Truly phenomenal - Edit
A really amazing experience. It felt like you were dining in someone’s private living room in the middle of London. I went with some friends for my 10 year veganniversary and the chef even signed a card for me. Every dish was amazing. I can still remember all the flavors vividly. It’s pricey of course, but very worth it for a special occasion.

Wonderful! - Edit
100% vegan, fine dining somewhere that's vegan for the animals, exquisite flavours, fresh food, lots of creativity, attentive and professional staff, and in the centre of London - £65 isn't too bad. You'd be looking at 2 or 3 times that in Zurich.
Read moreI went here solo, before a trip to the theatre, and felt like a lovely treat to myself. Would highly recommend it if you're a foodie and appreciate good service. Even asked would you like still, sparking, or tap water. No qualms about ordering water out the tap from my maître d', s'il vous plait. :)

I asked this before but never got a reply😔 did you find the meal filling? It looks delicious but I'm concerned I'd get hungry pretty quickly lol

Great menu with fair prices - Edit
The menu was really good and the prices are quiet fair for such a restaurant and location. The menu includes vegetable dishes with less use of tofu etc. My personal favorite was the peas sorbet, which was amazing. Nevertheless, the taste of other main vegetables of each course could be worked out to become a bit more intense (e.g. asparagus). The knives could be more sharp.

Vegan Fine Dining - Edit
I booked Gauthier Soho as a surprise birthday treat for my partner and it didn’t disappoint. It feels like a private members club but welcoming and not stuffy. The staff and service were first class and they know you’re generally there for a special occasion so make it feel special. Although fine French cuisine isn’t my thing I really enjoyed it but most importantly my partner loved it, especially the wine pairing with the food.
Read moreIt was the spring menu when we were there and we had the 6 course petit diner experience. As it was a big birthday celebration I had also ordered the birthday cake as an extra, this was absolutely divine. It was quite big so we took most of it away in a box! If you are able to visit regularly it’s worth signing up as you get special offers like 2 for 1 midweek etc. Whenever we get another trip to London planned we will definitely come back to try a different menu.

Wonderful experience. The service and food were outstanding. We hesitated making the reservation initially due to the cost but we are so glad we did it. Even better than we expected.

Came here for my birthday at the end of last year. It was absolutely amazing. We had the tasting menu which was incredible - some of the best food I've had! Highlights would be the brioche buns and the vegan caviar!

Luxurious experience - Edit
We visited Gauthier Soho in September 2025 and had the small menu. We had never been in such a fancy white table cloth restaurant so it was a fun experience. The service was good and the food as well. We had messaged them about a celeriac allergy beforehand, and they had customized the celeriac dish with a lot of thought, which we appreciated a lot. Lovely experience!

Feels like private dining with so much attention to detail - Edit
Everything about Gauthier Soho is just flawless. Each course was so full of love, flavour and beautifully crafted. Everything from the table set up, to the courses was made with so much attention to detail.
Read moreYou can really feel the passion and love that was put into the restaurant as it feels very private and like you are dining in a luxurious living room (with the fire place being my highlight). The waitresses were also so attentive and warm.
You won’t be disappointed going here.
And the best thing is that there is a new menu every season with valentines and NY specials.
Also big plus how much Alexis truly cares about animals and activism!

Exquisite Cuisine - Edit
First of all, I love what Chef Gauthier is doing in advocating for a fully plant-based lifestyle. We visited this restaurant for the Petit Diner, and were not disappointed. Every course was creative, inspired, and implemented to perfection. We loved the "brioche" course, which was in other words the best vegan croissant that I have ever had. All dishes were amazing, including three kinds of apple in the pre-dessert. Loved it all. There is a little room for improvement in the farewell. No thank you, no goodbye, and no one to open the door on the way out. I found that a little lackluster, considering people come from all around the world to savor the famous flavors and creative cooking. Perhaps appreciate the customer a bit more rather than just letting the food speak for itself.

Thank you for your comment. I can see how you would say that without me sharing a little more context, and writing that would make the review longer and less relevant, as it was a minor observation. Generally, I loved the experience and all of the courses. I don't think it's entitled to have expectations for service at a fine dining establishment. I shared my experience of the restaurant and my subjective opinion.

