and all the sweets are vegan but they also have some traditional dishes.
The place has been renewed but not completely so it is kind of a hybrid between an old trattoria and a modern restaurant.
It is quite dark and stifling and not aesthetically pleasing.
The same can be said for the food.
It has some potential but tends too the greasy side and lack finesse.
Despite the restaurant-quality prices.
2 € for the service with just four or five bits of bread is too much. The service itself is kind but quite slow.
The vegan desserts are good. Still, they are overpriced for 7 €.
Everything could be improved.

Pros: good desserts

Cons: slow service, overpriced , greasy

Great vegan options.

Really enjoyed my visit to Colubrina. Had the teff crepes (it's a small-ish portion) and shared a pizza with grilled vegetables and rice mozzarella. Both really nice. Lots of vegan dessert options. Very good. The restaurant's non veg options were good according to my bf who is not a vegan. The ambience is nice, good service (it was a busy night so a bit slow), would go back if visiting Milan again.

Pros: Pizze vegane, piatti molto gustosi e leggeri

Don't Miss!!!

We went here our first night in Milan, and there was a fundraiser on for the local ARA group, but they still managed to fit us in....and the food was amazing.
We went back the next night to get a take away pizza (the rice mozzarella is soooooo good!!) and the owners, who are vegan chefs themselves were so kind to us, they slipped in a blueberry croissant that we didn't notice until we arrived back to our hotel.
If you don't go here, you are really missing out!!

Very pleasant experience

La Colubrina is one of those cosy Italian restaurants where you feel very welcomed and relaxed. Perfect spot for a dinner with friends. Most of the menu is vegan which is fantastic! The food is very homemade-style and portions big enough. The selection of vegan cakes is also great, it's the only place in Milan that I found that has vegan tiramisu!

Magnifico Vegan Gnocchi!

The vegan handmade pumpkin and potato gnocchi with zucchini was truly magnifico and memorable. The owner of this cozy and friendly cafe is vegan and her mother is not so they join forces to collaborate on a menu that has many vegan options. The raw veggie salad included thin slices of carrot, apples and turnips and onions was also nice and refreshing.
