Vegan restaurant, opened summer 2013. Has a living-kitchen concept with a daily changing menu and various desserts. Previously at Lappenbergsallee, opened at new address from May 2017. Close to U3 Feldstraße.
Note May 2020: open for takeaway and outdoor dining, see Facebook page for weekly hours. Open Tue-Fri 12:00-22:00, Sat 11:00-22:00, Sun 11:00-17:00.
Kitchen closes between 4-6pm.

Best Vegan in Hamburg - Edit
This is certainly the best vegan place in Hamburg in my opinion.
Read moreWe were here on the first day at its new location and absolutely loved the food here (vegan quiche with salad, sweet potato curry).
The atmosphere is very inviting, and it's just the right place for good conversations.
There's a sign outside against racism, sexism, and homophobia, and all the people working here seem to be women. It's great to see an intersectional vegan place!! Absolutely recommended!
Update: I went back here in December and ordered the same meal (vegetable quiche), but it was sooo salty that the whole dish was ruined. Hopefully, I was just unlucky.
Update 2: I went back for the same vegetable quiche, and it was fine again! Also had banana bread and a really delicious berry cake. The cakes seem to be the highlight there.
Update 3: The banana bread is still amazing. I tried one of the burgers which was pretty good, although the fries are extra which feels a bit like a rip-off given the fact that the price for fries was like €3.

Read moreWe visited the place during peak hours. That's why it took some time before we got our burgers. It was definitely worth the wait though. Everything is/seems to be freshly prepared and the burgers tasted really good.

Cozy cafe in the middle of Hamburg. On nice sunny day great to eat lunch outside. All the food was fresh, displayed well and tasted awesome. Loved the use of spices and herbs. Service was a great. Most of the options are glutenfree. The Greek bowl was great and so was the quiche. Plenty of fun drink options.

We had two nice burgers, even tho there is a bit too much salad on them. We didn’t know that in the evening they have a burgers only menu, because we wanted to try a sandwich as well. But the burgers were still great and the cake was awesome as well !

I’m a big breakfast person. And in my opinion the breakfast options here are rather boring. Was hoping for pancakes but there weren’t any on the menu, yogurt or normal porridge also don’t really strike my fancy. So I wouldn’t actually recommend this for breakfast, if you prefer sweet options like me.
Read moreBut the sandwiches I had instead were really good. Difficult to eat, but not impossible. Really good sauces, good toast and fresh veggies. Both the curry tempeh and soy filet were really tasty. Would recommend those (if you prefer savory breakfast).
I’m disappointed I didn’t get to try any cakes, there was only banana, and I think apple bread available.
Overall, 4 stars for the menu, 5 stars for the sandwiches.

Man kommt rein, die Atmosphäre ist nett. Bestellt werden muss leider am Tresen, genau wie bezahlt, das Essen bekommt man allerdings gebracht. Die Belegschaft ist oft etwas konfus und kennt sich nicht so gut aus, sind aber alle nett. Zum Essen - die Torten sind allesamt der helle Wahnsinn, einfach die besten veganen Torten, die es gibt, auch die Kuchen sind hammergeil. Das Essen variiert. Es gibt verschiedene Tageskarten, da ist mal was sehr leckeres dabei, manchmal auch nur „ok“. Viele Currys schmecken komisch säuerlich und eher nach Eintopf, als Reis gibt es Naturreis. Von der Standardkarte sind die Sandwiches nicht schlecht, aber schwer essbar und der Salat ist nie klein genug geschnitten, bei keinen Gerichten, was das Essen massiv erschwert. Die Burger könnten besser sein, durch die Vollkornbrötchen schmecken sie weniger nach Burgern und die Kartoffelspalten dazu sind leider nie knusprig sondern eher weich und grade so durch. Alles in allem vor allem als Café ein guter Anlaufpunkt, aber warm vegan Essen kann man für sein Geld woanders besser.

We had breakfast here. Good menu with interesting options. We had porridge and the tempeh sandwich. Last one came in huge portion and taste was amazing. Also good coffee and tea. Definitely recommended!

Average restaurant with burgers, salads and more. Sometimes pretty crowded and noisy.
Update 4/2019: Nach einiger Zeit war ich (als jahrelanger Veganer) mal wieder im Happenpappen. Leider musste ich feststellen, dass die Qualität in der Zwischenzeit abgenommen hat. Die Mittagskarte war sehr klein (es gab keine Tagesgerichte, nur drei Sandwiches, Salat und Quiche) und die Qualität der Speisen hat gefühlt auch abgenommen. Gemessen am Preis hätte ich zum Beispiel im Sandwich ein bisschen mehr erwartet als 3 Mini-Tempeh-Rädchen, ein paar dünne Scheiben Gurken und sonst nur grüner Salat in Massen und labbriges Toastbrot. Gefühlt war das Essen früher einfallsreicher, raffinierter und besser. In der Summe ist das Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis immer noch ok, aber ich möchte nicht verhehlen, dass ich ein bisschen enttäuscht bin. Vielleicht aber auch nur einen schlechten Tag erwischt...