Summer 2025 -tasting menu
Sommelier wine pairing
Upon reception at the door, I was greated by name, and taken to my table for 1.
The ambiance of the dining room where I was seated was wonderful, with upbeat yet relaxing music.
As it turned out, I was greeted and mainly served by Sommelier David Havlik.
His tableside maner was both demanding of attention, yet soft and gentle. His explanation of the wine pairing and components of the courses did not miss a bit with unique anecdotal personalities.
Canapes
Brioche feuilletée
Dady dosaggio zero franciacorta 100% Chardonnay metodo traditional Franciacorta.
Traditional method sparkling wine shines with creamy, bread and buttery dishes, this was spot on. With lemon and yuzu curd balancing the taste.
Green tomatoes gazpacho
With the picpoul de pinet domain domain de la mirande 2024
Cold, salty and crunchy a perfect texture and acidic flavor which then combined with the different acidic "dry- sweetness " of the picpoul.
There are tart strawberries and broad beans which forever change with each mouthful of the consumer.
Summer artichoke salad
And interesting texture, the sharp sweet pomegranate assisted but the smoked pine nut butter was a truly wonderful combination which really came to life paired with a little mouth warmth and the botrytis aspect of the surprise wine the Clos Lapeyre.
Surprise wine: Clos Lapeyre
Lapeyre Jurancon Sec Mantoulan 2018
a dry white wine from the Jurançon appellation in southwest, It is made primarily from a blend of Petit Manseng, Courbu, and Camaralet grapes, aged in oak barrels.
Only 2018 but beautiful and elegant still retaining a beautiful acidity.
Crêpe Romilly
Chablis 1er cru Cote de lechet 2023
"A wine pairing is a progression and a journey and I love to walk my guests through that" -David Havlik sommelier Gautier Soho 2025.
The caviar's creation was explained and scooped onto the Crepe Romilly tableside.
Having never tasted caviar this specialty of Chef Gauthier was interesting made of black kelp and agar. Gently paired with the soft crepe and beurre Blanc sauce underneath.
Sunflower and tomato capelleti
This was the one of the best experiences I have had with regards to Gastronomic excellence and precision. This Experience will stay with me for ever and as a Sommelier myself it gives me hope for the the future not only of my career, but of the hospitality
I ran out of my character limit :(

Absolutely stunning - Edit
Forget the fact that the food is 100% vegan it is absolutely stunning food regardless of your preferences. Every dish blew us away on the tasting menu, they all stood up on their own but picking a few favourites the brioche proves, as we all knew that you can make the finest French pastries vegan. Then there was the crepe which was potato based and so light, vegan butter sauce and kelp vegan caviar, oh my goodness it was so delicious!

Grand Diner Winter menu - Edit
Treated my husband for his birthday meal and it didn't disappoint. He got a cute signed card from Alexis Gauthier and they decorated his dessert. Nice touch.
Read moreWe enjoyed all the courses in the grand menu. However we felt the courses they dropped for the petit diner were the right ones as they were probably our least favourite. As such, the petit diner seemed better value for money.
The food came out at a good pace and the service was good. The restaurant was cozy - like a house - and the fire was burning, which created a lovely atmosphere.
The food was interesting and was a celebration of vegetables - no faux meat. The only downside was a lack of protein - some lentils or beans for example would have been great.
Our favourites were the brioche toast, ravioli, beetroot and the stunning desserts - the orange sorbet and nut chocolate meringue - wow! Even the pre dessert with the quince was yummy.
The carrot dish was average and the sauce with the tart was a bit too strong on the saffron. Those (and the quince) are the dishes they didn't serve for the petit dinner hence we felt a smidge disappointed to have paid an extra £40 plus £4.5 service for a piece of carrot, thin slice of tart and a slice of quince.
The group have to order the same menu (preferably my husband would have had the grand and I would have had the petit).

How Jazz would taste - Edit
Alexis is a master of his craft and a brilliant artist. As per the title the experience of a Gauthier meal is the foodie equivalent of exceptional Jazz - bold but refined, experimental but subtle, deep but accessible taking your taste buds on a journey of delight. As long time, well travelled, Vegans there is no doubt in our experience that Alexis Gauthier is a world class master of Vegan fine cuisine. The 12 (or is it more?) course tasting menu is one of the best meals you could hope to experience whether or not you are Vegan. If you live in London it would have to be worth going four times a year to experience each of the seasonal menues. We love all three of his restaurants and never go to London without visiting at least two of them.
