Great Little Place! - Edit
Recently in Strasbourg for Christmas Markets, had two lovely dinners here. Both nights my spouse & I made sure one had the special while the other ordered from the menu. We were very happy with all our choices. My spouse(an omnivore) especially enjoyed one night's special of veggie lasagna and later declared it was the best meal he had in town. I had both veggie and vegan dishes, no complaints - I cleaned the plate both nights!(ovo-lacto veggie when traveling for cheese).

interesting trendy tasty - Edit
Interesting food. Reasonable vegan options. Not much flexibility for special requests and lots and lots of white sugar and cheese. Very friendly and picturesque location. A must stop in Strasbourg.

Cosy and quirky and vegan friendly - Edit
Was here last night ( a Saturday evening) and was really happy to find such a place near the cathedral. I was the only vegan in our group but the others ( all meat eaters) were happy with their food too. I read that during the week the daily specials usually include several vegan options so was slightly disappointed that in the evening there was only one option in the mains. The same for the dessert ( as well as fresh fruit) but it was delicious! This place is also supposed to be good for hot chocolates but I was too full to try... Will do when it gets a bit colder :)
Read moreThe interior decoration is cosy and a bit quirky and the outdoor terrace is very nice too, all in all a good place that I would recommend.

Nice place to stay with good food - Edit
The restaurant is located right next to the cathedral and was easy to find. There were a number of vegan options available, which were clearly marked. The vegan burger came with delicious home-made ketchup. Overall, the food was very good and not too pricey. The waitress who served us was bilingual (french/german).

Great find! - Edit
We were initially skeptical about eating here due to some of the reviews we'd seen, but we walked past it and thought it looked really promising so stopped for tea. There are only a few vegan options on the regular menu, but they're clearly marked. Of the daily specials, I believe 4 of 7 were marked vegan, and 2 of these were also gluten free. I highly recommend the burger! All the food was delicious - my partner even ate the aubergine on his plate even though he normal hates it. Staff were very friendly and spoke a little English. Also in a really nice location (next to the cathedral) with reasonable prices for Strasbourg. We paid around 25 euros for two mains and two drinks, though there were also cheaper menu options. Worth a visit!

Too Bad - Edit
After failing to find another nearby vegan restaurant I then went to this as it was my planned backup. I did not eat there because the few tables inside were full, and the outdoor seating area was filled with smokers. I did stop to look at the menu, and it was in French only, and then I found that the staff spoke no English and did not understand what I meant when I used the terms Vegan, Vegetarian, Vegetarier and so I gave up.
Read moreCons: Smokers filled the eating area, No English menus, Staff didn't know what a Vegan was.

You seem to have a hard time finding addresses [especially in Strasbourg]! If you can't find a place, a review may not be necessary.

I can assure you the staff knows what vegan is! I going very often there and they know what vegan and vegetarian is + it is excatly the same word in french! Then some of the staff may not speak english but you re in France ! When I am going to the usa I speak english and no french. And when going to a country I don't speak the language, I always have a small dictionnary whith me so I can be understood. You can't blame them for not speaking your language!

a good vegan option - Edit
My friend and I were in Strasbourg for a day and visited this place since it served vegan food.
Read moreWe arrived in the afternoon and both ate pasta with sautéed vegetables on top. It was delicious! I really liked the soft spicy flavour and even loved the eggplant which I normally find uneatable.
The staff was friendly and after some explaining vegetarian meals could be made vegan. The only problem was that they didn't speak English.
The place also offers delicious looking desserts and packaged homemade chocolate and some lovely kitchenware.
The bistrot is located in the city centre, close to the cathedral. But since it's on a side street, you can barely hear any city noises when you're sitting outside.
Definitely a place to check out - especially for vegans (because there aren't a lot of options in France).
Pros: lovely atmosphere, city centre
Cons: not many vegan lunch choices, only french speaking staff, not very big portions

Several Vegan Options Outside of Brunch Service - Edit
Great place, wonderful staff and service. But sadly the weekend brunch doesn't have a vegan option, and no menu service is available during the brunch rush. (Although the owner said he was considering an update to have a vegan brunch option in the future.) So we had a hot chocolate with soymilk (very good), and came back at 14:00 for lunch. The vegan veggie burger was very good! And for dessert there was sorbet and fruit. And I think the dark chocolate fondue was vegan too, but we didn't verify. Desserts are so easy to make vegan, I'm confused why there wasn't more choice from the large dessert menu.

Excellent little restaurant - Edit
Our hotel was right next to Bistro & Chocolate so we ate there several times. There was always a choice of several vegan options, including the most delicious desserts! The food was wonderful, and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed eating there.

Very pleasant - Edit
Pros: Situated, very conveniently, in a central location. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and, weather permitting, you can eat indoors or outdoors. The food was absolutely delicious and there was a good selection of both main courses and deserts. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating.
Read moreCons: Service was a little slow but the restaurant was quite busy at the time and the delay did not spoil our experience. There were five of us (sitting indoors) and it was a bit cramped.
Overall, I would strongly recommend a visit.
Pros: Good food, Good selection, Pleasant decor
Cons: Slow service, A bit cramped (for five)

Good food but not really vegan choices - Edit
When I tried this restaurant in October 2012, they had no vegan dishes in their menu card, except a small salad. I consequently asked if it was possible to have something more interesting but without dairy (that they use a lot) and eggs. If the waitress did never heard what veganism is, I explained and the cooker was able to give me a nice customized vegan dish (you can see the pictures of it, above). So, I was happy with that and with the fact that they said me they will try to have some vegan options in the future. However, vegan choices in terms of dessert were also very small, for not saying inexistent, which is very a shame! Vegans want chocolate desserts too!

Slightly disapointing for vegans - Edit
The restaurant is really nice and close to the center but as a vegan I wasn't that happy. They have except for the salad no vegan food on their card but they made me a veggie burger without cheese.
Read moreSadly it wasn't very tasty, the patty seemd to be homemade with tofu, veggies and curry but the texture was awful and the whole food wasn't spicy enough, just boring.
They have lots of desserts but except of the fruit salad and 3 sorbets non of them where vegan which is very sad for a bistrot that is well-known for their chocolat desserts.
They serve breakfasts and brunch, but there are no vegan options so bare this in mind!
My mom was disapionted, too her food wasn't tasty and so she didn't eat it. Her dessert was fine, my fruit salad was disapointing, just apples, melon and pineapple for 4,50€
The best was the side salad, but honestly, I can eat salad in every restaurant and I visited this place to get tasty, warm vegan food...
If you are vegetarian, this might be a nice place for you but if you are vegan, this is rather stopgap solution than a great experience.
I honestly don't know why the don't even try to offer vegan options?! Usually every vegeterian restaurant does this...
We payed 45€ for 2 meals, 2 desserts, 2 coke light and 2 coffee.
Pros: nice place, close to the center
Cons: almost no vegan options!, boring food

Cozy place - Edit
Very cozy cafe. Central. There wasn't much that looked vegan on the menu, but some of the dishes could probably be adapted, and the dish of the day was vegan: roasted vegetables, quinoa, salad and a very good sauce.

Well situated, good food - Edit
This small restaurant is situated just at the back of the Cathedral. Cakes and chocolate seem to be their strong point. We took one course meal at noon. I had a Munster fondue with ratte de Touquet potatoes, served with green salad (18 €). My wife took a vegetable paella, also served with green salad (8 €). The food and ambience among the guests were good. There was only one person to serve around 20 guests, and she was rather in a hurry to take order and fnish serving. It would have been nicer to have a friendlier service.
