No Vegan Options - Edit
We came at around 11am and there were no vegan options unfortunatly. There was only one vegetarian option.

Not a single vegan/vegetarian option - Edit
They might have sold out when I came on Monday 6pm. 1 star because the hassle of coming here and checking isn’t even worth it with actual vegan options around imo.

Two rice balls options, located in a busy area - Edit
I happened to just walk past this shop located on a busy shopping street and was pleasantly surprised there were two rice ball options clearly labeled as vegan: perilla/miso and ginger/kelp.
Read moreBoth were delicious in my opinion and a similar price to convenience store rice balls (under 200 yen).
You can even sit (great excuse to take a break from walking Kyoto) and enjoy them upstairs. You can even help yourself to free unlimited tea! You just have to ask to eat there.
Pros: Great taste, Convenient location , Can eat-in and enjoy free tea

Nice vegan onigiri - Edit
This was our favourite onigiri Shop. Most of the other Shops we went to only had plain salted rice onigiri with some sesame, but this one here had great options with different fillings. The vegan options are clearly labelled. You pick yourself what you want and go to the cashier to pay. Only takeaway. The taste was great and our onigiri were still warm. Wonderful filling snack.

Tasty and clearly labelled - Edit
I stopped here for a quick take away and tried the mustard greens and ginger and the sweet potato and chestnut. The greens and ginger was my favourite- super ginger zingy and warming while fresh. Loved that everything was clearly labelled.

Yummy! - Edit
What a great discovery! Finding a vegan-friendly onigiri shop on the street is fantastic, especially when it's delicious and affordable.
