Tasty vegan food - Edit
We went to Herbivores multiple times to try different food.
Read morePineapple pizza with bbq-jackfruit was not our favorite combination.
Chicken Alfredo pizza: tasted amazing! Recommend!
Crunchwrap Supreme: tasty!
Burrito: big and filling, similar to Crunchwrap though
Poke Bowl: not our favorite; poke spicier then expected
Mac n cheese: small portion, little spicy
Cheesecake: good but nothing special
Carrot cake: good, but could have had more frosting
Soft serve: second time was better than the first time. The toppings make it very sweet.
They have a loyalty program: if you get 200 points, you receive a $10 voucher. Double points if you order online.
Outdoor seating available (with umbrellas).

Disappointing - Edit
I feel bad about giving Herbivores a lower rating….We were excited to eat here since it is a vegan restaurant and it has a lot of great reviews on Happy Cow. We ordered a strawberry lemonade, the chicken Caesar salad, and the jackfruit bbq sandwich. The lemonade was very good, but the food items were…underwhelming. I was sad because the salad and sandwich were listed as “popular” choices so we figured they’d be good, but that was not the case. Very bland. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things, but we only ended up coming here once so I don’t have any insight on any of the other menu items. You do get free parking in the parking lot if you eat Herbivores so that’s a plus (you get the free parking ticket from the cashier after you place your order).

We wanted to love this place, as vegan restaurants are a virtuous endeavor, but ... the tacos we ordered weren't even tepid. Everything was doused in thick creamy sauce ( including the burger on a white doughy bun). The credit card tipping options were problematic: I tend to tip 20 percent but the only options were 15, 25 and (!) 35. The "custom tip" function didn't work. I unfortunately entered 25 but if due to how long the order took to prepare and its quality, I eventually regretted the 25. Two stars are solely for the idea of the place. And our daughter did enjoy the fruity drink served with a tiny umbrella.

So many options, we got the nachos and Crunchwrap and wanted to come back again to try more. They have a few tables for outdoor seating, and have a validation parking code. Service is a little slow but still great vegan food.

Vegan food in kona - Edit
Small drive through or walk up window shop. Best to order online or in advance. Six tables outside to sit at. A mix of healthy and comfort food. Had the crunch wrap special. Pretty good but needed some hot sauce and wasn't as crunchy as crunch wraps I've had on mainland. Didnt come with chips.

Cheesecake was huge and delicious. Selection of Oatmilk soft serve.
Overall good for vegan options on the big Island.

Lots of options, pretty decent overall - Edit
We tried the Big Moke and Mac Daddy burgers. The Big Moke was better. The Mac Daddy was kinda dry despite having mac n cheese on it. I would say the food is solid, but nothing too special.

Delish vegan food made with love - Edit
I first visited Herbivores in 2019. So glad to see it’s still here in 2024! The jackfruit burrito and nachos are delicious. The meals are prepared with love and everything is vegan. The food is satisfying and well priced.

Chickpea “tuna” salad and musubi solid - Edit
We’ve been here a couple times now and my favorites have been the Love The Sea chickpea salad and tofu rancheros for breakfast. Smoothies are also really good. Laid back vibe- pick the row of free parking on the left side facing the window.

Honestly pretty bad - Edit
We ate here three times this trip: had a southwest burrito, jackfruit nachos, breakfast burrito, pesto chicken sandwich, and chicken Alfredo pizza. Of all of those I’d *maybe* have the pizza again. But it’s hard to justify when Journey is a one minute walk away and Krua Thai is across the street. Everything the other negative reviews say is correct: the food is sloppily made, mostly just under seasoned microwaved fake meats.

The food is okay. I was really excited to try this place but it didn’t do much for me. Maybe it was an off night. We tried the jackfruit tacos, the chicken pesto sandwich, and the poke bowl. The nachos were decent, but could have used more tortilla chips, the poke bowl was meh, and the chicken patty tasted like a gardien patty. Bummed that we didn’t like this place more.

We loved everything we got. The pono smash burger was awesome. They make the patties and they are not too meaty like impossible but not like a quinoa/bean patty - so so good. Loved the crunchwrap and the Hawaiian pizza too!

Great vegan options in Kona - Edit
A little shack that is all vegan with tons of choices. Have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, although they were not open right at 8 and we waited a bit before they could open. Still very good food though. We had two different breakfast burritos and both were great. Smoothie was also really good

Disorganized but tasty - Edit
I’m conflicted about this one. The food was really good, but the store seems so disorganized. We got there for breakfast 15 minutes after it was supposed to be open, and the guy working there said he needed another 30 minutes to get everything ready. Then when we were ordering it took about 10 minutes to place our entire order because the guy kept walking away to do stuff in the kitchen. That being said, the food was amazing, so maybe just don’t go for breakfast??

Great food and fun vibes. We went here twice during our stay on the Big Island and both times were delicious. Cheese pizza was simple but so tasty and scratched my pizza itch. Also, you can get a parking validation pass from them for free 1 hr parking. Outdoor only seating but it is covered.
