Best vegan egg toast ever

This is the second time I visited this café, the first time was 2023. Both times I had the vegan egg toast, both times absolutely amazing. I don't know how they get the texture so eggy.
We also had the iced strawberry matcha latte. Amazing as well.

Good breakfast options near the station

We came here one morning before getting on a train. It was quite busy so we had to wait a while but we were able to find some seats.

We all had the egg toast and enjoyed it very much. It was a good thick slice of warm toast topped with a generous portion of well seasoned vegan scrambled egg. The texture was good, there was a good eggy texture and flavour with just the right amount of salt and pepper. However, the egg was cold, it would definitely have been better if the topping was warm. We also got banana bread and citrus bread slices and these were nicely baked and well flavoured. The portions are a little small so I would recommend getting at least two things to eat.

The cafe lattes were nice and they also had a nice chai latte which has been a bit more of a difficult find as vegans.

Good option near the station

Mercy is closed Tuesdays, so our hopes for one last egg sandwich before the train back to Tokyo were dashed :(( but turns out the egg toast here is also delicious! They only do the toast and some banana bread as their main food options but both are equally tasty. Only downside is the portions are small - I could easily have eaten twice as much and I don’t have a particularly huge appetite

Tasty vegan egg toast

[Visited June 2024]
Lovely café for breakfast. I had the vegan egg toast and a slice of earl grey banana bread. I also drank an iced hojicha latte. Loved the latte and egg toast, the banana bread was a tad dry. Would still definitely recommend this place!

Very nice cafe

Love you come here to work.
It's cozy, not too busy, and the drinks and sweets are amazing.
I wish they had almond milk, tho.
Friendly english speaking staff.
Very easy access from kyoto station.
The drinks are a bit pricey tho.

Holy COW the egg toast here was so delicious that we had to come back the next day for seconds and it was sold out!!! The coffee was also just delicious. I’m so mad I can’t come here every day like who would do such a thing UGH

Pros: Food, Ambiance, Location

Great egg toast

The egg toast was really good, my non-vegan friend tried it and she was so surprised! I could have eaten another! The drink was also nice. Overall, just a little expensive but not bad at all as a midday snack/or afternoon break.

Pros: Food menu yummy

Cons: Mandatory drink, It was a little expensive , Food choices are limited

Nice coffee conveniently close to Kyoto station

We went there just for coffee, so we did not try any of their vegan food.
We had a drip coffee and a moccha, and both were nice, but nothing outstanding.
The place was cute and very conveniently located (next to Kyoto station), which made it a perfect spot for a coffee and a snack before / after taking the train.

Pros: Good coffee, especially the moccha, Close to Kyoto station

Cons: Would be nice if they opened a bit earlier

Pricey for small portions

The place is really cute, but as one can tell, they really only have loaf slices (earl grey or blueberry when I went) or a vegan egg toast. I had a latte, the earl grey loaf and the vegan toast, which were all good, but nothing special. Also a bit expensive considering the small portions - I definitely needed both the loaf and toast to be full

Cute, modern cafe with tasty drinks and food

The atmosphere for Coyote is so nice. Clean, modern, light wood. Good music playing and friendly staff.

The default milk in their drinks is oat milk, however soy (and dairy) is also an option. They have a wide variety of drinks, as well as beans to choose from for some of them.

I got the vegan chai and the vegan eggs on toast. Delicious! I have never had vegan eggs like this and they were great. I never reslly liked non-vegan eggs on toast but this was amazing! Would come back. A little pricey, but worth it for nice coffee, food, and atmosphere.

Pros: Atmosphere, Coffee, Eggs on toast

Cons: Dairy milk is an option

More focused on drinks than food

Food options are quite limited (egg toast, banana bread and cookies), but the egg toast was very good.

Be advised that it is mandatory to get a drink so it gets a bit pricey if all you really want is food.

Got the last egg toast at 3.30PM (Tuesday)

Amazing 'egg' toast! There's also plain and a second banana bread choice. First day there was blueberry and I went back and it was Earl Grey. Both delicious.

Had a great coffee break here

Lovely little coffee shop, the oat latte was a treat and the banana bread was delicious! Adding a photo of the entrance as it can be easy to miss being right in the corner of the plaza.

Pros: Delicious oat latte, Delicious banana bread , Friendly staff

Limited vegan options

They only have two vegan options: eggs on toast and banana bread. We got there early after walking 30 minutes but the egg on toast had run out. I didn't want to eat or drink anything but just sit with my girlfriend and friend and chat at the 4 person table but they told me I had to order or leave. Slightly rude all things considering.

Cons: Asked me to leave, Limited options, No toilet in the cafe

Busy!

Great coffee, not to sweet matcha (harder to find than you think!), lovely banana bread (normal and earl grey flavour). They were really busy and ran out of the egg toast before midday, and the matcha was expensive, but we bought a second round of coffees and those were cheaper (300 yen). Lovely service, great cafe

Pros: Great vibe, okay to bring your laptop and work, Great food

Cons: No meals -very much a cafe for drinks not good

please try the egg toast

went here the first day STARVING and they had no food left (12pmish). i’m so glad i came back to give them a second chance

i came early the next day and got an egg toast and banana bread with a latte. it takes a while to come out and the banana bread was nothing special, but the egg toast blew me away. toast is one of my favorite things and i used to eat it with eggs all the time before i was vegan. this tasted exactly like the real thing. it’s salty, savory, crunchy, and soft.

the coffee is really good too and i got a discount on my second drink. the staff is friendly.

it takes a while for the food to come out, so maybe don’t come if you are in a rush. the takeout cups seem to be eco friendly though!

there are also limited seats, but they have a nice bar facing the window for people who come alone.

Vegan chai latte

Very tasty vegan eggs on toast and banana bread. Particularly liked the vegan chai latte. Busy place. Just a note that they are closed on Mondays. Close to rear of Kyoto station, bus station side.

Cons: Limited menu

Vegan matcha latte!

The egg toast and banana bread were super nice and I was really happy to have finally found a place to try a matcha latte with oat milk. Coyote is the perfect place to stop by for a coffee and a quick snack before a trip. For a big breakfast I’d probably choose another spot.

Pros: Vegan matcha latte, Freshly baked goods

Cons: Rather small portions
