Mixed experience - Edit
Very friendly waitor, place was full. The Singapore stir fried noodles were medidores, sauce tasty, but the tofu a bit strange and everything way too oily. The passion blossom tea and the desert were tasty.

Great food in the centre of Old Quarter - Edit
The food here is really delicious; it is in the centre of Old Quarter, Hanoi; and the staff are really nice and speak very good English. Credit card is accepted. I especially liked the miso ramen. Note that there is another Chayfood in Tay Ho that is largely identical.

Hit the spot - Edit
I ordered some fresh rolls that I had to wrap myself (which was fun!) and a delicious noodle soup. Service was prompt and friendly. The central location can't be beat.

Nice fresh spot - Edit
Lovely little spot, was very near our hotel which was super convenient - just a street or two away from the lake. Definitely sit upstairs when you go!

Chay Food - Edit
Ristorante vietnamita ma anche un po’ fusion. Piatti buoni e sani, ma nulla di memorabile. Prezzi un pochino sopra la media a mio parere.

Enjoyed the kimchi and snacks, would have preferred bigger portions - Edit
Visited Chayfood for dinner.
Read moreVegan Korean food isn’t easy to find, so I jumped at the opportunity to try their kimchi fried rice. A nice mix of veggies, kimchi, rice, seaweed and spices.
Had creamy pumpkin soup and mushroom sausage as appetisers. The cashew cream in the soup was rich, blended with coconut milk. The mushroom sausage snack was crispy and flavourful. In my opinion, the flavours of the mushrooms come out best when you have it without sauce.
Finally, the Thai curry was different from curries I’ve had in the past. It was a thicker curry with less veggies. It needed lemongrass and other important herbs.
Portion sizes were small so we needed to order more dishes.

Returned here 2 years later, still the tops! - Edit
We visited here in 2023,
Read moreCame back for some breakfast banh my sandwiches only to find that they are still one of my most favorite restaurants in Hanoi!
Got both the banh mi pate (authentic gorgeous banh my) and the tofu sausage banh my with cheese sauce (had an awesome spicy kick.)
for dinner, we have ordered just about everything on the menu (except the pasta) they’re hot pot selections are awesome and tasty, we really haven’t had anything that is even remotely subpar here.
For reference, we are a Vegan globetrotting family of 6, consider ourselves foodies (I have a vegan podcast) so we have eaten our way around the world.

This place is definitely one of my very favorite vegan joints in Hanoi, in addition to being completely vegan, it’s also what I call clean food. Which is only evidenced by how you feel after eating it.
Can’t give enough love!

Delicious! - Edit
Loved our food here! There is SO much choice on the menu, we actually found it hard to choose. We all went for a bahn mi and shared fresh spring rolls. The peanut sauce with the rolls was the highlight but it was all delicious. The staff were lovely (and patient) and overall we felt like it was good value. I would recommend the restaurant to everyone.

Great food experience - Edit
My partner and I visited for an early breakfast (7am). We were able to choose off the breakfast menu, there were two different types of banh mi and four types of noodle soup available. We both ended up getting both types of banh mi and a Vietnamese vegan milk coffee with the combo deal (1 banh mi 1 drink for 75k).
Read moreBoth banh mi were excellent and fresh, coffee was delish (but strong!) - and the service was great. The lady serving us was very kind and attentive.
Would most definitely go back 🎉
*edit: we ended up going back 2 more times - would recommend both the fresh rice paper rolls and the pate banh mi*

Early breakfast - Edit
Came here for breakfast before 7am, got 2 banh mis and 2 coffees for 150,000 which was great. Very yummy, good vibes inside and the staff member was very nice too. Found that the more traditional banh mi was slightly better than the vegan sausage/cheese one but you can't make a wrong decision here. They also had noodle soups and a variety of other drinks available for breakfast.
