Buena oferta - Edit
Me gustó la carne (soya o trigo, con sabor a Pastor, Milanesa, etc.) sabe muy rica y hay muchos complementos: papas, nopales y salsa. Agua y postres, está padre que sea un puestecito de la calle :)

I'm a vegan hot dog fanatic, and hands down these were the best. Inexpensive and high quality food including tacos, tortas and desserts. Super popular food stall.

Mind Blowing. Beats a lot of the expensive restaurants - Edit
The place was packed. and all those people couldn't have been vegan. this is what its all about: making amazing vegan food that even meat-eaters keep coming back for.
Read moreThe tiramisu was insane. literally something you would buy from a restaurant for probably 4 times the price...its was only 25 pesos (a little over a dollar). the texture was perfect. the coffee and chocolate flavors some through strongly and it was not cloyingly sweet.
The Torta with pastor (i think tempeh seasoned with mexican chillis), avocado, mashed beans, onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled pineapple pieces, vegan mayo: out of this world.
Seriously i've had some dishes in expensive restaurants in mexico city that were so bad they were inedible....and i have never been disappointed with the vegan food stands/trucks/stalls in mexico city (mind you...i have been to 7 of them so far). I'm dying to try the rest of their menu (donuts, cupcakes, cheesecake, tacos, and their other savory stuff). This place is an absolute must.
Pros: Amazing Food, Friendly staff, Insanely affordable
Cons: Crowded,,Nowhere to sit

Nom nom... - Edit
This place is a bit of a godsend amidst all the meaty taco stands and cheesy pizzas. The tortas are nicely large with a wide selections of salsas and garnishes and a great but of fuel for hungry vegans around this part of the city. The service is snappy and efficient and always with a smile.

Cons: might be a bit junk food for some, soy meat so not for everyone

Tasty - Edit
I was ready to hate the fake meat stuff but it turned out to be good. It was obvious that it was tofu and they were not trying to make it appear like some body parts of some poor animal. 2 tacos for 30 pesos filled me up. Bought a cake and a donut too and they were heavenly. Many young people were enjoying the food.

Real Street Food! - Edit
Was in Mexico City 3 days staying in an hotel close by....loved it and went there each day! Simple street food stall with choice of several tacos and tortas (sandwiches). You can even ask them to mix various meats into one....big portions! If you can manage to eat more they also have delicious cupcakes and other desserts. They are very helpful and friendly, adding this to my favorites!

Fast, street, and cheap - Edit
I think i paid 30 MXN? .. thats like 1.50 USD for 2 tacos. I was completely filled after that. It wasnt a culinary experience but it was good. If you are around the place i would definitely suggest trying it.

Really just for take away - Edit
I can't deny there are many perks to Gatorta: This centrally located food stand provides quite some options to choose from, usually you don't have to wait for long and the food tastes good. You can see how their prepare your order and there are some containers with spices, sauses, a variety of toppings for free you can put on your order once it is done. Everything is really inexpensive and also the staff is the nicest. For dessert they had (among other things) a mindblowing pastry with a nougat-like filling (+ some nuts).
Read moreBut on the other hand there are a few obvious drawbacks, the lack of space to eat being the main one in my opinion. If you order food to take away, that's fine, but in any other case you would stand there uncomfortably, on one side you have the big street where reeking cars are passing by each second, on the other side pedestrians would try to run you over on the pavement.
Moreover, we are talking about fast food here. That doesn't have to be a bad thing, but just saying. The food is good, but not that good, so I can't possibly give five cows to Gatorta. Even if their heraldic animal would have been a dog instead a cat, still not.

Authentican Mexican Food - Edit
This place is as close as you can get to a real mexican experience. It's a taco and torta stand close to a busy street. You stand, order and eat.
Read moreEverything's vegan, the staff is really nice, and it isn't very busy.
I suggest the pastor tacos (spicy) and the cranberry cupcakes.

quick, tasty street food in the middle of it all - Edit
For years, one of the hardest thing to do as a vegan was see all of those taco stands throughout the city cooking up their onions and with all of their great sauces, but knowing that there was nothing you'd want.
Read moreThis place and a few other new taquerias are really changing that. It's right at the corner of Puebla and Insurgentes, a few minutes from the metro. You can recognize it by the big cat on the stand. Friendly staff and delicious tacos and sandwiches. Note that vegan meats feature pretty heavily here, so those who aren't into soy or gluten won't be as happy. There isn't much space to sit, but people just improvise or sit around. Another thing they have is fantastic deserts... the cakes are fantastic and go down perfectly after some greasy/spicy/salty tacos.
Pros: quick, cheap, tasty
Cons: limited selection, wish it were open later
