Hit or miss

Our second visit didn’t fair as well as the first. We had Chana masala which no taste to me. The Spicy Momo’s seemed different. The mushroom rice was good.

First visit…I did add salt to the Dal, but was happy with the seasoning of the Veg Jalfrezi. I would not call it spicy though; which I could stand more spice! We also had the Papadam with mint and mango sauce. I didn’t really taste the mint. It was more herbaceous. The Spicy Momo’s definitely had the heat and were nice bites. The garlic Naan was tasty.

Perfect

Best indian restaurant I've been to. Really recommend the cheese naan, mushroom rice, chana massala and tofu saagwala.
I always bring friends and family when they come to visit.

Pros: tasty and diverse

Good simple food

Staff friendly, has a nice comely feel and food is simple but satisfying and price is reasonable for London. Must try the amazing vegan butter naans!

Pros: Buttery naans, Friendly staff

Great aromas but bland-ish food

Amazing smell as you enter but the food was a tad bland and my partner thought the veg biriani tasted of nothing much. My tofu curry was pleasant enough and the mango lassi delicious but not the best meal we’ve had 9f late.

Pros: Mango lassi was great

Cons: Veg biriani was under-seasoned and tasteless

Lots of tasty vegan options

Clearly labelled vegan options. We had rice, vegan naan, tofu saagwaal and amritsari rajma. All very yum. My only feedback is that it would be great to remove the dairy completely! It is not needed on the menu, especially with such tasty vegan options!

Delicious little find

We accidentally found this lovely little place when coming round the corner of a Greenwich lane from the market (also a great place to get vegan street food). It is completely vegetarian, loads of vegan choices, clearly labelled with things like vegan cheese naan and korma which normally would not be a possibility for vegans. Two of us had two main dishes, a rice and a naan to share between us and that was a perfect size. There are some outside tables for when the weather is warmer, and we saw people picking up takeaways too. Great spot for relaxing whilst people watching!

Pros: Fabulous range for vegans , Great location , Good service

Cons: Slightly tatty building/toilets etc

Casual Indian Street Food

Reasonably priced Indian food. Plenty of vegan options, clearly marked on the menu. Vegetable biryani and onion bhajis were the best of the options we ordered. Great for a low key, casual meal.

Very reasonable price

The food was ok but nothing exciting. We tried the tofu korma and the vegetable jalfrezi. It was nice to try as we walk past a lot but probably won't stop in again.

Good for lunch

A vegetarian Indian restaurant, vegan options clearly marked on the menu.

A lot of different and well-described dishes. The ones I ordered were tasty.

However, what was supposed to be a dish "with a spicy kick" according to the menu was deemed "not spicy" by the waitress. In my opinion it was of medium spiciness level. Some caution advised.

Pros: Flavorful, Vegan options clearly marked, Helpful staff

Cons: Spiciness a little understated, Lack of coziness

vegan yoghurt please!

We had an aloo tiki chaat (minus yoghurt), two dahls, rice and bread. All were ok, though too spicy for my taste. They would have been so much improved by some vegan yoghurt and it would be such a simple addition to the menu!

The ambience could also be much improved with a few tweaks. The lights were unshaded and obtrusively low and bright and the music kept stopping in an awkward way. This place could be lovely, but at the moment is just ok.

Pros: Mostly vegan , Serves soya curries as well as vegetable

Trouble I forsee with vegan yoghurt (beyond price), is it needs using within ~3 days, so could be a lot of wastage. If giving it to all, there's the risk of soy allergies; though soy's pretty pervasive anyway. I wish venues would play music in keeping with the cuisine; we had 80s pop at Cafe Spice Namaste on Saturday!

Carazy that 500g Aldi dairy yog's 35p, versus £1.09 for 13% soya beans and water. Soyabeans and dairy are subsidised, so there's effectively a 'vegan tax' :-(

Hmm you’re right it’s probably more expensive , but the use by date would be similar to the dairy yoghurt they serve anyway and oat yoghurt exists. I use oat yog at home and use it over a week without issues

Nice

We went with friends and decided to share a fair few dishes which was nice although by the time it got to us the curries had cooled down. I ordered the Pani Puri to start which I was excited about but it didn’t hit the mark I’m afraid. It wasn’t as crunchy as I ve had elsewhere before. The sauce that comes with it smelt like sulphur so I left it out.
On the evening we were there service was unfortunately slow as there seemed to only be one waiting staff. I can’t blame the guy as he was trying his best and it was quite busy. Overall it was nice enough.

Pros: Mostly vegan

Promising restaurant

We spotted this vegetarian / vegan restaurant /and takeaway (they also deliver) walking past Greenwich Market.
The owner was really friendly and quickly helped us decide on two yummy things to eat en route back to Westminster. We went for a tofu & vegetable wrap and the cheese naan, as the latter is impossible to get anywhere.
The flavours of both dishes was really good and fresh. A bit of a shame that we were in such a hurry as we would have loved to try more things on their menu.

Pros: Bright and friendly, Tasty

Tasty Indian Food - very many vegan choices…

Our starters and mains were really nice. The vegetable biriyani was especially nice. I had the tofu in spinach dish. The tofu was just chopped up and put in the sauce - not griddled or anything - which was a bit disappointing. The waiter said he thought it was cooked in a tandoori oven first but it wasn’t sadly, but it was still very tasty.

Pros: Tasty Indian food, Mostly vegan, Well priced

Cons: Tofu a bit plain - not given any bite, Only 1 vegan dessert choice

Vegan butter naan bread!

Virtually all vegan with just a couple with paneer in them. Had the thali as I couldn’t decide which curry to pick and it was delicious. The vegan butter naan is really really good.

Pros: Mostly vegan, Great location by the market, Inexpensive for London

Cons: Loos are a bit dated

3.5 - Tasty and almost fully vegan

Hullaballoo is a cute little Indian restaurant on the corner by one of the entrances to the market. The menu is almost fully vegan – all the curries are cooked vegan and the only non-vegan food that’s added to it is paneer (plus they have a few drinks and a yogurt and a sauce that aren’t vegan). This is awesome as it means you can order pretty much anything from the menu. The location is also nice, we were sat in the window watching people go past which was fun. The food itself is good, but not amazing. For starters we had samosas, which were nice and big and pretty tasty. For mains we had tofu korma and veg tikka masala with pilau rice, pappadums, and butter naan. The curries were nice - tasty and satisfying, but not bursting with flavour. The butter naan was delicious though, I really rated that and would definitely get more of that if I came again.

Pros: Menu 95% vegan, Delicious butter naan, Tasty food

Cons: Could have more flavour, Staff somewhat disinterested

Delicious

I was happy to see that most food is vegan, and clearly marked. The food was very tasty!
The curry dishes do not come with rice. One has to order rice and/or naan separately.

Pros: Many vegan options , Indian

Brilliant vegetarian/ vegan food

OK, it looks slightly down at heal, plain painted tables and floor but forget the looks, concentrate on the substance .. in this case the food!
Its brilliant!!
Its not expensive and the rortions are ample .. well I struggled to eat all of mine .. but I made it ... no waste here .. and soon no waist either!!
I see on the restaurants website, someone was critical of no music .. I'd rather applaud no music , let the food speak for itself!

Pros: Price, Food, No music
