After seeing all the reviews about this place I was prepared to be absolutely blown away. Unfortunately I left annoyed and hungry. Before ordering I asked what the chickn was made out of and was told chickpeas. I ordered bbq chickn tacos and my wife ordered the fiesty tacos. My wife’s tacos came out pretty quickly. I waited over 25 minutes after my wife got her tacos for mine to come out. When they arrived they were so soggy and also not made of chickpeas but soy curls and chickpeas. I have a bit of a soy intolerance and cannot digest soy in certain forms. I felt pretty annoyed because I had done the due diligence of asking before ordering. Menu selection was very tiny. My wife couldn’t even eat the tacos I ordered as they were soggy and falling all over the place. Spent a lot of money to not even eat. It was so busy that I did not even attempt to talk to the staff about the issue. I will say that all the employees were incredibly pleasant and that’s really the only thing this place has going for it.

We stopped in for dinner and had the bbq chicken wrap and the epic feisty tacos. Both were great but the tacos were better. Their soft serve was really good too!

Read moreHaving said that, I was pretty disappointed. We got the tacos and a crepe and both were just ok. Nothing special. Also, 3 tacos for 25$ is very overpriced, even for Hawaii. They played loud EDM inside when we went which was annoying. The only thing we really liked was the ice cream. Would go back for that but not for the food.

This place has really incredible food! I got the nachos for dinner and they were perfect. Lots of flavor, a good amount of jalapenos, delicious sauce, and it was a good portion!

I indulged in dessert and got their swirled soft serve. That was really yummy with an oat milk base. I live in Pennsylvania and we have Vegan Treats nearby that does soft serve just like this, but they have never had the flavor that this place had. The strawberry dragon fruit mixed with vanilla was very tasty and hit the spot for having vegan ice cream.
I definitely recommend this place for food.
The atmosphere was overstimulating. They had loud music blasting and there were so many people coming in and out trying to talk over the music I found myself really anxious sitting inside. I think next time I will get the food to go, but it will be worth it to eat it again!

The service is so lovely and kind and the seating area outside is peaceful and surrounded by beautiful plants. My favorite was the vegan omelette with all the yummy layers of flavors. The tacos are delicious too. There are two different kinds and I liked the ones with the potatoes best. Great salad and wonderful açaí bowls and dragon fruit smoothies. Real Kona coffee served here and complimentary juice refreshers for each paid entree.

I would 100% come here again. I went to the other Kona vegan place earlier on the trip and was very disappointed. Journey Cafe is where it’s at.

We had the teriyaki poke nachos and epic rainbowl and both were really interesting, healthy and delicious. Pretty big portions too. Tried a sample of the vegan ice cream and that was also great. Free ice tea bar was the cherry on top. Highly recommend. A nice and quiet place.

Good array of dishes for both savoury and sweet lovers. Very little inside seating, with about the same amount outside.

Ordered the Journey Salad which was tasty, but left me still hungry.
This location is kind of close to the airport, so this was my first stop so I could get something all-vegan before being left to fend for myself.

Vegan food in Kona - Edit
Tried this place on our last day in Kona and the omelet was delicious. The owner was super nice as well. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the meals were about $25 each so my daughter and I could only afford to try one dish. It was nice inside, great vibe, and loved that there were a few games to choose from for my daughter.

That’s a direct quote from my daughter. She had the strawberry crepe. We also had both omelettes which were amazing and filled us up (the gravy one was particularly filling if you’re hungry), an açai smoothie, and you could tell the soft serve was amazing from the samples they gave us. Meals came with free tea /lemonade bar. Overall amazing, try it!

Loco Moco was insanely good, vegan ice cream is some of the best you will ever try. Best meal i had in 2 weeks total on all different islands. This place will be a core memory for my whole family.

The actual food was a little greasy, sounded healthier.
We got the strawberry avocado tacos (3) and the artisian roll which was cut like sushi. We expected something rolled like a burrito. Was good, but a little greasy.
Indoor and outdoor seating available.
Also sell some handmade goods like shirts and jewelry.
We would only come back for the soft serve!

First time in Kona and headed here straight from the beach. As soon as I was 👀 looking over the menu. One of the friendly staff members offered me an ice cream sample.. he smiled and said yes it’s vegan! 🤩😍! I said absolutely and then devoured the sample and ordered the omelette I’ve always struggled to make vegan eggs but this was delightful light airy texture filled with fresh tomatoes potato’s and some sauce. I do wish there was more sauce as it was delicious 🤤 then had to order a cup of ice cream on this hot 🥵 Kona day! Their hibiscus 🌺 tea was refreshing as well. The staff is super friendly. Highly recommend
