Leckeres Banh Mi - Edit

The blended coconut coffee was amazing. There are so many vegan or veganizable options. The banh mi wasn't my personal favorite in hanoi but it it still had great flavor

5 star food and service! - Edit
This spot was a favourite food and service experience in Hanoi. We ordered the vegetarian banh mi, iced coconut coffee and iced mango tea - they were all incredible. The staff were very sweet and kind, I wish we had more time to visit again (5 times over). Will definitely be back during the next trip to Vietnam 💛

Very cute, the dairy is soya according to menu - Edit
If you look at the top of the vegetarian page, it says the cheese butter and oil are made from soya. The only thing I'm unsure about is the mayo.

Drinks are very cute, got to try the "egg" coffee with tofu. It is just silken tofu in coffee with a coconut cream cap, I got normal coffee the 2nd time

Overrated - Edit
My partner and I had vegetarian and fake beef bbq banh mi. Flavor was kind of bland overall. Drinks were over the top decorated for instagram type photos.

Friendly, vegetarian section of the menu easily customized to vegan - Edit
Good selection of vegetarian banh mi and spring rolls, most of which can be made vegan. The woman who works here speaks excellent English and understands exactly what vegan is because her mother is vegan.

The presentation of the food is superb. Taste of my 'Bread avocado with potato vietnamese' was very good and maybe it's the best Banh Mi I've had.

Vegetarian-Friendly, Not Really Vegan-Friendly - Edit
Small café with mostly outdoor seating and a limited number of indoor seats. Vietnamese and English menus available. There is a full page of vegetarian banh mi (contains alliums by default). Previous HappyCow reviews said the staff members know what vegan means and that vegan substitutes are available. However, the waiter taking my order seemed quite clueless and couldn't speak English well, while the owner seemed irritated and frazzled (partly because there was a lunch crowd), so I decided to err on the side of caution and requested for no cheese, butter, mayonnaise, etc (but my order still came with mayonnaise in the end). Food was alright taste-wise. There was also a long waiting time (approximately 1 hour) as the priority seemed to be for preparing banh mi for takeaway orders. Drinks were aesthetically prepared, with smoothies made using coconut milk. Nice place to visit if you're not short on time and like Instagrammable food! But otherwise if you're a strict vegan, I would personally recommend the nearby Banh Mi Chay Vegan instead!

Our absolute favourite - Edit
We found this place the on first night of our Vietnam trip and we ended up going back almost everyday. The best vegan Bahn mi ever (and I tried quite a few from other places), super cheap cocktails and their vege spring rolls are amazing. They serve everything super fresh and everyone that served us was unbelievably lovely. Can only give 4 stars because happy cow won’t allow non vegan places 5 stars - but it’s work 5 stars!

Cute Cafe - Edit
The menu only marks vegetarian options but the staff immediately asked me if I was vegan and was able to modify all vegetarian options accordingly. The Bahn mi I had was made with avocado, crunchy papaya and carrot salad, cucumber and savoury stir fried mushroom and tofu.

Made with care - Edit
This cute little café turned out to be even nicer than expected. The owner is very sweet and came out to explain their vegan options to us. She very much understands “vegan” and said they even had plant-based cheese and butter substitutes. There is a full page dedicated to vegetarian options, seemingly all of which can be made in a vegan version. We ordered two types of bánh mì, both of which contained fresh avocado, green papaya, lettuce, chillies, and—strangely enough—french fries! One came with a beef-style mock meat and the other ”mushroom meat” made with mushrooms and tofu. Apparently they were also meant to contain vegan cheese but we couldn’t see any in the sandwiches.
Read moreOther than the warmth of the staff, something that stood out to us about this place was the thoughtful presentation of the dishes. The bánh mì were served to us in wicker baskets shaped like tiny sampan boats and our drinks were adorned with little heart-shaped fruit slices, mint garnish, and petit fours on the side. To top it all off we were served iced tea free of charge.
The major downside, of course, is that they sell animal products, with the vast majority of their savoury dishes containing meat. Personally, I think that even if their entire menu was just that one page of vegan options, they’d still be just as popular, if not more!
Pros: Very sweet owner 🥰, Full page of vegan options ✅, Pretty presentation ✨
Cons: Not vegan 😢

Bring a bit of time - Edit
The staff seemed a bit unorganized and service took a bit longer but everyone was friendly but the large amount of vegetarian/vegan options made me forgive them very fast. The bread vegetarian comes with avocado, potato, mushroom meat, vegan cheese, and vegetables. The taste was good, the price was fine, and it was filling.

HappyCow won’t let me rate this place 5 star because it’s not fully vegan. But it’s worth 5 stars because:
Read more✅ They fully understand vegan

The food is a few pennies more than some other places buy you’re really buying an experience here. The cafe is ultra cute, great street seating and the owner is so helpful and she understand the little things like mayo being non vegan.
I’ve been here multiple times but my favourites have been the mango smoothie, Banh Mi (best in Hanoi!) and the spring rolls (what an experience!) an absolute must try.
