A Sweet Little Escape at Rotkehlchen Café - Edit
I’d heard about Rotkehlchen from a friend and just had to visit. The café is quite small, with tables set closely together, but I managed to get a window seat - absolutely perfect and totally my vibe! It’s beautifully and cozily decorated, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home right away. The menu is lovingly designed, and I really appreciate that all the different plant milk options are listed. There’s even some cute merch - and their little Rotkehlchen mascot is just adorable!
Read moreThe staff were very friendly, though a bit slow and forgetful at times. I ordered a matcha latte, but unfortunately, it wasn’t great. Either there was a mix-up with the order or it just wasn’t a good matcha - the flavor was weak, the color pale, and there was another taste I couldn’t quite identify.
For food, I went with the quiche, which was delicious, though a bit on the smaller side. I’d heard that the bagels and paninis are more generous in size, so that’s probably better for a bigger appetite.
The absolute highlight, however, was the Nussecke I took to go - my first vegan one ever, and it was perfect! Not too much chocolate, beautifully nutty, and full of nostalgic comfort. My inner teenager was thrilled. I really wanted to try one of their many cakes (the selection looked amazing!), but I guess that just means I’ll have to come back.

Very cute café with many great lunch options and cakes. We tried two paninis, one with seitan and cheese and one with ziegelkaase and agave, both were very delicious. We also had a home made apfelschorle and vanille latte, both of which were very good. They have loads of cake options and a very extensive menu. Service is good and very fast

Choose the panini when you’re hungry and a bagel if you’re less hungry. I had a vegan salmon bagel and that’s why I had space for the amazing piece of Spaghetti-eis cake 😍🍰
We had a nice chat with the waiter about where we’re from and also explained and showed me what the very German ‘Spaghetti-Eis’ was that the cake was named after. They had so many pies and cakes to choose from, I wish I could have tried them all!
Definitely a must visit if you’re vegan but also when you’re not! The atmosphere is great and the service is even better. Will for sure come back when I’m in Cologne next time. 🌱

So awesome. Staff was very charming, the café is cute and I love their selection, especially their cakes look absolutely stunning, though I sadly didn't have room for one. Tried one of the Panini and it was very delicious and fresh, huge size so difficult to finish but thus worth the prize too. Also got a treat to go, which was good as well. Would definitely love to return there and try some of those cakes!

Very tiny café, staff was very friendly , huuuuge variety of vegan cakes, not that many savoury options in comparison, but they have a range of quiche, panini and bagels with different fillings. Everything we tried was wonderful. Excellent matcha latte as well!!! As a vegan cake addict, I will definitely come back.

Read moreFür die Größe des Cafés ist das Angebot sehr üppig. Der Kaffee ist nach meinem Geschmack zu dunkel geröstet. Das Panini war gut, etwas zu ölig. Zum Frühstücken würde ich nicht wiederkommen aber die Kuchen sahen lecker aus, die werde ich bei Gelegenheit mal testen.
Schade, das hier nur Kartenzahlung möglich ist.

Super gutes Essen & guter Matcha Latte - Edit
Wir teilten uns zu zweit ein Panini (Keese-Tempeh) & eine Quiche (Karottenlachs), welche uns von der Bedienung netterweise auf zwei Tellern halbe-halbe gebracht wurden. Auch der Iced Matcha war sehr gut, ich fands vor allem schön, dass im Vorhinein gefragt wurde, ob die standardmäßige leichte Süßung in Ordnung wäre. Insgesamt hatte das Café auch eine angenehme Atmosphäre & ich würde definitiv wiederkommen.

I love this café, especially the tempeh panini. It’s very flavorful and filling. I also like the variety of coffee/matcha drinks and cakes they offer, I haven’t had a bad one yet. However, it is a bit on the pricey side.
