Decent Indian food

Not the tastiest Indian restaurant I’ve been to in Japan but it worked. I got vegetable pulao, and the vegetable korma (see attached pic). Check first if you’re avoiding diary (unlike me); there might have been cream in the korma. I didn’t check that point. But there are definitely several vegan options here. The waiter told me their new hours are 9 AM - 9 PM, and I am eating here now at 2:45 PM, definitely open.

Good Indian food, good fast service

The long lines we encountered in front of the vegetarian friendly restaurants in Gion in Kyoto were depressing since we were quite hungry and just arrived. Seeing the Indian flag we became hopeful since we have traditionally found these places to be friendly to the wandering vegetarians. The place is located on the third floor- it is considerably bigger than the average Japanese eateries we found around Kyoto. Alas only native Indians and other non Japanese people are at this establishment - we could not find one Japanese customer when we arrived. The service was impeccable and the choice was varied. They were happy to answer our questions and were informative and kind. The food was delicious for both vegetarians and omnivores and we left in high spirits. Recommend.
