Pretty good local small restaurant - Edit
A vegetarian local eatery with mostly vegan options.
Read morePrices are quite reasonable and the food is tasty.
We had a massaman curry and a khao soy. Both dishes were pretty good.
Not the best we had in Chiang Mai, but clearly worth a visit and the price, no question.
An easy recommendation 👍

Huge selection, 99 % vegan - Edit
When we asked, they told us everything on the menu is vegan or je (a buddhist plant based, but without garlic, etc.).
Read moreThe menu has an explanation of the differences between je, vegan and vegetarian, but it doesn't actually have any non-vegan meals on it.
They will offer eggs if you request them, so it's not 100 % vegan.
I really wanted to try everything on the menu. What I had (pad krapao with vegan pork, yum hed [mushroom], fried mushroom, som tam, and khow soi) blew my mind.
Best khow soi in town.

Awesome little eatery - Edit
I walked a good 3kms to get here and it was definitely worth it. Menu is 99% vegan and the selection is great.
Read moreI had vegan chicken with rice and chilli and the shiitake mushrooms, both dishes were beautiful. They also have a small juice/shake front attached where I had a mango smoothie from, which was also great.
Cheap, came in at 220 baht for everything! Definitely swing by this place if you can

Tasty local lunch a stone’s throw from CMU - Edit
Just happened to drive by this restaurant around lunch time and noticed the big red and yellow jay (เจ) flag outside. Between the two of us, we ordered three mains and a smoothie each, and the price still came to less than 250 baht!
Read moreI really liked their khao soi—basic, but very rich and flavoursome, with nice chunky meaty pieces that soaked up the coconutty sauce. Their pad gaprao and pad thai were also yummy and authentic. The coconut-based smoothies are very decadent and delicious—we got ours blended and they were like ice cream!
A great feature of this restaurant is their condiments bar, containing various sauces, a variety of chilli, and even fresh ingredients such as beansprouts, lime, and coriander, all of which you can help yourself to if you want to add some extra flavour to your dish.
The restaurant is located a stone’s throw away from CMU, ideal for us to pop over during our lunch break to grab some tasty and very affordable local food!
UPDATE, July 2023
The khao soi was very oily this time so I left some of the soup. Consider asking for less oil. I really like the stir-fried veggies (kale, morning glory etc.) which come with nice meaty mushroom pieces. The guys working there were sweet enough to pose for my picture!
UPDATE, August 2023
Still a regular here, still great food and prices. I did, however, come across one dish that is not such good value for money: the Som Tam. The flavour was nice but the portion was soo tiny. Two forkfuls and it was gone!

Pros: Local dishes veganised 🌱, Very affordable 💸, Great location for CMU 🎓
Cons: Serves eggs 🐣
