Beautiful coffee shop in heart of Chester - Edit

We didn’t have anything to eat but the selection of vegan cakes and pastries was amazing! I’ve never seen so much selection. Normally you’re lucky to get a vegan flapjack. Wish we were hungry because I had my eye on the cinnamon swirl and lemon and poppyseed cake. I had the matcha iced latte which was delicious. Staff friendly and professional. All looked very clean with their Lucy and Yak aprons. Beautiful decor, just very clean, minimal and trendy. Will be returning and stocking up on cake!!

Loved the Bread, but I Expected More for Vegans. - Edit

This is the third site to be opened by local vegetarian business Jaunty Goat. Jaunty Goat Bakery is a small bakery that sells home-baked products, in addition to a selection of takeaway hot drinks.

During my visit, the vegan items available for purchase consisted of a Sourdough Loaf, a Seeded Sourdough Loaf, Focaccia, and a Cinnamon Swirl. There were also Plain and Almond Croissants in the bakes counter, but these were vegetarian only. Honestly, I was a little disappointed to see only one vegan baked sweet treat available, especially since this is a business whose customer base is primarily made up of people concerned with minimising or eliminating animal products from their diet. I also feel that Jaunty Goat Bakery would have benefited from labelling which products were vegan, as neither the menu nor any signage in the bakes display indicated this.

As I had just had a cinnamon swirl at their Bridge Street cafe across the road, I didn't get another one, but I did take away a focaccia and a seeded sourdough loaf. The focaccia was nice enough, but the loaf was delicious, although it was very messy to slice, as the seeds got everywhere. Nonetheless, I'd happily grab another loaf from this bakery if I were nearby again!
