Freshly prepared vegan fare at a bright fast-casual spot - Edit
Stopped in for dinner to try this new place out. The interior was very bright and cheery, as well as the cashier who helped us. There is some seating inside (~20) and additional on the patio out front. Parking can be problematic, so go around to the back where the Best Buy is located.
Read moreI ordered a Hearty Beef Bowl with a side of Potato Salad and started with Chickpea Nuggets. The nuggets were sort of a cross between a croquet and a falafel. The outside appeared to be battered and the inside was sort of soft and mushy. Flavor wasn't bad, but the texture was not my favorite. I probably would not order these again, as falafels are my favorite and these aren't anything like them. The Hearty Beef Bowl, on the other hand, was quite hearty! It's a LOT of food and it definitely filled me up. It's a good value at the price. The Potato Salad was another miss for me. I wasn't a fan of the cut of the potatoes nor the firmness. I much prefer less uniformly shaped potatoes and a little less "crunch". I'm not saying it was bad, just not my style.
I will definitely be back to try other things on the menu. Nothing not to like about this place except for the problematic parking situation.

This is a bright & sunny location with smiling faces and lots of outdoor seating.
The mediterranean bowl is excellent. The mint leaves really make it special. The griddled patty is a firmer texture and less bready than the chickpea nuggets. The lemon aioli is thick, tastes like tangy ranch.
The Ceasar bowl is delicious. The grilled chik'n has a different shape and texture than I’ve seen in other restaurants. Flatter strips and firmer texture. Great flavor.
The beefy crumble bowl is fantastic too. Maybe my favorite. It's so hard to decide!
I didn't care for the BBQ tofu, however. The tofu seemed uncooked and definitely was not grilled.
Every sauce here is SO GOOD!!
The sweet potato fries are crinkle cut and tasty, crisper than many other places’.
The chickpea nuggets are sort of like a lighter version of hush puppies. I like them a lot, but if you're expecting chik'n nuggies, they are NOT that.

Terrific food, great people! We were greeted with an offer of a sample of macaroni and cheese. Sold! We really enjoyed the crispy chicken and hot chicken. Great atmosphere. We learned the place is owned and worked by two sisters who started as a vegan cooking school and have been vegan for 25 years. Outstanding and caring service!

Read moreMy friend recommended I swing by here for lunch one day and I couldn't be happier. They serve a variety of bowls, sandwiches, and dessert options with everything clearly marked both online and in-store. I love a good spot where I can customize my own power bowl and they let me do just that.
My bowl was a mix of brown rice and greens, with vegan chicken as my protein and a combination of various toppings with a jalapeno dressing. The end result was this incredibly filling bowl that was healthy, filling, and delicious. It could've been two servings but I just enjoyed it so much for it to last more than one sitting.
I also got a side of their mac n cheese and it was fabulous. Very creamy without that synthetic cheese taste that you often find in vegan cheeses. It was the perfect accompaniment to my bowl.
Ordering online was easy and pickup was a breeze. The staff were so friendly and thanked me for choosing them. No, thank YOU for an incredible meal that really tasted and felt like it was made with love and care.
If you're dining in, they have seating inside as well as patio tables/chairs.

Love the food and the staff. So great. Side portions are overly generous. Could give me a cup instead of a bowl and charge me 2/3 increasing your margins and not my waistline! Lol. Hot chicken sandwich is a bit messy but so good. The BBQ bowl or the “chicken” caesar bowl are my other goto’s. So good. And dont forget the fresh sides and raspberry lemon bars!!!

The sister duo and cookbook authors have really raised the bar for plant based cooking with Hey, Sunshine Kitchen. What’s even better is they are ethical vegans who happen to be veterans in the culinary profession.

Check out any of the bowls, they are filling, delicious and satisfying. However they offer other goodies like house-made chickpea patty burger and crinkle cut sweet potato fries!
Don’t forget to order their refreshing strawberry mint lemonade, it’s the best!

Many items already gluten free and are all vegan (no milk, no egg, no meat). We needed to check other allergens about were happy to find we could order several items, some with small modifications like leaving off onions made in shared fryer
Would recommend backyard bbq tofu. Delicious and made with love. Not a veggie bowl slapped together like some other places. Each component went so well together.

The jack fruit carnitas taco was so good! The hearty side of beans and rice was a perfect complement. I got the barbecue tofu bowl with half rice, half greens. It was good! The flavors were all great. The buttermilk dressing was light and fresh. Know that the tofu is just raw tofu. I would probably do tempeh because I like firmer, seared tofu, but that’s me. I loved the strawberry lemonade. My husband got a blackberry lemonade. We’d go back!

I built my own bowl with a chickpea patty and oh my god every single ingredient was so fresh and delicious. I would eat her everyday if I lived close by. Also the cookies are so warm and soft!! Not to mention everyone who works there is super friendly.

I eat at Hey Sunshine Kitchen at least a few times per month. I’ve gotten hooked on the Mediterranean chickpea sandwich. The Caesar bowl with half greens and half rice (get extra dressing!) is also delicious. For healthy, delicious vegan food, be sure to come here!

I've been a big fan of Heather and Jenny since their cooking class days so I was very excited to learn that they opened a restaurant in my area. I stopped in just after they first opened, and have been back many many times. I just love the atmosphere, the energy, the positivity, the absolute joy that they clearly feel in bringing their amazing vegan food to anyone and everyone.
Read moreWhile all of the food is SO good, I do have my favorites. I strongly suggest the Backyard BBQ Tofu Bowl (loaded with flavors and textures!). If it's a sandwich you're craving, definitely give the Crispy "Chicken" Sandwich a go... and it pairs really well with a side of mac salad or coleslaw (or both!). I'm also a big fan of the Baja "Fish" Taco which, I suggest, you get in combo with their rice and beans on the side. Speaking of sides... the Sunshine Chowder is SO good. A cup of that with ANY of their meals is a win.
They also offer a nice variety of sauces (which, I believe, are made in-house). Not sure which sauce to order? Ask them and they will help you out so that you can match the perfect sauce with your meal. My favorite is the lemon herb aioli.
They also have a nice range of refreshing drinks... and I bounce back and forth between the wild blueberry lemonade and the spiced hibiscus iced tea.
Let's talk desserts... there are a number of yummy options, but my money is always on the rainbow chocolate chip cookies (yes, cookies plural, because I usually get one or two to go).
The menu even includes a nice kid's section!
On top of all of the amazing food is the welcoming and supportive atmosphere. If you're new to vegan cuisine and are unsure about how to navigate a vegan menu, they are there to help you. You WILL be greeted with a big smile and genuine gratitude for your visit.
Hey, Sunshine Kitchen is a wonderful place, run by delightful people who make delicious food... and it just makes me happy.

We loved the BBQ and the avocado bowls, all the individual components are individually delicious and come together beautifully. I would also recommend just popping in for a cookie and lemonade!
