Amazing atmosphere - little for vegans :( - Edit
Spent a celebratory evening with partner’s family at Burnt Orange. Service and atmosphere was immaculate.
Read moreHowever, for a contemporary restaurant, the vegan options were sadly scarce. Waiters handed me the original menu with hand written x’s and alterations next to a menu that originally had a total of ZERO vegan starters, ZERO vegan mains, 4 vegan snacks and 3 vegan sides. The dessert menu offers ZERO vegan options also - with nothing amendable to be made vegan. After alteration, I was able to have a single starter option, and an option of three mains - all smoked vegetables.
However - the food that was altered to be vegan, was divine. The smoked aubergine was a myriad of beautiful flavors, and the artichoke hummus has been crowned my new favourite hummus anywhere. The presentation was immaculate and service was not too long that you began to be impatient, but not too short that left you without that desired yearning and anticipation for your food.
Although the service was impeccable, and atmosphere was stellar at Burnt Orange, I cannot recommend this place for vegans. If you are going with a carnivorous group, you will enjoy your time and have some beautiful food to enjoy, albeit with a critical lack of choices.
Also be warned - portion sizes are recommended at TWO mains per person, with around 3-5 total plates of food recommended. Between the 5 of us, we easily exceeded the £300 mark.
Pros: Atmosphere , Service
Cons: ZERO unaltered vegan main courses

The Burnt Orange Experience - Edit
These tasty dishes are hand selected and cooked to perfection. Dine from the sharing Experience menus or choose from the individual dishes like we did. Having asked for vegan recommendations, we chose wisely and were not disappointed. Our server hand marked the menu to show which dishes could be adapted to a vegan choice which meant we had so many dishes to greedily choose from. Having walked into this buzzing venue without a reservation, we were welcomed and within minutes were sat at a good table with our drinks order being taken. The ambience was upbeat from happy customers enjoying themselves and the attentive staff added their own individuality to this restaurant which is part of a small and select group of restaurants. We have now been to Burnt Orange many times since its opening and consider this one of the top Brighton restaurants to frequent. Lucky us! Veganuary 2024 saw a lovely offering from Burnt Orange which, rather predictably, was simply fabulous! Thank you, as ever.

This continues to wow us! This November 2024 Experience Menu (made vegan) surpassed our already high expectations. We were astonished by the quality and taste of our food
Read morebut the Miso Aubergine should be award winning. Absolutely spot on and leaving all poor imitations far behind and in Brighton, maybe restaurants try, yet fail to reach such a high standard.
