A memorable experience - Edit
We spent 3.5 hours enjoying some of the best vegan fine dining we've ever had. We've tried a few places around the world, and this place is a real stand out. The wine pairing is worth the money too -- the pours are fair and of course the quality of the wine is amazing.
Read moreSome of the highlights for me were the dumplings with fresh Australian truffle grated on top, a 3D printed piece of 'lamb' which was closest thing I've tasted to real lamb in many years, a baked Alaska whose cold center was protected by a thin layer of chocolate with the exterior meringue blow-torched at the table, and in general, just the marriage of seasonal vegetables in various sauces and underutilized ingredients that I hadn't heard of until this meal. The service was impeccable.
If there was only one criticism to make, it would be that some of the dishes were noticeably salty and I ended up drinking 1 litre of water which I don't normally do with dinner. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next time I'm in London to try the next seasonal menu.

Run Do Not Walk - Edit
We had no idea what to expect from this restaurant. Neither of us is a big French food fan (they're vegan-hostile!), but we decided to give it a try. WOW. We were amazed and blown away by the food. Every dish was distinctive, and really got at the essence of the food (i.e., asparagus, mushrooms, etc.). This chef really knows what he's doing. We had the pre-theatre menu, which is 3 courses shorter than the regular one. I don't think we could have gotten through the larger one, because we were totally full. There were THREE dessert courses, all amazing. The menu changes once per season, and we were there at the tail end of spring. Can't wait to return for summer, fall, and winter. Also, the price was reasonable, perhaps even on the low side, given the amount of food and the amount of preparation that went into it. A great value. Thank you!

One of a kind experience - Edit
It was my BFs birthday dinner and we went for the petit diner as a treat. Enjoyed every minute of it! The staff were very professional and friendly, the restaurant itself a unique atmosphere. Every dish was a piece of art! Fave was the focaccia.

Amazing experience - Edit
We booked a table for the petit dinner, which featured a fantastic spring tasting menu. Delicious flavours, very nicely presented, great service. Overall a very special experience. What I really liked was the fact that the different dishes highlighted tasty seasonal veggies, rather than trying to copy traditional meat or fish ones. The chocolate dessert at the end? A show stopper.

This was an experience I will never ever forget. A fully vegan dining experience like no other. Ten course tasking menu to rival any, and seriously challenge the non believers. We also had the matching wine as well.

At home box is spectacular - Edit
We had the Northern Italy at home box and it blew us away it was so delicious.
Read moreThe menu was beautiful, our favourite courses were the minestrone and the barbajuan. It was all really easy to put together and each course only took a few minutes. Such creative and delicious food, it really is another level. I cannot wait to visit the actual restaurant one day!
We have also ordered the faux gras this Christmas and they've all been so so amazing.
The only thing we struggled with was heating the gnocchi as a block, with the leftovers we chopped it first and fried them
Individually and we thought the results were better.
Pros: Eco packaging , Creative and delicious

Dissatisfied & disappointed - Edit
I read ‘amazing’ reviews about this place & because I can’t afford £££ for a meal out, I chose the Box Menu which at £75 isn’t cheap.
Read moreUtterly disappointed by the bland boil in a bag food. The best thing was the onion & pomegranate marmalade & faux gras (only just). Coconut Broth was shredded carrot & noodles no broth (!!), Daal had a strong acidic taste of vinegar - not daal, the swede was inedible, pear raw, financier fatty and glutinous. If this had been a local eaterie trying to be pretentious I might have forgiven it. But so much praise has been lauded on this place, I feel duped or people have low culinary expectations… Just provide a normal takeaway, cut the pfaff.
I really wanted it to be good and I’m very sorry it isn’t.
Pros: Arrived on time , Nice cardboard box
Cons: Plastic should be biodegradable

After reading so many articles about Alexis Gauthier’s restaurant, I decided to take my partner for a belated birthday meal. What a meal it was!

Fully vegan now - Edit
Huge cheers for Gauthier going fully vegan which is also why I had to come here as soon as I heard about it. 2021 has been hands town the best year so far in the plant-based restaurant scene. So many exiting new openings in London, some of which have blown my mind. Sadly, Gauthier is not one of them.
Read moreWe had the summer tasting menu of 10 courses. All in all I think it was nice, some courses such as Berlingot a la Truffe & Pithivier d’Ete & Comme un Formage were excellent. I do honestly think though that all the remaining courses were underwhelming and random… for example, I found the Blettes de la Mer entirely tasteless, it was supposed to taste a bit fishy and was even served with a sauce, but no flavor whatsoever, of seaweed nor anything else for that matter.
It's not a bad choice for a special occasion though there are much better options in London for a lot less money. When it comes to food, considering the price they charge and the competition, I guess I expected more and left rather unimpressed. I think it’s also worth pointing out that I’m not a huge fan of French cuisine as I prefer more temperamental cuisines that play with a lot of different spices and rich flavors.
In conclusion, nice experience and tasty food but certainly with some room for improvement in terms of menu design and flavors.

I LOVE Gauthier. This is a top notch Michelin star restaurant offering an innovative and delicious rotating vegan tasting menu. I’ve eaten here twice already and can’t get enough. The presentation is impeccable, and I’ll never forget when they presented a carrot dish with a mostly cooked carrot that they ground up in front of me (with a hand grinder).
The dining space is very intimate. It feels like you’re in the room of someone’s home but you’re separated from other dinners and the lighting is dim. The setup didn’t feel any different pre/post COVID since it was a semiprivate dining experience anyway.
This is a nice place for a celebration or to take someone on a very fancy date.

Now completely Vegan - Edit
Visited Gauthier Soho for its reopening lunch service today. The set Summer tasting menu had seven courses for £45, although the first was an "amuse bouche"; truffle risotto was really tasty and the dessert "Louis XV a L'Or" was a knockout for chocolate lovers, similar to Sacher Torte. The switch to completely plant based options was clearly a shock to some of the returning customers, so this has been a brave decision by the proprietor.

Home delivery box - disappointing - Edit
I ordered the Vegan home delivery box as a birthday treat in lockdown. It was very disappointing. I thought out all the courses only one was good. The others were very bland. They forgot to include the dark chocolate truffles. The box was to serve 4 and I know there are a lot of courses and overall it would be enough for 4 at one sitting but the portion sizes would have been minisule - 3 spoonfuls of Kentish carrott veloute in a soup bowl. More care could have been taken with the preparation (e.g. greasy croutons) and packaging (a pear and apple tartin where the party was soaked with the juices and so would never crisp on warming in the oven). I was so disappointed after cooking for myself all these months. I wouldn't order again and perhaps it has put me off visiting the restaurant.

Cons: Food was bland, Portions very small, Packaged poorly and lots of plastic
