Super Natural(ly)

With my love affair with South East Asian cooking showing no signs of abating, this highly rated eatery seemed like the perfect spot to continue the romance. Touting authenticity as its main selling point, I was highly curious to see if it would deliver something beyond the norm or whether it would be a journey through familiar territory. The answer would ultimately be a mixture of the two, an outcome that was neither disappointing nor unwelcome.
Of course I knew going in that not every dish would be uniquely distinctive, staples are staples for a reason, but what I wasn’t quite expecting was the quality with which they would be executed. The starters were all prime examples of this, particularly the summer rolls, as all four were refined, elevated specimens of classic items.
Forging into the main dishes, the same standard of excellence was to be found across everything that I had. Of more customary offerings, the pho, the claypot and the bun, I can be nothing but complimentary; all remarkably fresh, light and flavoursome, there wasn’t a bum note among them.
As for those plates that were new to me - the garlic tamarind tofu and the sweet chilli aubergine - well, honestly, it was more brilliance. Slightly richer than their counterparts, but no less delicious or impressive.
Lastly, the rice. Usually, just an addendum to bulk out a meal (something which I had intended), in this instance they actually stole the show. The garlic rice was punchy and fried to perfection, while the coconut was creamy, delightfully flavour-forward and had the added textural bonus that came from the slivers of the fruit’s flesh that lay within.
All around, this was a fabulous display of what Vietnamese cuisine has to offer, and I can say unequivocally that I’ll be back for more.

Yum!

This is one of my favourite eateries in JLT. Everything I ate there so far was super tasty. Careful when you ask re. vegan options, because some of the waiters do not speak very good English.
They also have an outside area with views of JLT and the nearby lake. Service is fast and dishes are all very affordable. They also do take away. Try one of the ice teas, they're all very yummie.

Pros: Good number of vegan options, Street food atmosphere, Affordable

Cons: Menu has been the same since they opened
